That's honestly fine by me. He's a statue. I liked our identity better with mobile players on the floor, including bigs. His shooting is nice but I just think overall he wasn't the best fit, given his severe mobility issues at this stage of his career.

His playmaking was huge. At least we have Russ now

We shipped KCP and Kuz. Now Gasol? And we are planning to not get caruso bach but bring THT.

Nice use of "we".
I knew you were a Lakers fan.

Still holding out hope we can get a good player back for Dennis is an S&T. Or at the very least a Trade Exception.

Assuming we don't get Hield, I could see us going this route:

C -
1 - Gasol -need the spacing
2 - Dwight - can only offer vet min, but Rob will try
3 - McGee - again vet min only, but we need the length. (If he'd come for cheap, I'd love Nerlens Noel instead of McGee for younger legs and more mobility on D.)

PF -
1 - AD -more at C late, but still here for now
2 - Kieff - bring him back with Early Bird raise
3 - Melo - too many reports for it not to happen - vet min only

SF -
1 - LBJ - duh
2 - Matthews - vet min raise only, but we need his D.

SG -
1 - Bullock - throw the MLE at him and it's still 40% raise from what he had last year. Guy hit 40% on 6 att/gm playing next to Randle. Imagine what he can do here. Also swings up to SF to play next to Russ.
2 - Avery Bradley - Can totally see him coming back. Imagine unleashing him and AC on defensive attack mode. Plus, knows Vogel's rotations, so that will help.

PG -
1 - Brodie - Mamba ferocity in D-Wade's body. Yikes.
2 - Caruso - When Russ sits, he'll be at "point" opposite LBJ. I expect he'll signa 4-ytear for total between $35 and $42M.
3 - THT - Our No. 4 playmaker - not going anywhere. Also probably a 4-year deal sim. to AC.

Really don't want to sign Rudy Gay due to his age and because his 3-pt % craters every other year - and this next year is scheduled to be his down year. (Seriously, look it up. It's like how every other Star Trek movie used to suck.)

The roster above is already at 13 players. I don't see McKinnie coming back... and I think Dudz may be on the way out, too. I see Rob leaving that 14th slot open for the occasional call-up for Ayayi or Reaves, or for one last FA buyout at the end of the year if we need wing help or someone for injury replacement.

If, if, IF we get Hield and it doesn't involve role players coming over from the Wizards or Bulls or something, then I hope the MLE slot gets filled by JaMychal Green instead so we can get some relative youth/ defensive versatility at the forward spots.

Could also end up being filled by Cory Joseph as our annual sacrifice to the Klutch Gods in lieu of KCP.

BT: The Lakers need shooting. One name that is coming up is Patty Mills. He can shoot the lights out and would be great off the bench. Wayne Ellington is another shooter who has interest in rejoining the Lakers. Trevor Ariza and Andre Iguodala are veteran wings who are candidates. Carmelo Anthony is interested, just waiting on a call from the Lakers when free agency opens Monday. Guess who might be back for a third time? Yup, Dwight Howard is ready to return and play center. Jeff Green and Goran Dragic also are names to look out for.

I like the Dwight mention

What a treasure trove of info this is.

This article makes it sound like Ellington, Melo, and Dwight will definitely be on the way.

Mills, Gay (if at all possible), Green, and Dragic would be EXCELLENT pickups, though that all but squeezes Caruso out. I know that is under the assumption that everyone and their brother takes the vet minimum, but man, what a thought that is.

Speaking of Caruso, I saw it mentioned earlier, but he'd be one that I think would absolutely agree to a S&T. Whereas Dennis is an egotistical douchebag, Bald Mamba strikes me as someone who is extremely proud of his time as a Laker.

Everyone has their preferences, and I realize that he does have some skill that he brought to the table. But for me, I just didn't like the fit. One of those cases where even if defensive analytics didn't hate what he did (far from it), my eye test didn't like it lol.

DS S&T for opting in Dragic works, heโ€™ll take KCP role or THTโ€™s back up, whichever
If we can get Jeff Green, heโ€™ll replace Kuzma
Then Dwight for Trez
Then the shooters, Melo, Mills, Ellington

Does anyone have access to the LA Times? Dan Woike is reporting that the Lakers getting JJ Reddick is a real possibility.

You have a way with words... does it sound like "REAL POSSIBILITY"?

DW: BT mentions some interesting names that Iโ€™ve heard as well. I think Jeff Green would be an ideal fit as a floor-spacer. Same goes for Wayne Ellington. Iโ€™d keep an eye on JJ Redick. Torrey Craig had a really nice postseason and showed his versatility as a defender. Patty Mills would be a perfect instant-offense kind of player and someone whose defensive shortcomings could be overcome with someone like Anthony Davis behind him. Garrett Temple is the kind of player who inevitably ends up as a target for contenders looking for high-character, low-drama help.

Actually, we need Vas to confirm the $ cause if heat sign Schroeder, theyโ€™ll be hard capped so theyโ€™ll need to shed salaries, surely wouldnโ€™t mind picking up those two at all

Could be haha
I hope we can beat out the bulls for oldest team to win a ring.

Quote:
1997-98 Chicago Bulls
Weighted Age (WAGE): 32.096

Oldest Player: Dennis Rodman (37)

But I think AD, THT, Alex and the rookies will keep us below that.

I have a feeling Dwight Howard, Danny Green, Avery Bradley will be back as they try to get that old chemistry back that we lacked last year. Then I see Matthews, Caruso, THT, Morris, and McLemore back. As for Schroder I think heโ€™s sign and traded to the team that misses out on Lowry, Ball, Dinwiddie. Knicks, Bulls, Heat, Mavs will be an odd man out. My guess is Ball to the Knicks, Lowry to the Heat, Dinwiddie to the Wizards, Rose to the Bulls, Conley to the Jazz. Mavs may get Dragic but I could see them liking Schroder because heโ€™s younger but Dragic could end up in Dallas. Other teams in need of a PG are the Clippers, Celtics, Wolves those 3 teams donโ€™t have cap tho and not sure have players either to give us. I wouldnโ€™t be shocked if Schroder is just back on the team. Playing again behind Westbrook and back to where heโ€™s best 6th man so it wouldnโ€™t be that bad having him back. And we get him for what we offered before maybe even less.

Westbrook - Schroder - Caruso
Green - THT - Bradley
James - Matthews - McLemore
Davis - Melo - Morris
Gasol - Howard

Or could be
Westbrook
Schroder
Green
James
Davis
