His decades long funding of climate change denial will live well beyond his good name, which I somehow always mispronounce.

A very old adage which I feel is apropos in the case, If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. RIP

You're right, so I'll say something nice right now.

He's not coming back.

Yep, he made the world a better place . . .

By leaving it.

Just because a person died shouldn't mean we forget the bad things they've done.

Who said we should forget? It's your right to disrespect the dead, it's my right not to. I don't respect Koch, I respect the dead.

I find it sad that someone with that much power, influence, and money chose to do that with it. To think of the people he could have helped.

I certainly don't respect the dead just because they are dead. I don't respect Epstein now that he is dead. I don't respect someone who committed atrocious acts because they are dead. They no longer get a free pass.

The only good thing the Kochs did was somewhat oppose Trump, but their version was not much better, and they still went along with him.

What these people have done is harm us and the future. That deserves 0 respect.

Lumping such people in with the decent people who have departed people is actually disrespectful of the dead.

I think it's really powerful that the billionaire son of a multimillionaire died at the plebian age of 79 rather than using his vast resources to survive into his 100s. A real man of the people dying at 79 like he did.

That's your opinion to which you are entitled.

You can call it my "opinion" if it makes you feel better. But it is a logically true statement.

That's your logic. Show proof to validate it to be other than an opinion. No more opinion, valid proof.

EDIT: I don't have a need to "feel better."
Reference your post Fri Aug 23, 2019 11:42 am Things that YOU thought were popular that now you think are atrocious.

You, a pessimist: "wow, David Koch died right after Jeffrey Epstein. I wonder who's next...Bill Cosby?"

Me, an optimist: "wow, David Koch died - can Charles and Bill be next?"

I respect people who do good and make the world a better place.

Kock dying makes the world a better place than when he was alive, so I will respect that. Otherwise, the act of dying is not respect-worthy.
