After I saw the reviews and kept hearing how good it is, I gave it a shot. Am I ever glad. It is quite different, quirky good, clever, funny, sometimes laugh out loud funny, and with a very special kind of soul.
Now I will pass this forward so that it is your turn to see how good it is. |
It is outrageously funny! They break The Fourth Wall to great effect. Thanks for the reminder to catch up on it! |
Just watched the Season 2 premiere last night and it is one of my favorite episodes of television. Everyone raving about season 2 wasn't lying if the rest is as good as Episode 1. |
The season 2 premiere was so (bleep) awesome! I’m up through episode 4 and no, the people raving were not lying. The show gets better as it gets deeper into everyone’s dysfunctions, or coping skills, depending on how you look at it. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Just caught the most recent episode of City on a Hill.
That and Chernobyl are the 2 best shows to come out this year. The show is special. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Stranger Things season 3 was great. It's nice to just unplug and spend some time with that gang and all the 80's nostalgia. |

I listen to the Bill Simmons podcast and in his recap he said "my daughter is never allowed to ride the carousel now!" |

Well written, well acted, well directed. Takes from all time greats like The Wire, The Sopranos, and the Departed. But not derivative. Has it's own story to tell. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I plan to watch this at some point. This is what RT has to say:
Season 1
City on a Hill
Critics Consensus
Though City on a Hill's meandering story can't quite match its ambitions, it's entertaining -- and even occasionally riveting -- to watch Kevin Bacon and company take on bureaucracy.
73% TOMATOMETER / Critic Ratings: 30
67% Audience Score / User Ratings: 15 _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

it's gritty...has a real feeling to it....I do not know early 90's Boston, but it feels like what early 90's Boston or any north eastern city would be.... |

My opinion of the show went up after watching this week's episode (4). Wasn't a bad show before that. Just picked up major steam.
Went from good to great. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I watched that Amazon prime show you recommended. The one with Miles Teller. You weren't lying. So slow. I fell asleep to it numerous times. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

good, because I kept reading reviews that were basically suggesting I lacked intelligence if I did not "get it".....and I never did. It is difficult to describe how slow it moves sometimes. |

I've been watching the show since the start and didn't know the character's surname was actually Saint. I thought that was just a nickname.
When did his mom get on board being in the drug business? _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

I was wondering the same thing....I was trying to recall the ending to last season. It appears that she is on board because she thinks he is working in a quasi-government type thing? |

So, I've watched the Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men and Game of Thrones...All of them hooked me on episode 1 of the first season. Watched the first couple eps of Breaking Bad. Just didn't quite do it for me. Seemed kind of boring.
Should I keep watching, and stick it out? |

I don't think Breaking Bad clicked for me until about Season 3. It's one of my favorite shows ever, so I'd say absolutely yes. But I understand where you're coming from. |

Mr. Campbell... who cares?
I just finished the first season of Mad Men. What a fantastic show, and I expect it only gets better.
That ending scene of Don on the stairs is heartbreaking. They really manage to portray him as sympathetic despite his shortcomings. |
