He would have likely come here had we for example let KCP walk and have what we gave to KCP to Noel, but we were never aggressive in signing him.

He signed for the minimum. Highly doubtful he was offered a substantially better contract by any other NBA team let alone KCP money.

He was with the Mavs approximately 1.5 seasons and obviously they saw enough not to bring him back.

He is an incomplete player on the court, injury prone with a questionable attitude.

Perhaps not KCP money but we could have found a way to get him, but decided not to, I rather have Chandler then Noel so it doesn’t matter just that young mobile bigs who are athletic are nice to have.

Noel was available to sign... Chandler was/is not.

I don't know about that, and the preseason has showed we are not close to that.

We are set to run and gun, and likely try to outscore teams rather than stop them.

Remember we only saw the team's best defensive personnel -Lonzo/Bron/KCP/Ingram/McGee - together for a few minutes this preseason against the most lethal offense in the league. I think the coaches can cobble together a middle of the pack defense as Walton moves Rondo to the second unit and gradually phases out Stephenson's minutes. Ingram sustaining his preseason improvement on defense will be key. And I don't know what to do with Kuz at backup C except hope that the in-season defensive improvement we saw from him last season happens again this year with even more defensive responsibility.

Right. But suffocate...that's not the first word that comes to mind.

Yeah give me Ben Simmons, as long as we're talking purely of preference and completely discarding likelihood of being available in a trade.

Cats on here thinking the Pels going to let AD go.

I can only say that the Bucs will let the Greek Freak Go

Maybe Lebron and Simmons may never play together, but the fact that Lebron is here in LA has paved the way. Simmons is tight with LB and will getting all the inside scoop on how things are around here. Ben Simmons also said, while he was at LSU, "You can catch me on the Lakers next year!" Ben Simmons wanted to be a Laker.

The Lakers, Clippers, and Knicks have the best chance at luring Kevin Durant away from the Warriors, per @ChrisBHaynes.

Speculation based on????

Happy for him. Playing with a chip on his shoulder.
If he shoots well this season. He'll get $$$ in the future.

Lakers knew Jules was gonna eventually become a all star caliber player, that doesn’t mean every guy that walks from the team or is traded is supposed to make us feel bad just because he goes on to have a good career, you gotta take what you have and not worry about what other players accomplish.

Go Jules . Damn I never saw a game where he hit a couple those for us. Maybe he’s going to get Gordon money if he keep it up.

One half does not a season make, but he looks happy and in good shape and happy to come off the bench behind mirotic. DLO is in single digits with a team worst +/-, clarkson looks like trash, Nance is already injured...any given night it’s going to be a mixed bag with our rejects, doesn’t mean we need to feel regret.

17 points in 12 minutes with 2 threes made is a worst case scenario for Laker fans.

However, you can't sign someone for crazy money on the hope they might develop an outside shot.

Happy for Julius... but have a feeling he and AD will punish us this year.

If they knew he would become an all-star caliber player, they would have held onto him. An "All-star caliber" player is a great asset at the very least and something that be used in a trade. All they had to do was pay him about what NO paid him and make him feel slightly wanted.

Everything i've seen indicates they didn't expect much from him. I've liked what the FO has done overall, but how they handled Randle was a fumble plain and simple.

And yeah it's lamentable to a lot of people who wanted to keep him.

Come on man, you can’t be serious the Lakers have always let all star caliber players walk in the team’s history, we can’t whine just because the players we let go end up becoming a good player.. that’s basically ruining your fandom.

22/11/8 for AD in just under 3 quarters. We'd be unstoppable with Bron and AD on the team. Hope Magic and Rich Paul can make it happen.

Also just because we could have payed him doesn’t mean he wanted to be here or that the Lakers wanted to keep him, the Lakers have a far superior player on the roster.. we will be making playoff runs, we will see if the Pelicans will do the same.
