Over the last 6 years alone you had your Lakers last year and the Warriors the 5 years prior to that. You are honestly saying the Rockets were loaded and not undermanned in comparisons to those teams? |
weak excuses.....
Harden still could have won several of those series if he didn't fold in those closeout games. That was one of the few things I could count on yearly.. Harden putting up insane stats in the regular season only to fail in closeout games when it mattered most. Every damn year as a Rocket. |

With his size and ball handling he should be able to get to the rim at will... The guy just don't have the dog in him. |

Just looked at Sexton and Garland's stats... Sexton having an Allstar year.
Sexton: 25.1ppg with 53%fg / 52% 3fg / 83% FT
Garland: 17.2ppg with 46%fg / 47 3fg / 89% FT
Cavs have a nice future with both those guys. They can play on both sides of the ball too. |

Very nice game by Clint Capela 27 points and 26 Rebs against the Pistons with 5 blocks, never understood why the Rockets got rid of him so quickly and now they have a washed up DeMarcus Cousins as there only quality C. |

Facts. Aside form the loss vs Portland and the loss vs SA, Harden lost to a team that was clearly better than his.

I can list numerous all-time greats that failed in closeout games or series when they were facing a superior team. Harden isn't good enough to overcome that. can barely count stars who were, especially as it relates to winning a title. Dream, Duncan and Dirk...that's it. Who else won on a team that was clearly worse than the opponent? Maybe LeBron vs GS? |

No kidding. The Rockets had plenty of talent. Heck, they won the conference one of those years. DS is right that Rockets weren't as good as the Warriors or the Lakers. What DS misses is that this tells us something about Harden. The Rockets spent the money to put some pretty strong supporting casts around Harden. They still weren't good enough.
The common element of those teams is Harden. He really didn't play as badly as people seem to believe. But he wasn't great, and the Rockets never got over the hump. In the end, Harden blamed everyone other than himself. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

I watched some of the game tonight. It looked like he was playing PF on both ends of the court. That's fine, but it sure didn't seem like he was having much impact on the game. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Capela was essentially traded for Wood and a 1st round pick, and Wood makes 10M less over the next 3 years. |

Capela could have potentially made a big difference against the Lakers bigs last year but the Rockets decided to go with small ball which killed there chance at keeping Harden.
Also Christian Wood is a nice player but i rather have Capela and Harden. |

The Rockets had plenty of talent, relative to the rest of the league. The Rockets clearly had less talent than GS every year and the Lakers last year.

Yes, with CP3, who missed the last two games of a series, vs a team that had more talent than Houston even with him playing (Durant, Steph, Klay, Green, Iggy). One team having a clearly better level of talent on it tells us nothing about Harden. He's not good enough to beat a superteam when he's not on one. Shocker. Now that he's on a superteam himself he may win. Shocker. Most seasons the title winning team is arguably the most talented in basketball. It's extremely rare for a team to win when that isn't the case. What tells us about Harden are the series he lost vs worse teams when he played like garbage (Portland and SA). But even garbage play can be offset if you are playing on a stacked team.
Aeneas Hunter wrote: | The Rockets spent the money to put some pretty strong supporting casts around Harden. They still weren't good enough. |
The Rockets never gave Harden the type of supporting casts that LeBron, Durant and Steph had. Those are your title winners. |

Capela only played 39 games last year and wouldn't have been available for the playoffs. Harden leaving had nothing to do with him. Going small was to maximize Westbrook, who Harden wanted.

Capela being on the roster wouldn't make Harden stay. He left to play with two elite players and arguably the 2nd best player on Earth. |

Yeah obviously the Nets situation is intriguing but if Capela was healthy last year it would have made a bigger difference then the Rockets going small ball that was essentially my point. |

It wouldn’t have because he didn’t mesh with Westbrook. Westbrook’s game didn’t take off until the team went small. That, combined with his injury is why he was traded. And they essentially got Wood and a 1st for him. A better C for less $$ and a pick. Neither C is better than the Nets situation.
The Westbrook/CP3 swap was just really, really dumb. |

Durant goes down late in the 3rd quarter of Game 5 of the 2019 Finals. Series is tied 2-2. Durants injury will keep him out of the rest of the series. If there was ever a moment for Harden to take advantage: this is it. He scored 5 points in the 4th quarter of that game. 5 points. On 3 shots. They lost the following game as well. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Durant went down and GS was “only” left with Steph, Klay, Green and Iggy. Dang.
He had 35 in the elimination game, which they lost to a clearly better team that went 6 in the Finals despite losing Durant and Klay. |

Oh. I didn’t realize he was forced to only take 3 shots in the 4th when GS’ best player went down. Hate when that happens! _________________ 14-5-3-12

I never said Harden was great in every game. I said over the last 8 years he clearly lost to a superior team, aside from two times. This is common. It’s extremely rare for one to win a title on a team that’s clearly less talented. Unless you are disputing that GS was not a clearly superior team I’m not sure what we are debating.
Harden isn’t good enough to beat a superior team with less help. We have only seen someone win like that 3 or 4 times since the 80’s. |
