So, nerd that I can be, I inputted all the deaths, beginning on Mar 30 (arbitrary but it is a Monday) for the US, NY, NJ, and Mass. Why might most of your ask if you cared? Well, there's been talk (with charts) about the case counts, less, NY, NJ, and Mass, now being greater than the case counts back when it was crazy in the Tri-State area. I had not seen how the deaths compared.
As it stands, the greatest 7 day average (Apr 28 - May 5) was 1,168 deaths per day, less the 3 states. Yesterday, it was 1,093 (Jul 28 - Aug 4) very, very close. In other words, for the other 47 states, we are just about as bad off as we were at the peak, now, two months later. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Once again who is more ignorant, Trump or his followers? "These people" (a derogatory term) are a danger to themselves their families, the countryand theycan vote. The CDC actually had to issue a warning to save lives. SMH

IHME has updated their projections. As it stands today, the US is projected to have between 198,831 and 252,068 deaths by Nov. 1--though let's not forget, they won't be stopping there. As has been the case, the ultimate number will be a factor of how well the people respond to masks and social distancing, and how smart the states are regarding their easing plans.
I guess this means it will be closer to the 252K number.
Everything is g-r-o-o-v-y. Or so you'd think listening to Trump regarding coronavirus. Right?
IHME's projections just keep going up. Why is that? Well besides (bleep) leadership and (bleep) citizens . . . well, I guess that about sums it up.
IHME's new projections for deaths due to the coronavirus are now in a range of 227,476 to 391,723, with 295,011 as their actual projection point. This is for 1-Dec. To use the old 1-Nov projection point, as above, the range is 211,180 to 283,462, with 250,258 as the their actual projection point.
I wish for the deaths to stop, as does Trump. Here we agree. We differ in that I hate all the suffering and Trump hates that it reflects poorly on his leadership. A quarter of a million deaths on election day can't be a good selling point--at least in a normal election and with normal people voting. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Close enough for this thread I suppose, but I received a coffee order that I placed a 4:00 PM on Tue--from NJ. I don't know about the rest of you, but everything else I have ordered, mostly concert posters, is taking forever--to abuse the expression. I have one order via Priority Mail that is now two weeks out, that is somewhere, but who knows where.
Anyway, I complimented my vendor and received, in part, this message:

UPS is not offering guaranteed delivery times now. FedEx is delaying deliveries to hot spots or not offering deliveries to certain areas; USPS can't get cargo plane space.[Emphasis mine.]
The only thing I can figure is that because passenger flights are so far down, that many flights are cancelled; therefore that excess cargo space that is typically dedicated to letters and parcels, is pretty much useless if the plane just sits there. Too bad there aren't any pilots or planes free to help out. . . .
For anyone else having problems with package deliveries, please understand that besides the obvious problems with the pandemic creating mail delays, we also have the political problems associated with a mental midget and his tantrums, who is running the country, including the USPS. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Interesting. The wife and I have been ordering a lot of things recently and just about everything weI have ordered has arrived on time and some of it even ahead of projected time. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I ordered on of THESE 3 months ago. I still haven't gotten it. I didn't realize it had to be shipped from China. I've been in contact with the vendor. All I get is "Thank you for your patience" your product has shipped. I can't get the unit and I can't get a refund. The reason I ordered it was my last electric bill was over $138.00. I don't know if it works. If and when I get it I'll let you guys know if it worth the $90.00 I paid for it. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Lucky dog. I live in DTLA and anything USPS related has been heavily delayed. Even intrastate deliveries. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

This has nothing to do with politics. A lot of people aren't working and it's causing delays. Your flight theory doesn't work since we have the same issues with UPS Freight Ground having 2-5 day delays from LA to the east coast. Their reasoning is that they're short staffed right now. I have been sending PPE products out there and having A LOT of delivery delays.

So then why can't the USPS get cargo plane space. What, no planes? No pilots?
Two to five day delays might be expected. But a seventeen days for a package, and it is still not out for delivery, for Priority Mail from SF to Sac, is ridiculous. This is a one day delivery, normally. I have another from PA that is 13 days out. I order a lot and have been ordering throughout the coronavirus debacle, and what is going on NOW is different. What changed? Trump's donor buddy is now the Postmaster General. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

USPS doesn't have any cargo planes. They ship their air mail in the cargo hold of passenger airlines, which many have been cancelled due to lack of passenger traffic. Unfortunately, if you have a tracking number and it takes 2 weeks+ for them to send it, chances are its lost or stolen and you need to file a claim.

First, yes I understand how the USPS operates, as I stated in my first post.
Second, because so many items have been delayed, I want to wait before I request the sender to make a claim. I have had hundreds upon hundreds, maybe into the thousands, of packages arrive. Never has one been lost. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

I shipped stuff as a side business in the past. There is a first for everything. I've lost packages from all the major shipping carriers, USPS, UPS, FEDEX, reality is that it happens and you basically need insurance of some form if its something valuable.
