The Kids Closed in OKC… Step back for a moment and realize this was your Summer League roster from a couple years ago trying to close this game. Zubac, Kuzma, Ingram, Hart and Lonzo…on the road against OKC with vet stars like Westbrook and George.

The team fell behind by 17 points in the first quarter. The Thunder team was on fire from three, the Lakers team turnover prone and giving up some painful offensive boards. Luke yanked JaVale McGee late in the quarter for Ivica Zubac. With that substitution, everything changed. The Lakers came back to take a lead just 4 minutes into the second quarter.

Zubac, the 21-year-old, made his presence felt all night. Good thing, because our other bigs couldn’t secure misses on freethrows tonight. The Lakers had three defensive stands tonight where they gave up a combined 14 points (4 offensive boards on 4 missed freethrows in those three possessions). Three possessions, 14 points! That kind of thing is hard to survive, but they did.

Kyle Kuzma hit 7 threes on his way to a game-high 32 points. Zubac off the bench scored 26 on 12-14 shooting. Ingram had 11 assists. Lonzo had 10 assists and 18 points. Josh Hart battled on the glass to get stops and came up big with an offensive board with 35 seconds left. After a couple of made freethrows by Hart off of that, the Lakers held the lead.

Up 3, however, Lonzo Ball fouled Westbrook with 2.9 seconds left on a three-pointer. He tried to take a foul to give, but instead they gave up three FTs.

In overtime, Lonzo made up for it with a big three, a drive for a score and another great assists to setup Zubac for a score. The young Lakers dominated overtime, winning 138-128.

The two teams combined for 41 threes. How do you survive those miscues on the defensive glass and the Thunder making 22 threes on their home floor? Go 19-21 from the freethrow line and execute like vets down the stretch. Great game by the kids.

Ball -- -- He made up for it and seemed determined to do so. He thought he got the intentional foul on Westbrook in time, but Westbrook was getting ready for it and he got the call. Three FTs with 2.9 seconds left to tie the game. Lonzo got after it in overtime. He sank a deep three. He attacked the paint, switched hands in air and finished a layup. Pretty pass of his on the night was a bounce pass off the dribble to Zu in the pocket that looked like Lonzo was going to crossover, but instead the ball went to his big for the score. Just froze the D. He had 10 points on an aggressive 4-10 shooting first half (2-5 from three) to go with 4 assists. In OT, he had 5 points and that sweet assist. Little by little you see him making progress. Something about this game just had flashes of what future Lonzo will look like. He’s more confident, he’s getting the team to execute and he’s making big plays himself with the game on the line. You can see him imposing his will. Definite growing game for the kid. The Stats: He scored 18 points on 7-17 shooting (4-10 from three) to go with 6 boards, 10 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers and 5 fouls in 33 minutes. He was a -12. The Action: Bounce pass to the rolling Chandler for a dunk. He swished a quick-fire face-up baseline jumper. His bounce pass was picked off, dunk the other way. He swiped a kickout. Bounce pass to KCP in transition for the layup. He missed a wing three on a kickout. He found Hart for a three. He missed an iso step-back jumper. He missed a drive trying to score through contact. He hit Moe for a three. He dunked in transition when Ingram found him under the hoop off a no-looker. He forced a wing jumper and missed. He missed a corner three on a kickout. He sank an open corner three in transition. He sank a wing three after inbounding the ball and running to the three line to beat the shotclock. Second Half: He hit KCP on the double drag screen for a three. He swished a wing three off a handoff from Kuzma. He attacked off the three line, drew the D and hit Chandler for the finish at the rim. He missed a wing three. He attacked and threw it away. No idea what he was thinking, leaving his feet on the perimeter and he threw a pass out of bounds with 2 minutes left. He got his man in jail, worked it in deep and lobbed to Zubac for the finish. He missed a step-back three with 40 seconds left. Fouled Westbrook with 2.9 seconds left on a three, up three. Overtime: He attacked and was tied up, he won the jump, got it back and drilled a deep three. He missed a wing three. Aggressive attack down the lane off the catch, he switched hands in air and he scored the lefty layup. He waited for the screen, attacked, looked like he was about to crossover, but instead it was a pass off the dribble to Zubac for a score (just froze the D).

