Love the way AOC is hammering this message about COVID relief. And the way she's been framing it simply.
She's been doing it since the election. And I hope it continues.

Off thread topic.
If you're working at home do something about the slow drag on the site.

That's a brutal wiki. It hammered Trump with a meat tenderizer. When he reads it there may be another suit levied. It describes, in part, what his legacy will be.

Tell that to someone in the food lines for Thanksgiving. Or the restaurant workers. Or the 10s of millions who still haven't financially recovered since March and didn't vote.

But you have a point. Those people are too busy trying to survive vs. paying attention to politics.
But that doesn't mean what she's saying isn't worth saying. Politically or otherwise speaking.

I like AOC, but it's probably best to work from the middle, and then, move to the left, gradually.

Isn't that what she's doing? Endorsing Biden. The Squad she's a part of carrying Minnesota and Michigan for Biden in the Electoral College.

Putting all the generalities aside.

Is another round of stimulus checks without compromising workers to Covid considered radical left? That just seems like common sense and empathy to me.

Sure. But if the relief never comes because the Pols get stuck in a stare down, it doesn't really matter.

If the Dems control both houses, they should push through everything they can. I dislike the current iteration of the Republikkkan Party, with old Turkey Neck McConnell more interested in blocking legislation than in actually legislating (for the benefit of most Americans).

I don't think the Dems should agree to exempt businesses from being sued if their workers get infected with Covid, but they might have to agree to that, if they want more stimulus money for the rest of us.

I'm a poor Mexican--not all Mexicans are poor, and not all poor people are Mexican--and I could very much use more stimulus money, but I don't want businesses to be free to endanger their workers just so I can get paid.

I'm sorry, but i reject that.

Where's the line? What if Mitch said he'll sign a bill for stimulus payments and small business assistance. But the payments and assistance only go to people and small business owners he personally gets to throw a rock at.

If the Dems (including AOC) said. NO. Just give them the $, it's a pandemic. Would it still be a political "stare down".

Reject it all you want. But yes, it's stare down and no one gets stimulus as a result. That's not a criticism, just an acknowledgement of the screwed up political impasse. That's the sad reality even if it is one that neither of us like.

Quite simply, Obama won in a landslide in 2008 with the promise of hope and change. Not only did he not deliver, he brought upon right wing policies such as extending the Bush tax cuts, passed the Affordable Care Act (a right wing plan with no public option), continued drone strikes in the middle east, and was willing to enact a grand bargain with the the Republicans and cut Social Security and Medicare.

Trump was always going to carry the swath of ignorant minority blaming block of voters, but what he had in his back pocket was the being the vague façade of an economic populist pointing to, and maybe rightfully so, Obama's failures. This is what won him the Rust Belt in 2016 and thus the presidency.

Remember a Modern Marvels on the LOC. Manuscript Div at Library Of Congress has a Presidential section filled with all and any writings of every President. Anything from legal to academic to letters to Washington's daily weather notebook to TR's personal diary where he put a large "X" on the day that his wife and mother both died on. I can't imagine what Trump would even have in his, but he'll have a place marker with his name on it at least.
