It absolutely stays true to the idea that the Joker's origin story comes from an unreliable narrator and will never be completely accurate. This movie is brilliant. He's truly insane, which is why he's such an iconic character.

Just saw it last night. Honestly, I thought it was an epic masterpiece. That performance was one of the best I've ever seen.
The sound, the crescendos, the timing, was also on point (really set the tone and had the theater rumbling). But it's definitely not for the faint hearted.

I'm perplexed at why this impression exists when the Disney toy commercial comic book movies contain so much more violence--stabbings, beheadings, shootings, dismemberments, suicide, genocide, nuclear bombs...

This is pretty similar to my opinion of Joker:

It's a mediocre rehash of King of Comedy and Taxi Driver.

I don't read the comics, but of all the cartoons and movies I've seen, the Joker's never come off as insane to me.

He comes off as extremely intelligent and rational.

That bank heist scene at the beginning of the Dark Knight was an extremely rationally thought out plan.

this was one of my very few critiques of this film. This Joker version shows zero potential as some kind of mad genius type villain.