Kuzma -- He sank a corner three on his first attempt behind the arc and said something to his bench. Not sure what, but the shot looked good, perfect arch, perfect touch…and stayed good the rest of the night. He’d sink 7 threes on his way to 32 points on 20 shots. He didn’t get a lot of minutes in the first half. Luke was making quick subs tonight of anyone who wasn’t listening to him. I think Kuzma got the hook for not moving the ball in the second quarter. He did have two fouls, but Luke was pulling people right and left when they made a mistake. Anyone who wasn’t playing the right way, sat. Kuzma had 13 points in 13 minutes in the first half. He got long run in the second half, playing 23 of the 29 available minutes. In crunch time, he had some moments. One was a drive and dish to Zubac for the And-1 dunk. Another was a set play, the team executing to perfection, finding Kuzma curling off a screen to hit the floater in the paint. (Kids running a play and getting it done). In OT, he was the one who found Zu, who then hit Ingram for the dunk. He also had a killer pull-up from midrange off the screen. National TV, announcers gushing about him, Kuzma drops another 30+ point game. It was a good night. The Stats: He scored 32 points on 11-20 shooting (7-12 from three, 3-3 from the line) to go with 8 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, 4 turnovers and 4 fouls in 36 minutes. He was a -4. The Action: Contact with no call in transition, turnover. He smothered his man on a drive to force a bad pass. He sank a corner three on a kickout. He swished another three on a swing pass. He attacked and was called for the charge. He sank a pull-up wing three after losing his man on a screen. He missed a three working a similar play. He picked up his second foul with 3 minutes left in the first. He sank a turnaround baseline jumper. He was fouled in transition (swished a half-courter after the foul), he made both FTs. He didn’t give up the ball on the break, missed the layup, three the other way. Second Half: Handoff to Lonzo for a three. He traveled on the three line. He sank a catch-and-shoot three straight away. He charged on a kickout. He swished a wide open three straight away on the kickout from BI. He missed a runner from 14 feet out. He missed a three straight away. He scooped up a loose ball and rocketed a pass to Zubac under the hoop for a dunk. He split a double team and scored a layup while avoiding a charge (probably should have been an And-1). He missed a wing three. He iso’d and drilled a deep three. He sank a step-back three off the double drag screen play (might have been an And-1). He missed a wing three on a kickout next time down. He attacked, drew the D and fed Zubac for the And-1 dunk. He curled around the screens, took the pass and hit the floater in the paint with a minute left. He ran clock, attacked and was blocked, shotclock violation with 5.3 seconds left. He missed a corner turnaround three at the buzzer. Overtime: He attacked and missed a floater, getting knocked down with no call. He attacked, this time pulled up and drained the 16-footer under control. He made a tech.

Ingram -- -- Career high in assists tonight. I think he got away from what he found successful early in the game. He was seeing the floor well, almost playing pass-first. He led the Lakers with 9 assists in the first half. The best was a sweet no-looker to Lonzo for a dunk after gaining dribble penetration. As good as that was, it was him just making the right play, the correct pass, again and again in the first half that resulted in the big assist numbers. Just 2 points on 0-2 shooting in the first half, but he was balling. In the second half, he tried to force it a bit more trying to get some points. That took him out of his flow. His one make tonight was that dunk in overtime when Zubac found him. Good job on the freethrows tonight, making 6-6. That’s no small thing. The Lakers don’t make it out of regulation without everyone knocking down FTs like they did. The Stats: He scored 8 points on 1-9 shooting (0-2 from three, 6-6 from the line) to go with 5 boards, 11 assists, 1 block, 4 turnovers and 1 foul in 38 minutes. He was a -9. The Action: Wild finish on a drive, not close. Early offense attack and he kicked to Kuzma for three. His lob pass was picked off. He missed a corner three. Nice feed to Zubac under the hoop for a dunk. He got around his man in transition and hit the trailing Chandler for a layup. Fouled in transition for FTs, he made both. He changed directions off a screen, attacked the big, muscled through the contact and no looked to a cutting Lonzo for the dunk (balling, right there). He found Lonzo in the corner in transition for a three. He traveled on a kickout, not ready or unwilling to catch-and-shoot. Second Half: He missed a wing three to start the half. He attacked and missed an easy one at the front of the rim. He threw a pass away on the break. He missed a layup he should have had. He attacked and drew FTs at the wing, he made both. He attacked and kicked to Kuzma behind him for the open three. He iso’d and missed the turnaround in the paint. He was called for a travel trying to tip in his miss that didn’t hit rim (might have been blocked). Overtime: He attacked, took contact and no call on the miss at the rim. He dunked off the sweet short-roll feed from Zubac. Intentionally fouled with 15 seconds left, he made both FTs. He blocked a three.

Chandler -- -- Decent minutes. He also gave up an offensive board on a missed freethrow that led to a 5-point possession. We just got killed on that. But other than that and missed putback jam he should have had, solid minutes for Chandler. Yes, OKC got off to a hot start against our starters, but they went 5-6 from three in those first few minutes of the game. You don’t expect that. So that’s where a chunk of Chandler and some of the starters’ negative in the +/- was. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 3-6 shooting to go with 7 boards (3 offensive), 2 blocks, 1 turnover and 1 foul in 16 minutes. He was a -13. The Action: He dunked off the screen-roll with Lonzo on the first play. He missed a short one in the paint. His bounce pass was picked off. Layup trailing the break for BI to find him. He missed a layup. He swatted a layup out of bounds. Second Half: He missed a putback jam he could have tapped in. Drive and dish from Lonzo to Chandler for the dunk. He gave up an offensive board on a missed FT.

Caldwell-Pope -- -- Decent game from KCP. He was hitting shots. Had one of those steals jumping a pass lane for a score. The young kids were rolling tonight so Luke went with the lineup that had momentum to close, but KCP played another solid game. The Stats: He scored 13 points on 5-7 shooting (3-4 from three) to go with 2 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 turnovers. He was a -13. The Action: He reversed in transition off the pass from Lonzo. He swished a corner three off a swing pass. He swished a wing three after taking a dribble on a kickout. Second Half: He missed a jumper from the top of the key, not open but he took it anyway. He sank a three on the double-drag screen. Easy steal off a kickout and he took it for a layup. He drew a push-off foul, going down quickly off a shove in the corner to get a stop.

McGee -- -- He gave up two offensive boards on missed freethrows in the first quarter. One resulted in 5-point possession, the other a 4-point possession. That was killing us. Luke called a timeout and yanked him after the second one. This is why you are on the bench now -- not ready to play and not getting it done on D. Luke mentioned it in the first quarter interview that they were no boxing out. McGee was a -8 in those 5 minutes. He was a little more active in the second half, but Zubac was doing well tonight, so an easy decision not to run him long. The Stats: He scored 4 points on 2-2 shooting to go with 2 boards, 1 block and 1 foul in 9 minutes. He was a -9. The Action: He scored off the glass after taking an interior feed. He fumbled away a bounce pass. He gave up an offensive board on missed FT (the Thunder would score on that possession). He gave up another one, this time for a three. Second Half: He erased a Westbrook layup at the last second. He fumbled away a defensive board for a dunk, but got it back with a putback dunk on the other end.

