It's one of those shows that doesn't really peak within each season. The buildup just continues to grow and grow for a solid 4 seasons. But to accomplish that long of a buildup, it starts slow and does important character development early on. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

I just finished the first season of Mad Men. What a fantastic show, and I expect it only gets better.
That ending scene of Don on the stairs is heartbreaking. They really manage to portray him as sympathetic despite his shortcomings. |
I appreciate how grounded the show is in early seasons. Made it very accessible. Plenty of fans loved it because it's a top notch period drama. It's practically a time capsule.
It does become more and more esoteric as it goes on. But if it's themes don't speak to you in later seasons, the character development and dialogue are profound enough to still keep you hooked. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Second this. It really is one of the only shows that consistently gets better which each season. Season 1 is only 7 episodes, I'd say stick it out at least for the season until you decide. |

Fwiw, putting *spoiler alert* in the middle of the sentence with the spoiler right behind it kind of obviates the purpose of the alert... _________________ “We must always take sides. So far, I'm 100% on board with the themes of the show, at least as I parse them (chiefly anti-consumption + feminist). I would be surprised if the later seasons lose me, but we'll have to see what happens. |

Have you seen season 2 yet? The 4th wall breaking in S2 is maybe the best I've ever seen. |

I'm only up to 5. It ended with Rohr's daughter. Won't say anything, don't want to post what might be a spoiler. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

All the main actresses were nominated for Emmys, and deservedly so. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I know I'm late to the party but The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is fantastic. A perfect balance of a delightful, entertaining watch mixed with real human emotions and issues. I'm hooked. |

I love the cold opens that showcase different characters and how their trauma and/or upbringing has made them the person we now see.
Also, Bob Ross and The Wire references had me |

Just finished Dark Season 2. In terms of story, it's mind-blowingly excellent.
It's a time travel show that doesn't play by the rules of it's predecessors. I can't speak highly enough about it.
There isn't 1 wasted scene through 2 seasons. The plot line is so ambitious and the writers somehow managed to pull it off.
Family trees are important in the show. So if you watch, keep this handy: https://i.redd.it/i063yx8ymy501.jpg _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I personally couldn't get into city on a hill but it's really tough for me to be love a cop show (still haven't seen beyond season 1 of the wire, tbh - might have to make an exception for that one though). _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |
