Their team is better coached and better structured, and they didn't have Paul George tonight.
Just getting Kuzma doesn't solve this team's problem.
It's the same problem on EVERY LeBron James crafted superteam he's had for the past 5-6 years. And he isn't in the East this time. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

James is a ball-dominator. He will always play that way. He needs another guy who he can simply give it to and they can create their own shot. David will averase a lot of points, but he isn't that guy.
James is a point guard. He's just more Westbrook than Magic. Pelinka erred in not signing a creative combo guard to play alongside Davis and James. Rondo and Cook were no visionary moves, imo. |
who you thinking combo guard? |
Trey Burke |
I'd take him.. |

McGee and Dwight just don't do enough. Really needed Cousins. |
We did just fine out there with McGee at center.
We sucked when AD played center. Not enough scoring help from outside other than Green, and Bradley heated up at the very end. |
To start the game yes, but after that no.
Clippers went on a 7-0 run in the 2nd quarter with McGee and AD both in and got separation. Then to start the 3rd, they stretched the lead again with both AD and McGee in.
Dwight and Lebron together also didn't mesh well as Dwight couldn't finish. |

The Chicken Littles will come out tonight, but I'm not too worried...yet. I think Lebron being washed is overblown. He was getting where he wanted tonight and missed some good looks that he usually hits, including a couple of bunnies at the rim. The Clips defended him pretty smartly, too, and got him to turn the ball over. Overall, Lebron and AD have a lot more to give than what they showed tonight, I don't really have much doubt about that.
I think we just saw a team that was put together overnight play a team whose core is mostly intact from last season and already knows their identity and has good chemistry. And jokes aside, the Clips are pretty (bleep) good, with or without PG. |
The Chicken Littles, trolls & haters have been out all night. |

Yeah and weâll have the full MLE. praying LeBron can still be a top 7 player for the next 2 years because if he can, next year is our real shot imo. Think weâre maxed out as a conference finals team with the roster in its current state. |
Agreed all the way around. Add 25 mpg from Dragic in place of all the PG-sized SGs now on the roster and I think they can get over the hump. Oh...and another defensive wing. _________________ Under New Management |

AD and lebron can't both have off nights against the leagues top tier teams.

3 things I saw from the game.
We missed a lot of open shots and gimmes.
Clippers were white hot and making ridiculous shots. No amount of defense can stop those from going on.
Rotation and lineups need A LOT of work. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good |

Why did Lou agree to only $8M/year with the Clippers? Could we have signed him? Was no other team interested in paying him more? We paid $12M for KCP for god's sake!!

They are hot cause they came to the game with a winning attitude, same reason why they got all the 50-50 balls. They werenât just randomly hot. |

Part of the reason they were so hot is because we can't match up very well defensively. We had no one to defend Kawhi tonight. When PG comes back we are gonna get torched by both of them. And then there's still Lou Williams.
On top of not having the necessary perimeter defenders we also don't have enough scoring from our guards/wing players to go blow for blow with them. Just Lebron that's it. I just don't think we can beat them as constructed. |

DG was doing pretty good on kawhi.
then we put KCP on him and he made 7 baskets in a row in that 40 point 2nd quarter that we never recovered from.
then DG gets hot and gets us the lead.. and vogel takes him out.. WTF. |

Ball into Lebron and the movement stops. Ball into Davis and the movement stops. Lebron and Davis go iso. Didn't folks complain about Brandon "iso" Ingram last season???
The Lakers "Big 2" with only 11 points in the second half, with Davis completely shut down.
As another poster said, what we saw tonight is a staple of a Lebron team, except Lebron is no longer playing in the East. Long season ahead. |

Yes but look at the big picture. If we are relying on Danny Green to drop 28pts then we are screwed. |

game was good.
tough game to lose, but clips wanted it more. Bad game to start season with
as Clippers play with so much heart and energy. This is how they overachieved last year.
We have no energy guys. A lot of older guys that cant maintain high energy for a full 48, even Lebron.
We will be alright though, but teams with defense and high energy might give us a problem like Clips, Mil.
Lonzo and BI won't have helped us. I don't think Iggy would be useful given his age. Kuz will be helpful, but he needs defense to greatly improve. I think Hart would have been a great young guy to keep instead of going after (bradley, cooks, kcp) etc. Hopefully coaches unleash Norvell and give time to Kostas. _________________ I got Nothing interesting to put here |
