The trailer made it look like hot garbage to me. Didn't even give it a shot.

If you like martial arts I recommend Warrior.

Anyone else check out the Escape At Dannemora mini series on Showtime?

Very well done in my opinion, great actors like Benicio Del Toro and Patrica Arquette who are both great, but in my opinion Paul Dano and David Morse are also fantastic in this show.

holy bleep mr robot is good

first time I've actually wanted to binge a show in forever

couldn't make it past season 2 of the wire - cop show, etc. I appreciate how detailed it is, how good the writing is, how realistic it is, etc, but it's becoming repetitive and too formulaic IMO

if season 3+ are somehow way better let me know and I'll keep going with it

but for now mr robot and succession are my two shows right now

Warrior is so much better... Wu assassins is more like a comic book feel to it

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this one (it's really an acquired taste and Amazon essentially buried it): Too Old to Die Young. If you liked the movies Drive and Valhalla Rising this might be the slow grind for you.

Thanks, liked both movies. Trailer looks really interesting. Slow is perfectly fine, but important question for me - does the season end well? I've had enough of interesting series that end garbage this year.

Also, do you feel the story is done well, ultimately? Valhalla Rising ambled just a little bit too much for me.

Edit: kind of wished I hadn't watched the whole trailer for this, because it looks like it gives too much away, and it was plenty interesting in the first 30 seconds.

Anyone see The Boys? Solid B from me, fun stuff based on a comic which I never read, nor am I really into comics. If you are, maybe you've seen antihero superhero takes before, but not a trope to me yet.

It ends with everything unresolved, and is the definition of ambled. I personally loved it, because, similar to Twin Peaks, it's unlike anything you're typically accustomed to seeing on television, but I could easily understand why a person would hate it. It's definitely more on the Valhalla side than Drive.

Mr. Robot might be my favorite show ever. Season 2 was a little rough since it was all setup for season 3. Which was arguably the best season of TV I've ever seen. Episode 5 of season 3 is beyond words. I hold Sam Esmail (the showrunner) on a tier above all other showrunners.

To me, something can end completely unresolved, yet "end well" if well done and serving a story (perhaps multiseason story).

I loved a lot of Valhalla Rising. Ear-opening soundtrack.

on s2e4 now - see what you're saying because this season is definitely not as good as s1 IMO

good to know that it'll payoff though

Guess I'll need to trudge on a bit. I never came back after season 2.

Not sure it's possible to overhype season 3. Definitely give it a shot.

Anyone watch "60 Days In"? The new season is not only in jail, but undercover on the streets.

Not a fan of the new format. Watched the pilot, and I doubt I'll watch another episode.
Apparently it's a spinoff. So we might get the original format again. Fingers crossed.

I also liked the original format better, but I wonder if they may try to take some time off in fear of inmates catching on. I would think if I found myself in county jail and a tv crew showed up, I would definitely be thinking "60 Days In?"

I think I've seen MSNBC air jail/prison shows on the weekend where it literally is the documentary 60 Days In pretends to be. But if I was in jail, I'd be suspicious too.
60 Days In really screwed up the last 2 seasons though with casting. 2 seasons ago it was the girl who fell in love and blew her cover . And last year the guy with law enforcement experience told a CO he was undercover. Both were idiots.
If A&E brings it back, they need to weed out the risky candidates. Probably easier said than done.

The people undercover this season are absolutely terrible. The one lady they have living in the trailer is a total dumbass. She thinks she has found a drug kingpin because he drove a nice "Benz"......it was a C Class and he basically smoked weed! The guy in the apartment is going around to neighbors he does not know asking them to come to his cookout in an hour....doubt the cartel is living in his building. Finally, the two people inside the jail are a joke.

Not surprised at all. That was the vibe I got after watching the pilot. Unless they bring back the original format, I may have watched my last 60 days in.

That it does. It's a quality show from top to bottom. Directing, acting, production, etc. But damn, are we gonna have to wait another 2 years for season 3? David Fincher said they have a 5 season plan for the show. At this pace we'll get the final episode sometime in 2025.

the new comedy on HBO, The Righteous Gemstones is great. John Goodman, Danny McBride, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson and Walton Goggins.

Showtime has a new comedy coming on tonight that looks funny....On Becoming a God in Central Florida with Kirsten Dunst.
