Another singer of my youth is gone, as Fredriksson has passed away at the age of 61 after a long battle with cancer. "It Must Have Been Love", "Listen To Your Heart", "Joyride", and "The Look" were big hits here in the U.S., all reaching #1.

Her, the singers from Cranberries, Divynals, who else am I missing from roughly that swath of time? _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
Real bummer, but damn, for the lemon she had with brain cancer...
She made a whole lot of lemonade because 17 years is ridiculously long.
Most don't survive past 2 with that cancer.
At least we got another 15 years more than of her contributing to the world.

I didn't know the singer of The Divynils (Chrissy Amphlett) died. First I've heard of that. Not to be crude, but first images that comes to mind are of her cleavage in the indelible video for I Touch Myself and she apparently died of breast cancer. That song and the Roxette songs (I remember when The Look was a hit) are really reminiscent of the 89-91 period to me. Seems like so long ago now. Delores O'Riordan of The Cranberries was a shame and it was right on the heels of Chris Cornell committing suicide. Another of the 89-91ish era was INXS and the singer Michael Hutchence hanged himself in 97.
A little later in the alt/grunge heyday, Kurt of course, then Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon OD'd as did Layne Staley of Alice In Chains. Hoon sounded like a male Janis Joplin and could mimic her voice better than anyone. Two excellent voices despite all the grunge and alt labels. Staley's performance of Rooster on Unplugged was great.

Most people will connect with "Must of Have Been Love" because it was in Pretty Woman, but for my money "Listen to Your Heart" was their best song.
Was just thinking the same thing. I loved "The Look" too.
Same. I was in 8th grade when their album came out. Man, I still remember being on the bus and the "popular" girls singing "Must Have Been Love". Oh Anne B.... _________________ KOBE

Was always partial to the two ballads, "Listen To Your Heart" and "It Must Have Been Love." I remember the video for the latter song was all over the place due to the fact that Pretty Woman was such a runaway hit movie. But I think I prefer "Listen To Your Heart."
