That team with no superstar won something like 17 of 21 games last season without Kawhi and are 15-6 this year. The "supporting cast" was WAY, WAY better than people give them credit for.
Yes, they even got some good play from Lowry in the playoffs. Their FO built a good core. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

yet the media made it look like Kawhi singlehandedly carried this team and singlehandly shutdown Giannis. Even comparaing Kawhi to MJ.
we have the most skilled bigs in the league. we should be the primary threat. i like our team. not as perfect as if we got kawhi, but i still dont think any team out there is going to beat us.
It isn’t 2009, teams don’t win with bigs. And Philly has the best.

Surrounded by 3 HOFers for his first chip, albeit the 3 may have not been in their physical prime.
Then surrounded by a group who happen to be 15-6 in the first quarter of this season, and who were 17-6 when LM sat last year.

MJ status right there
To be fair, MJ wasn't carrying a bunch of stiffs either. 55 wins and one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals without him. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

They improved the roster in other ways when he left: Kerr, Wentworth, etc.

Who cares what the media says? Kawhi did play well in the playoffs and his team looked for him in the clutch. Teams that win titles have solid cores, no player has ever won a title without good role players. Of course it helps if a star gets hot, ala Dirk. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
If Kahwi was the only reason Raptors a champ, how come Raptors without him have not succumbed to death but instead still emerge as one of the elites? Lol... reminds me of Bulls without MJ that was robbed a finals by the refs. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples
It will be a fun match up to see how the Lakers DPOY candidate handles the Geek Freak!
If AD can hold him to around 20 points, I think the rest of the Lakers will step up and shut down the rest of the Bucks, including their (true) Twin Towers! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

They'll never be able to show it, as long as Embiid plays with Ben Simmons it's 4-on-5 for him.

Lakers and Bucks both 20-3.
Yeah, i'm not going to lie I underestimated the Bucks to start the season but Giannis did a great job of trying to help improve some of his biggest weaknesses he had last year.
I'm really looking forward to that Bucks game now to see how the Lakers do against them.

Ahhh..the ever elusive Context.
LM will never be MJ status. He'll have to prove it on the diamond.
Man Giannis is a freak of nature. Dude looks like a man amongst boys out there every game. I'm curious to see how he plays against the Lakers with the length we have.

Because what the media says can make some posters into believers. And stick to the belief even if the reality sucks. The Raptors must have been a dodo based on the media. Ooopps... guess "we are a bit off" but who cares... we have believers. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples

The media pushed the narrative that Kawhi himself stopped Giannis in the playoffs and not the whole Toronto team building a wall in front of him. I suspect people just got a huge shock

maybe they wanna sell Kahwi as the next one. Obviously, not many expected Raptors to win the ring. KD and Klay's injuries clearly a big blow. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples
This is a video of Jazz beating the bucks by using the defensive scheme like what the raptors did.
Clearly Giannis struggle to drive the lane because there are already 2 players blocking his path for a drive, and everytime he gets an opportunity to go inside, Gobert is there.
I am imagining the if this is the Lakers. It will be Caruso and AD are the 2 players who will block his driving path. Or AB and AD. If he happens to get away from the wall, there's a McGee or a Howard that is waiting for him inside.