Hart -- -- “His hustle, energy, winning basketball plays tonight, without him we don’t even come close to winning that game,” Luke said. He had 10 boards, just one offensive, but it was huge. He came up with it with 35 seconds left and was fouled. Then, he knocked down both clutch FTs. It seemed like play after play he was coming up with the 50-50 balls and the big rebounds. It didn’t seem like he lost any of those 50-50 situations (and seems like he probably gets those at a pretty high clip in general). The foundation of his game, to me, is really that defensive rebounding. It seems like everything flows for him from there. When he’s helping the team get stops or turning those up court, good things always happen. He just needs to make that a nightly habit. “It started with JHart,” Lonzo said of the Lakers turnaround. He was very aware of his struggles and just went back to the blue collar work that he’s excellent at. The Stats: He scored 12 points on 3-6 shooting (2-4 from three, 4-5 from the line) to go with 10 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover and 2 fouls in 33 minutes. He was a +23. The Action: He missed a wing three. Nice dive to take a feed from Stephenson and score the And-1 layup, he made the FT. Interior feed to Zubac for a score. He pushed out, missed the layup but Zubac cleaned it up for him. His man fell, Hart hesitated, then swished the wing three. Horrible advance pass, right out of bounds (should have hit Kuzma in the middle of the court). He swished a corner three when Lonzo found him. Second Half: He was fouled on the offensive glass for FTs, he made one. He missed a tough 30-footer at the buzzer. He broke up a pass in transition to get a stop. He knocked a ball away from George to get a stop. Great hustle for an offensive board with 35 seconds left to draw a foul and FTs, he made both. Good hustle for a defensive board out at midcourt.

Beasley -- -- He wasn’t wearing his uniform shorts when he was about to check into the game. Confirmed Shaqtin’ moment. His game was all downhill from there. Moe thoroughly outplayed him in his limited minutes. Wish we would have gone to the rookie longer after his strong first half and Beasley’s weak one. Turnover prone, missing some easy ones. Just never on track from the wrong shorts onward. The Stats: He scored 5 points on 2-6 shooting (0-1 from three, 1-1 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers and 1 foul in 9 minutes. He was a +6. The Action: He missed a corner three. He missed a forced wing jumper with the shotclock low. Jab step and drive into the paint for a short one. He attacked and scored and And-1 layup, he made the FT. Second Half: He missed a short one in the paint (should have gone glass). He fouled a three-shooter for an And-1. He fumbled away a drive and Luke yanked him. He attacked and missed the finish. He attacked and fell for a turnover.

Stephenson -- -- He didn’t try to do too much. Picked his spots and was part of the first half unit that dug the Lakers out of the hole. Lesson temporarily learned from the previous outing. Luke’s had the quick hook lately, so guys need to fall in line. The Stats: He scored 2 points on 1-2 shooting to go with 3 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 2 fouls in 13 minutes. He was a +21. The Action: He hit Hart diving for and And-1 layup (he might have been trying to find Moe in the corner). He traveled instead of moving the ball, turnover. Second Half: He attacked and found Zubac for a score. He attacked off a crossover and scored a lefty layup next time down. He forced up a wing jumper, missed and wanted the foul.

Zubac -- -- Monster effort from big Zu tonight. Kid has grown into a man. We were down big and the game changed when he came in. First, McGee was awful. Second, the Thunder were going to their bench at that point, but the game absolutely changed. The Lakers bench was competing. He was a +22 in just 8 minutes in that first half, scoring 8 points on 4-4- shooting and grabbing 5 boards. He even crushed Schroder on a screen in the first half, sending him to the locker room for a bit. But he dominated in the second half. He was finishing strong, keeping control of the boards and pumped. The most amped up I’ve seen him. Late in the game, Kuzma attacked and dumped it to him. Zu powered in the dunk through the foul and yelled “And-1” to a crowd of Thunder players. In OT, some huge plays. The best was the backbreaker. We ran clock, Kuzma hit Zubac in the paint on the short roll. He instantly read the help D and fired the pass to Ingram coming from the corner for the uncontested dunk. Zubac said that was his favorite play of the night. He’s always been pretty good at those reads, but he did have a charge earlier in the game trying to score on a similar read. After the game, Zubac mentioned how much attention he paid to finding the perfect pocket for his teammates to pass to him. He’s always been very good at that. He’s constantly a target. Very impressed with the overall game tonight. He had no issues going toe to toe and even overpowering Adams at times. He finished with a team-high +35 in 28 minutes. Super-efficient scoring. Career night for Zubac. Never looked tired with all those minutes. Kid balled and played with emotion. "Where he's really grown is becoming more physical," Luke said. The Stats: He scored 26 points on 12-14 shooting (2-3 from three) to go with 12 boards (6 offensive), 1 assist, 4 turnovers and 3 fouls in 28 minutes. He was a +35. The Action: He dunked off the interior feed from Ingram. He fumbled the ball away in the paint. He sank a long jumphook, having to get it up quickly after camping in the lane. Interior feed from Hart, he kept it up high and scored the layup. Follow slam hustling in transition. Second Half: He dunked in transition after a bullet pass from Kuzma. He charged being too aggressive on the short roll. Lefty finish in the paint when Lance found him. His layup in transition was goaltended. He took an offensive board away from Adams and then scored the short one over him. He got a couple of bounces on the floater on the rim before it fell for him. He took a drive and dish from Kuzma under the hoop and powered in an And-1 dunk, he missed the FT. He threw a short-roll right to the Thunder. He finished the lob from Lonzo on the two-man sequence. Overtime: He battled for an offensive board, missed the putback, got it back again and was fouled trying to muscle it up, he made both FTs. Sweet pass from Lonzo off the two-man game and Zubac easily scored the layup. Can’t say enough about this next play, clock running, Kuzma hits him on the short roll about 6 feet from the hoop, Zubac instantly read the help rotation and hit Ingram coming from the corner for the uncontested dunk (Zu was pumped).

