Just watched outstanding new movie on Raymond Lewis, the LA hoops star of the late 1960s and early 1970s who is considered one of the best players to never play in the NBA. High school legend at Verbum Dei, high-scoring phenom at LA State, drafted first round by Sixers and that's when things started going sideways. But remained a mythical figure forever, lighting up Coop in summer league being part of the legend.
I had the chance to meet the creators of this doc while writing something about Raymond and they worked on this for a decade and it just premiered at a film festival and is now available for purchase online, or you can rent or order a DVD. Some great found footage, incredible interviews (great LA characters like the late Caldwell Black), awesome stories and a well-told tale. Any hoops fans will enjoy it but if you're from LA or remember Raymond you should find it especially poignant and enjoyable.
