As of June 2016, a total of 11 chapters from The Winds of Winter have been either read publicly or published as a sample chapter.
I haven't read any just waiting for the complete version, but that's a lot of chapters. |
I've read some of them but not all. I'm hopeful that by this time next year we will at least have an announcement if not the actual book already. |
I don't carry much hope now on his schedule.
Anyway, assuming you've read the full books, what was your opinion of his quality of writing in these 11 Winter chapters compared to the books? No spoilers though, I beg you. |
I enjoyed his writing as much in the new chapters as I did in the previous books. I feel like he's become a better writer since starting the series, people just complain because AFFC and ADWD are "slower" compared to ASOS, but the quality of the writing was fantastic.
I think what's slowing him down, aside from trying to wrap his head around a story and world that has been expanded so much, is maintaining the same quality his readers are used to. I'm not upset about the wait at all, I truly think the only reason for the wait is because he doesn't want to sacrifice quality just to get it done.
TLDR; his writing is as good in the samples as it was in the 5 novels, if not better. A lot of fans name a few sample chapters as their favorite in the entire series. |

It looks like they're saving that for the prequel.

Quote: | What’s it about? Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, only one thing is for sure: It’s not the story we think we know. |
|
Ah I was hoping to hear the Night King and his generals speaking and showing their motivations this season
They would have rather just added more episodes to these last couple seasons and properly tied up the story here than to make all these sequels and prequels. |

I am a big fan of the show, but thought the premier of Season 8 was.....to put it kindly, not the best episode they have ever done.
I am hoping it gets a lot better from here and I expect it will. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

There are leaks everywhere - Need to just watch the show, and not read anything online about it. |

I think the rest of the episodes (4 remaining) will all be about 80 minutes long each. |

Wasn't really crazy about that ep. I know the big battle is coming next episode, but it just seemed really slow. |

I like the fact that no one knows who bran is or his powers, yet he just mentions that the night king will go after him and that he's the three eyed raven, and no one bats an eye. |

Most likely to die next episode:
Jorah, Podrick, Gendry, Tormund, Beric, Tollett (night's watch guy), Davos, Grey Worm, Theon
Least likely to die next episode:
Jon, Dany, Sansa, Arya, The Hound, Tyrion, Varys
Between Brienne and Jamie at least 1 will die. But it could be both.
Really disappointed we haven't seen the red priestess Melisandre. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

I'd have Brienne as most likely after maybe Grey Worm. To me this episode was basically "good bye Brienne". |

Or how Dany convinces Jon to ride a dragon but is surprised by Jon's Targaryan reveal. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Tormund stole the show this episode.
No spoilers here just predictions on who's gonna die next episode:
Brienne and/or Tormund
Theon
Grey Worm
Eddison
Jorah
Sam or Gilly
I had Beric dying next episode but not sure. He barely got screen time this episode. I'll just say maybe... Probably...
Podrick... Maybe...
Gendry... Maybe... I really want to see a Baratheon make it out alive. |

so I assume Bronn is still on his way to Wintefell? I assumed he would arrive before the fighting began?
Also, any chance the White Walker's get in the crypts and resurrect any of the Starks?

Getting better!!!
Sir Breanne of Tarth (tears looked real)
Arya coming of age... with a Baratheon, one of two men with claim to the iron throne
Jon Snow ‘I am your nephew and I have claim to the throne’
Sansa ‘the north won’t kneel’
The spin offs better start after the final episode |