Mykhailiuk -- -- Good minutes from Svi, even getting some praise on the national broadcast for his defensive work. He had multiple plays where he stayed with his man and forced him into tough shots or even turnovers. Combine that with a couple of threes and some hustle plays. How pretty have a couple of those threes been in the past few games. He comes off the screen and gets some superb elevations. Kid might be a problem for teams in a couple of years and still so young. The Stats: He scored 7 points on 2-7 shooting (2-6 from three, 1-1 from the line) to go with 4 boards, 1 assist and 3 fouls in 19 minutes. He was a +14. The Action: He missed a catch-and-shoot three. He crashed the offensive glass and was fouled, he made the FT (Kuzma hit a jumper at the same time). He missed a corner three. Second Half: He swished a corner three in transition. He forced Schroder into throwing a pass away on the other end. He missed a three straight away, asking for the ball. He got tapped on a three. He attacked and fed Zubac for a score. He sank a wing three, nice elevation on the catch-and-shoot out of the timeout. He missed a baseline fade.

Wagner -- -- He’s put in some real good minutes lately. Thought he earned even more tonight with as poorly as Beasley was playing. Glad Luke got him some run, though. He sank a three, earned FTs and hustled. No love from the refs, but that’s par for the course for a rookie. But as a rookie, he didn’t shy away from the road game intensity. The Stats: He scored 5 points on 1-3 shooting (1-1 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 1 block and 1 foul in 8 minutes. He was a +11. The Action: Change of directions on the perimeter and he drew FTs on the drive, he made both. He drained a three off the double drag screen. Second Half: He was tripped on a drive with no call and missed. He was blocked on a Euro step, again wanted the foul. He got it back on the other end, stepping in for a charge.

