Why are you skeptical about Hunter? Age?

I can't find a strong reference point for his abilities and archetypes that translate to immediate success.

He does a lot right on the floor. Perhaps I'm focusing too much on the offensive aspect as opposed to the defensive aspect where his real strengths are.

Need to see more passing/perimeter defense out of Hachimura. At least trend upward, because it's been awful at times for over 3 years.

Kawhi Leonard. I really think the way he's used in UVA's pack-line defense limits some of his stocks, though obviously Ty Jerome is racking up steals.

Glad to see you're pretty bullish on Kevin Porter, Mike. Surprised all these mock drafts have him in the 10-15 range. Haven't done too much research on most of these guys outside the Duke team, but he's top 5 in my book so far. Pretty sure he winds up going in the top 7 on actual draft night

I'm not anymore.

I'd consider drafting KPJ if I felt more confident about the Lakers' development team, but KPJs bad habits are the same IQ issues on both ends the current Lakers have problems with.

They can't fix that internally with experienced players, then for sure they can't fix it with a rookie.

That's why he's dropping.

May I ask why the interest in Bassey, Bol, and Wilkes?

I would only consider them in the 2nd round.

Things change so fast.

Zion

Barrett
Culver
Morant
Hunter
Garland

Reddish
Clarke
Hayes
Jontay pending health

Then it's super murky
PJ - have to start trusting the motor now, but still concerned that it only comes with PT
KZ Okpala - Another BI project prototype, more translatable shot
Coby White
Goga Bitadze
Bruno Fernando
Nickiel Alexander Walker
Kevin Porter Jr (but I don't trust LAL staff to groom him well, makes all the same mistakes that make the current Lakers suck)
Grant Williams
Tre Jones

i'm not high on this draft at all and haven't followed as closely as in the past I feel the Lakers will trade the pick. The Lakers have moved higher in the draft so my selections would change some. I have certain criteria I use but I need more info over the next few months. I tend select players I like and don't really care what the mocks have them.

Gotcha. It's a difficult draft to make my mind up on things. Even the guys at Hardwood Homies podcast (Mike Grib and Jackson Hoy) had me rethinking about Bassey, but I can't see more than a Mo Speights prototype. Bol, I just can't. Wilkes, admittedly, I've practically ignored all season because UCLA is a tough watch.

Mike -at- LG - your thoughts on Darius Garland and Bol Bol?

Edit: I see from your above comments that you've written off Bol Bol. Have you watched tape on him? I thought he looked very good in the handful of games he played at Oregon. Then again, I might be jaded after having watched most of Moses Brown and the Bruins conference games at Pauley.

IMO Bol Bol can play. He can certainly do some things that are not typical of a player his height. I thought as a college freshman, he was markedly improved over his senior year in high school, but unfortunately his injury prevented him from building a body of work.

The lack of body of work also applies to Garland. IMO, he would have been right there in the PG discussion with Ja Morant.

Yes I've watched Bol Bol. If course he looks good against minimal contract zone defenses at Syracuse. Overall competition is weak.

Also, check the success of former Mater Dei players.

Garland I have Top 7.

I think he has an out to be a good shooter PG for LeBron while working on PG skills down the line.
