I'm drawing a total blank here but does anyone have any good recent examples (last 20 years) where a team acquired a "star" player (all-star caliber at least) and then that vaulted them into a ring that specific year?
The closest one I can think of was when we got Gasol (but we didn't win that year). I thought with Harden the nets were gonna win but that didn't happen either.
2011 - Josh Howard for Caron Butler at the deadline and Caron got a ring 4 months later.
2019 - Valanciunas for Marc Gasol at the deadline and Marc got a ring a few months later. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Pistons with Rasheed? (was he even a star then)
Doesn't our own AD move count or am I missing something?

Wasn’t mid season. Basically deals done at the trade deadline
