Don't think I can be excited with JJ joining the team. Shouldn't he be pushing to play somewhere close to home?

Gay and Melo are welcomed, at least they have size and a bit of length. Not sure what JJ brings if his shots don't go down... Vet presence? Our team is OOZING with vet presence as it is

A poison pill contract is something another team offers him. It's basically the MLE for the first two years, and then up to the max for the next two years. (The last two years are the poison pill.)

BT: The Lakers need shooting. One name that is coming up is Patty Mills. He can shoot the lights out and would be great off the bench. Wayne Ellington is another shooter who has interest in rejoining the Lakers. Trevor Ariza and Andre Iguodala are veteran wings who are candidates. Carmelo Anthony is interested, just waiting on a call from the Lakers when free agency opens Monday. Guess who might be back for a third time? Yup, Dwight Howard is ready to return and play center. Jeff Green and Goran Dragic also are names to look out for.

I like the Dwight mention

Brad Turner in that LA Times article it doesn't sound like DD is coming to the Lakers. He says lookout for Dallas.

He's played on four different teams in the last four years. I doubt be cares about playing "close to home." He goes where the job is, and he's paid a fortune to do it.

The google or the vasahi

Vas' primary says

Quote:
THT (early bird rights up to 175% of previous deal or 105% of previous year’s league average of 10m): 10.5m and it has to be a minimum of 2 years & up to 4 years w/ 8%; if we renounce him and make him a non-bird player with the intention to make him our full bird player next summer, then we can offer him up to 1.9m for an expiring 1yr deal

Ok, but what is the max the Lakers could pay him year 1 on a new deal?

Brad Turner also mentions Ariza, Iggy, Ellington as possible pickups.

Zo to the Bulls seems like a done deal unless something unexpected happens. Maybe Pels get Lauri.

So our hopes for Dennis getting us anything back gets limited.
Hoping Wiz actually do like him. Or a team like the Cavs get involved.

Some good names Turner is mentioning. I like it. Could never have seen DeRozan coming for so little. It's one thing to take a slight pay cut, but to pull a David West serves to devalue the player's union, and players rarely take that steep of a cut off their actual worth.

In that Times piece, it sounds like Gasol may not be back.

That's honestly fine by me. He's a statue. I liked our identity better with mobile players on the floor, including bigs. His shooting is nice but I just think overall he wasn't the best fit, given his severe mobility issues at this stage of his career.

Are we looking to create history by creating aroster with no shooters?
We shipped KCP and Kuz. Now Gasol? And we are planning to not get caruso bach but bring THT.
