Unquestionably, one of the finest ever to sit behind a kit.

RIP. He outlived Jack Bruce by a few years, which must have satisfied him.

Damn! Another legend passes.

The man played with groups from the likes of Hawkwind to Public Image Ltd.

RIP

There was a great Netflix documentary on him a couple of years back, certainly quite the eccentric who lived quite an amazing life.

RIP

I’m clouded by thinking of Bruce Springsteen whenever I hear his name.

Read that he was in a critical state a few days ago, so sad it came to this. Absolutely one of the finest drummers to ever walk the earth. RIP to a legend. I know he loathed heavy metal music, but Cream had a profound influence on it, as well as many other genres. For its time Cream was heavy.

Was on a heavy rotation of Cream and Sabbath for 2-3 years in COLLEGE, and some Doors, even moreso than Zep/VH, etc. Used to crank Fairies Wear Boots, haha.

Here he is leading the way by sending a souvenir into the crowd before starting a MAGNIFICENT performance by all three.

Not just one of the greatest rock drummer, but one of the greatest drummers across genres. I hate being so old that my rock idols are leaving the planet.

Yeah, it's going to be a routine thing from here on out.

It's a sad thing, but such is life. I'm just thankful to have enjoyed the creative treasures of all of these wonderful artists.

He did not think of himself as a rock n roll drummer and his output after Blind Faith sort of bore that out...

jamming with Gary Moore and Jack Bruce ..
.. sucks that all three are now gone.

Also had a brief one album stint with Hawkwind in the 80s. Good album.

RIP

One of the greats. Absolutely love Cream, Blind Faith, Hawkwind and his PIL album (with Steve Vai, Bill Laswell and other great musicians).

Just give Pressed Rat and Warthog a spin in his memory.

The line that smacks me in the face when I read this article is the one that states how watching our rock stars grow old and eventually pass not only is hard, but makes us face our own mortality. Now I'm not a rock star, but I've been a gigging rock musician for over 40 years and yes, I look at these guys and wonder if I've got another 10-15 years left in the tank. It's hard work doing what we do. I definitely feel it more now after playing a 4 hour gig than I did in my 20s. And while I don't live the excessive life of a rock musician anymore, all of that does take its toll as proven by the fact that I've already lost some of my closest musical brothers. Still, I'm thankful for opportunities I've had and don't take any of it for granted.
