I don't like Biden being under so much pressure to pick a Black woman VP

Oh, that will be fun. Can't wait for the (bleep) of infighting that is going to happen on the left as a large segment of it inevitably (bleep) and moans and starts accelerating the old Russian propaganda machines with all the alleged reasons why the pick sucks.

Kanye's presidential run is going to be a bigger factor than many of you think in my estimation. It has nothing to do with simply trying to siphon votes from Biden. It's all about muddying the waters with alleged corruption amongst the Democratic Party. I'm more convinced than ever that the Trump campaign is manipulating. West as a tool.

It's important than those of us on the left and claim to be progressive need to avoid any hints of encouraging the "both sides are the same" BS by turning our heads when it suits us . . .

Progressives Backing Alex Morse Are Mostly Silent On Misconduct Charges
The Holyoke, Massachusetts, mayor challenging Rep. Richard Neal (D) is accused of abusing his power for sexual gain.

Kanye is mentally ill. His wife has said so publicly. If someone is going to take his word over the DNC. That person was always a lost cause IMO.

We'll see how this compares to Obama's 2004 speech.
She isn't a past President of the Harvard Law Review (like '04 Barack).
But if she speaks to her personal history and channels the spirit from some of her past speeches in Congress. I could see it going very well for her.

Have you seen the current POtuS? Mental illness is perfectly fine with the Republicans as long as it brings what they want. The point is, this will be another voice allegedly "independent" from Trump's campaign that will be screaming about voter fraud and a dirty DNC.

She is an exceptionally charismatic speaker, as she showed on the House floor when addressing Ted Yoho's sexist vulgarity. Hopefully, she lets up a bit on the far left throttle for this and tries to broaden her appeal. She could be a superstar.

She really needs to tailor her speech to attract the more moderate voters. The GOP loves to use her to fear-monger.

It's a homophobic smear campaign ("24 year-old gay man uses Grindr" is not a #MeToo offense) to protect literally the most corrupt member of Congress. Richie Neal is actually the poster child of "both sides are the same".

Would you care to post some links to other articles to back up both arguments and add additional facts and context?

It's looking Susan Rice will be Biden's VP pick. I don't know much about her tbh.

I was hoping for Harris.

I think they're inviting her to speak to help secure the left wing of the Democratic party. And she can do that and not be "scary" to more moderate Dems by talking about what she wants every American to have (affordable healthcare, affordable higher education, equality under the law, a wage they can live off of, a world not wrecked by climate change, etc.).
The GOP is "afraid" of her because of her race, gender, physical attractiveness, and charisma.

No matter what she says, the GOP and Fox "News" will obsessively demonize her. She's not too different from Obama in that respect. Heck she's not too different from the people in her district she represents (60% being Hispanic or Black, median income $58,331) in that respect.

Any moderate Dem will vote for the Biden ticket without regard to his VP pick. It's the independent voters that concern me, as they're more susceptible to the GOP/Fox fear mongering. I don't want to see swing states turning red in this upcoming election.

AOC, Sanders, and Warren are pretty much the only progressives giving speeches. If people aren't gonna vote Democrat because the DNC allowed them to speak at the convention. I question if those people were ever swing voters to begin with. I mean AOC, Sanders, and Warren do represent some of the party. Don't think it's wise to alienate or neuter that whole wing. Besides for every 1 progressive there are 3 moderates speaking.
