I'm not a fan of Avenatti but people really have it out for him. First the false allegations of abuse now this.

Without knowing anything about this, learning that Nike was involved in a large high school athlete scandal wouldn't be surprising.

I wonder if the 11 am press conference is still on?

Bet Trump won't say a word.

The guy has been spiraling out of control for a minute now. Maybe hitting rock bottom with some jail time will help him tear down and rebuild his foundations rather than having him flail at quick fix schemes.

Or maybe he'll quadruple down on the scams. We'll see.

why are they airing these quotes and timeline in public? Trying the case in public is suspect

Upon President Donald Trump's firing Preet Bharara as U.S. Attorney, Trump reportedly interviewed Berman among other candidates for the position.[17] Berman had performed some part-time volunteer work for the Trump transition.[18] On January 3, 2018, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Berman's appointment as U.S. Attorney, along with sixteen other former prosecutors, to serve in various offices around the country on an interim basis until the Senate can permanently confirm them

President Donald Trump last year suggested to acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker that Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan, take charge of an ongoing criminal investigating into hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, The New York Times reports.

I’m not sure exactly why, but this guy never passed the sleazeball test for me and came off as an opportunist more than genuine.

in my opinion, it appears he caught a little fame and could not accept his 15 minutes were up......he has been chasing the opportunity for camera time ever since, and in the mean time it appears he has made some very poor illegal decisions to try to put on a front. Lying to your client, and using their lawsuit settlement money for personal expenses is pretty egregious for an attorney. If true, his days as an attorney are over.

I know it is not apples to apples, and I do not want my comment to appear "political".....but the guy was on TV countless times demanding someone turn over their tax returns, and dude has not filed or paid taxes in years! That takes something....not sure what....but something to do that. It was a couple months ago his landlord made it public he has been trying to remove his law firm for a year because he has not paid the lease. It appears he is broke....and with the debt probably has a significant negative net worth.

Still, I want the dirty info on Nike.

TMZ: The Nike indictment says Avenatti had an unnamed co-conspirator, and we've confirmed reports it is famed attorney Mark Geragos.

That would make sense.

Yeah. I appreciate Stormy's story, but man did he take that exposure and run in all kinds of bad directions. And if you go after the sitting president, you best mot leave yourself exposed to criminal charges for his handpicked henchmen.

Yep. Attorneys reputations mean something to some jurors. I don't think this exposure will help Jussie. Association brings on assimilation

After the Smollett decision I'm going into a wait and see mode. Avenatti pleaded not guilty.

Is it your position that Smollet didn't fabricate a false attack and was unjustly arrested? I take it you also believe that Donald Trump has been exonerated, then?

I think his point, which is valid IMO, is it is often best to wait and see all of the evidence before rendering judgment. Doesn't mean you can't have an opinion one way or the other, but that is different than saying guilty or innocent.
