In looking at PER and +/- only:
22.74 +0.032 Randall
17.58 -3.000 Clarkson
17.11 +0.060 Russell
15.38 -0.021 Nance Jr
Yeah, this was the price for LeBron, who has been spectacular, but if the team needs to wait 2 or 3 years for the kids to develop, then the experiment failed. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Lakers got Cleveland's first round pick for Nance jr and Clarkson. With that pick they chose Wagner (I think) and he looks to be a potential future star.
I think that trade was worth it for that alone, TBH |

You basing that on the 2.3 total minutes that Wagner has played this year? |

He's looked okay in those 2.3 minutes, and that's all that matters |

I've been beating that drum since the off-season. At this point, I would give Magic only an Incomplete. We jettisoned a lot of assets to chase the two max FA plan. Success requires signing a second premium FA who meshes with Lebron plus building an adequate supporting cast around them. If Magic pulls it off, I will tip my cap to him. If not, I will lament all of the assets we gave up to pursue a failed strategy. |

Naw man. I want all our young guys to do really well. The comment just caught me off guard since it's the type of comment that I would usually find during the summer league games.... i.e derrick caracter, javaris crittenton, etc. |

I don't think anyone is being critical of Wagner. We're critical of your belief that a late first round pick who has barely played is a future star. |

10 points, best player of the game
In the future as a stretch 5, Mo is going to give players like Ingram and Lebron so much room to operate in the paint. Can't wait. |

Kuzma - I still have a lot of hope for him but he spent the offseason too busy absorbing his own hype. He's an erratic gunner right now, again a better coaching staff would probably help. |
It seemed to me that Kuz has been forcing his shots too much and shooting too quickly most of the time. It reminded me of Lonzo at the start of last year where he was frenetically shooting everything that touched his hand, putting up 27 shots in his second game, especially. Hand and ball were like two pinballs colliding.
This most recent game at MEM, he looked a lot more controlled to me. He has a quick release anyway, but on numerous shots, he took a little more time to plant his feet and go up with controlled form. No attempts that I can remember where he was leaning to one side or the other. Hope that continues.

To be fair to Kuzma with his recent improved play:
Code: |
PER WS WS/48 +/-
16.0 1.9 0.106 -0.990 Kyle Kuzma |

LOGIC dictates that any team in any sport with multiple players on it, will have a best player, a 2nd best player, a 3rd best player and so on.
By the end of the season, it will hopefully be painfully obviously who the 2nd best player will be.
It will probably be either Kuzma or Ingram.
It definitely won't be ZO... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

I am OK with no clear cut #2, it makes it harder for opponents to prepare vs. the Lakers.
As long as L.A. Bron keeps rolling, you could put him out there with four players from Cal Tech and be competitive. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Agree it'll come down to Zo, Kuz and BI.
Or Kawhi. |

But is there a "worthy" #2? A true "Robin" for LBJ's "Batman"?
I think "Robin" isn't on the team yet. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

Facts:
LeBron's teams start slowly because other players have chemistry issues with him.
Ingram improved monthly last season.
Hart was really good by the end of the year.
KCP even improved.
(Don't look now, but) Kuzma's improving a lot.
There is definitely a 2nd best player and I don't need to debate it with analytics anymore than I do to know who the best is. Just watch the games and stop trying to make quick judgements that will likely change. |