Walton -- -- Turnover-prone start, and the Lakers fell back 16-7. Timeout. McGee in out of that… Thunder on fire from three (5-6) to start the game… Down 13, Kuzma had to sit with his second foul (he made three threes in the quarter)… A 5-point possession for the Thunder when McGee couldn’t secure a missed FT… Beasley in for Lonzo, Lakers down 17… McGee giving up another offensive board on a missed FT. Luke called a timeout down 17 and sat him for Zubac… The Lakers trailed 39-27 after the first quarter… Zubac, Beasley, Hart, Stephenson, Svi… Moe in for Beasley after a couple minutes… They cut the lead to 5 and forced a timeout… Down 3 when Kuzma came in for Moe. They tied it up a second later… Chandler, Kuzma, Hart, Ingram, Lonzo lineup, Lakers edging out to a lead… A 5-point lead was trimmed to 1 and Luke called a timeout… KCP in for Hart, Moe in for Kuzma who didn’t pass… A 40-point second quarter for the Lakers… The Lakers led 67-63 at the half. The Lakers were 10-19 from three in the half, the Thunder were 12-24… After edging up to a 6-point lead, they gave up two more offensive boards on missed FTs and a 5-point possession. Luke called a timeout… Up 1 after 5 minutes when McGee came in… Up 1, Hart and Svi in for Lonzo and KCP with over 5 minutes left… Zubac in for McGee with 3:21 left, Lakers tied… The Lakers trailed 96-95 heading into the fourth… Zubac, Beasley, Svi, Stephenson, Hart lineup… Moe in for Beasley, Lakers down 1 with 8 minutes left… Kuzma and Ball in for Moe and Stephenson… Down 3, Luke called a timeout shortly later… Ingram in for Svi, down 2 with 4:23 left… Luke irate after OKC got a possession that was out of bounds off Westbrook. They then scored an And-1 and he called timeout just to yell at the refs. Huge possession in crunch time, but not late enough in the game for a review… A 3-point lead after Hart makes a couple FTs with 35 seconds left. Huge. Timeout Thunder… Lonzo fouled Westbrook (foul to give…but timed it late) on a desperation three with 2.9 seconds left and he made all three FTs to tie it up… Timeout, Lakers… KCP in for Zubac… Kuzma missed a turnaround three from the corner. Overtime… “The message was simple. How much fun is this?” Luke said about his team going into OT… They responded… Up 3 with 3 minutes left, he called timeout… They stretched the lead out to 7 with a little over 2 minutes left… Up 8 with a little over a minute left… They executed and made the right passes… Kids outshined OKC in OT… Really liked the quick hook Luke has had lately, sitting guys down if they aren’t performing the right way. The team responded. Luke said he was trigger happy tonight, but you’ve got to do that to send messages. Luke is growing a little, as well…

Still in shock. They were great. Bad start but they finished it great. Lets go.

I am even more pissed now because we lost vs Knicks and Cavs.

My jaw is still on the floor, it was surreal seeing our draft picks on the floor together and close out against WB and PG13.

Our Summer League squad is growing up before our eyes

Our young core beating a team that's in all discussions of contenders. Yes, please!

But what a 3 pt contest it was... First half, I think Lakers defended the 3pt pretty bad. There were so many uncontested or poorly contested shots for OKC, no wonder they shot so well. Second half, I think the Lakers adjusted some and played it better.

A good win. This should be a case in all arguments were people want to trade all of the closers from this game for just one player. Just stupid.
This game nicely demonstrated the importance of deep bench. OKC does not have one, and it costs them.

Heck, even Luke played well this time.

Thanks, DB!

Great win without the guy I did not want here!
Loved their poise.

Stat I'm most proud of, 19-21 from the charity stripe. That's what gets wins.

Tears of joy in my eyes watching Ingram finding cutters and open shooters instead of forcing up contested mid range shots.

Kuzma had ice in his veins.

Monster efforts from both Zu and Hart.

Amazing. Favorite game along with beating GS at home on Christmas.

Thanks DB the write up must have been a labor of love tonight.

It was rewarding to see the young guys play like men. They were physical and they were fast and quick. The ball moved really well too. This is the type of game Luke wants to play.

Luke is starting to get a quick hook and with these young bucks that has what you need.

I love how Hart has responded to being benched. He is finally playing the type of game he needs to play.

Zubac wow he seems to have arrived and Luke needs to play him more.

Kuz seems to have found the the offensive flow gain.

BI tough game shooting but his passing the last few games is becoming a strength...he is becoming a playmaker.

Zo continues to make plays and a really grown in the last month.

Still wish Randle was here to be part of this.

We’ve flat out got to try and find more minutes for Svi and Mo once Rondo comes back. If they can get comfortable shooting from range coupled with their never failing effort,... that opens up A LOT for this team.

Thanks DB. Josh was a f'ing pit bull last night. Group effort no doubt, but Josh got to EVERY rebound and loose ball (many which he had no right to get).

Awesome write up DB!

Couple of random notes.

1. Lineup for a major part of the comeback in the second quarter. Lance, Hart, Svi, Mo, and Zu. Would have NEVER expected that against OKC. Two rookies, a second year player, a third string center and Lance killed OKC. Zu comes in down 17 and helps close it down down 10. Mo comes in down 10 and helps close it to down 3.

