New rumors started by Windhorst two days ago that Lakers should take a look at D'Angelo Russell has grown into rumors that Lakers may apparently have a meeting with him.
Dlo would also fit inside the $27 million max salary we have now without having to alter the AD trade and give away Wagner/Bonga for free.
Magic is gone, Swaggy is gone, every player from 2 years ago is gone so it's a clean slate literally.
What are Lakers' fans thoughts of him possibly returning?

I wonder if the Lakers signed D’Aneglo Russell using the mid-level exception, for one year, would they have his bird rights? 2016, 2017, 2020. That’s three years.

Just my opinion, but I would pay him. It would kill two birds with one stone: we would have our third all star and we would fill the gaping hole at point guard we have.

I would be all for bringing DLo back. The only other max guy I would want is Kawhi, but it is looking more likely that we may not be able to afford him. Dlo & Kuzma....AD....Lebron....keeps the team on a balanced timeline and the best chance to sustain long term competitiveness.
DLo will likely never be worth the money he will be getting paid from this point on in his career. Definite no.
He is destined to be the 2nd best player on a borderline playoff team, he will command a high salary because of his talent and skill but he's not going to be good enough help a team win consistently in that role. He's a good player and not a great player.
I will gladly eat my words if I turn out to be wrong but he just has that OJ Mayo/Tyreke Evans vibe about him.
Not worth 27 M, decent shooter but weak defender. Requires the ball in his hands which is not going to happen. He's not going to take what the Lakers want to give him.

Gaping? Lebron's doing all the ballhandling anyway. Where the hole is is on the defensive end, and DLO's not helping there.

Does not move me at all. High volume shooter who is not that efficient with the volume. I know there are many here who love him still and want him back and would quote me a bunch of numbers otherwise but I would just say thanks, but no thanks. We are much better off with splitting the money he would want on 3 and D types.
Don’t hate the idea at all. Obviously anything less then $27M per year makes proportionally more appealing.
I like the idea of having a young All-star to pair with Davis post James. Yet still could be a solid impact player with James the next couple years.
I know there is still a lot of b-ball to be played but the Lakers need to be mindful of keeping Davis interested in re-signing next year. At this point Lakers have to make that as much or more of a priority then James.
I understand the concerns of Russell’s flaws but at 24 years old putting up 21/4 reb/ 7assts/ 37% 3pt and shows flashes of not being overwhelmed by pressure are some impressive stats.

I don’t know the dynamics on the first max contract players can receive. But aren’t first max contracts, coming off rookie contract, limited to a certain ceiling?
If so, I wouldn’t mind at all giving that to Dlo on a 2/3 year deal. That would still leave between 7-12 million plus the mle.
