It's fun given the right environment, just like certain "old school" songs are great to listen to during a long drive or road trip. It's not all bad.

I'm not a big fan of the genre, but Spotify has some great EDM playlists. If you have a good pair of headphones, it's even better.

Tons of genres from ambient to hardstyle. Dozens of channels and hundreds of on-demand show replays. Been a subscriber for years. Their mobile app is great too.

A couple of the ambient-style channels are my go-to's when I'm programming at work.

EDM is ok. Think everybody can find a style of EDM they can get into. Personally, I like Nu Disco and Moombahton. I think there's a sub-genre of EDM for everybody. All of it isn't all noise.
Btw, Calvin Harris just released a nice album that's not what you'd expect. Very funky, Nu Disco-ish sound.
Just my opinion, though.

LOL!

Exactly what I was thinking every time I saw the thread title. So glad I checked in and saw that was actually the question.

Those of us who are 70's teens used to get wasted and put on headphones as well. But we were listening to music.

I like it, but tbh I like more of the old school stuff from the 90's and early 2000's. I'm not too into the scene as it is now. But once in awhile i'll hear something that catches my ear.

Why are EDM festivals always held at the time of the year when people will most likely die from dehydration? Dancing to 110 degree temps in the Las Vegas summer+drugs=recipe for disaster.

One of my friends from back in the day was Pasquale Rotella. Around 1993 together he and I ( and a few other friends) used to promote various after hours clubs around the LA area, mainly Insomniac. Back then, it was a brave new world. We were making the rules. The music was new, the style, the clothes, the attitude towards the scene was positive and really loving.

Until Meth.

I watched as bright, creative people one by one succumbed to its effects and rather than watch this sad decay I left the scene for good.

Had I known what was possible I would have stuck it out, but back then I was not thinking long term. Pasquale always had the vision and today he is raking in millions.