2. This games shows you what the team can do if two of the three youngsters (Kuz, Zo or BI) can CONSISTENTLY hit the three ball. Kuz and Zo had it going from three last night.

3. DB you hit the nail on the head taking about Zu getting tired. I kept waiting for him to get tired in the 4th and OT and it did not happen. I kept saying to myself "Luke's gonna pull him soon."

4. I was not just impressed by Zu based on his box score but to do it against a physical experienced big like Adams was HUGE. In the past Zu has had good games against weaker smaller players that were not starters. This was against a player of similar size and stature.

5. Throwback comparison time. Hart is reminding me of Kurt Rambis. Doesn't score a ton but is the glue guy who does the dirty work to keep the team together. BI looked like an inconsistent Lamar Odom last night. Long lanky distributor/rebounder/defender who on some nights struggled to score. Zo looked like a Ricky Rubio on a hot night when his jumper was falling. If only the jumper would keep falling.

LOVED the game!

Thanks DB! Wasn't around to watch the game yesterday, missed a nail biter and a gem it looks like! I would have loved to have seen the smirk wiped off Westbrook's face. What a turnaround for several Lakers! LG's gonna be a happier place to visit for a couple days now, hopefully longer.

Great recap DB! So glad to have such excellent T&R's to read on games I miss. This is such a great result I actually went back and read the last 20 pages or so of the game thread too.

Sounds like Zubac just spanked OKC inside, I'd have loved to have seen him yelling "And One" at the Thunder, wow there's the Angry Zubac I like. Also great to read about Hart grabbing every 50/50 ball, Lonzo figuring out how to play aggressive, score and dish double digit assists at the same time, Kuz more and more filling out the stat line beyond just the scoring column, and Ingram, even when he's missing, dishing out 11 assists and shutting down PG.

Kudos to Luke too on this one. We clawed a tough one into the win column. Houston next. Keep it up Lakers!!

This is probably the best win of the season, together with the W against the Dubs. I thought we were in for a long night when they were down 17 in the first. But then things just clicked. I also thought they won't be able to overcome the 4th quarter finish with OKC having momentum when tying it up on that bogus 3PT foul. But they did. Really impressed, Lonzo was amazing and more than made up for the couple of mistakes that could've been costly (the sloppy pass in OT that went out of bounds). Kuz, Zubac, Hart, KCP were also magnificent. Ingram's passses were great, but I thought he still forced the issue and overdribbled which resulted in some needless turnovers (and near turnovers), but he found a way to contribute without his scoring which is always a plus.

Please, build on this!

And thanks for the writeup, DB.

Something that was clear with the eye test was confirmed by the NBA:

"NBA crew chief Tom Washington acknowledged that Westbrook should never have been awarded free throws.

''Upon being able to see the review of the play, we realized that the illegal contact happened prior to his upward motion, so it should have been a side-out,'' Washington said." https://www.cbssports.com/nba/gametracker/recap/NBA_20190117_LAL@OKC/

Awesome write up DB and great win for the team last night!

Thanks DB! I didn’t see the game, just the highlights. It looked like there was a lot of trust between the guys last night. It looked impressive, especially Zu! He was a force to be reckoned with! Way to grow up, big man!

Thanks DB! Great win!! Was able to watch the second half and overtime. Will definitely have to re-watch the entire game.

BIG ZU - So happy to see him have sort of a break out game against Adams and OKC. Out of him, Chandler and McGee, Zu gives us the most offensive production and is making me wonder if he is the best of the three. Rooting for him to start soon and get resigned after this year.

ZO - I take back what I said in the game thread about him having to redeem himself in OT (which he did). The refs have admitted that was a bad call on Zo. What probably fooled the refs (as well as me) is the way Zo quickly removed his hands like "I wasn't trying to foul him..." Would have been better if he sold the wrap up "foul before the shot" instead of appearing to be half-hearted about fouling. Zo had a great game, hope he can perform like this consistantly.
