When was the last time the Lakers had a player shoot above 40% on threes at high volume? Byron Scott?
It would appear that a knock down shooter would really open up the floor for LBJ and AD, but for whatever reason the rim shrinks whenever the Lakers bring in shooters.
Green has been disappointing.
KCP's shot is streaky.
Kuz' recent 4-7 raised him to a miserable 30.5%
Cook's been average at best.
Heck, we don't even have a single guard that makes 80% of his free throws!
Vogel deserves COY for getting this crew of bricklayers to the #1 seed. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Definitely a concern. Can only hope that they can become more consistent or take better quality shots as they lock into playoff focus.
Interesting when you look at the numbers though.
- Green is not bad at 38% on 5apg
- KCP is streaky but still 39% on 3.5apg
- Waiters one game of 1 for 6 is concerning but a career 35% shooter who takes a lot of 3s will be helpful if he can make them, because he is going to take them.
- James takes the most 3s on the team at 6.5apg at only 35%
- Davis is only 34% on 3.6 3apg
Reality is the entire team is streaky or poor. Likely why those double digit swings in the scores occur all too often. Just have hope the streaks happen at the “right” time.
All I know is the Lakers are 16 wins away. Just have to keep grinding and get those averages up!

Before the season supposedly we were in the market for Seth Curry which would have solved our shooting woes but Green and Bradley were brought in instead.

We're 18th in the league in 3-point shooting, which is actually better than I expected at the start of the season.
Green is shooting 37.7%, which isn't that far off his career average of 40.2%
Kuz is shooting what he did last year.
KCP is shooting 38.8%, which is a career high.
The strengths of the team aren't shooting. It's a team built around defense and efficiency (we lead the league in FG%). But we don't have any illusions about what we are. We only take 31.5 threes a game, which is 23rd in the league.
Shooting is not our strength but it's not a weakness either. Nothing to be concerned with unless you're one of those people who think we should be top 10 in everything.

Which is great . . . but we do have dry spells at times, which would be alleviated if we had some knock down shooters. The game plan vs. the Lakers is to wall off the paint and dare the "Little 10" to beat you from the perimeter. Most games, we get into the paint enough to win - but the playoffs are the true test. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Yeah, you see the Mavericks and Rockets absolutely light it up but I don't see either of those teams winning the championship at all because that's all they can do.
This team is built for the Playoffs when it becomes more of a half court game and every possession counts on both ends, we have one of the greatest just overall game controllers in NBA history leading us as well with the very possible DPOY as his sidekick. Luckily, this season there is no Warriors (before they fell apart) level team and everyone has clear weaknesses and honestly there is not a single other team i'm not comfortable saying we can beat in a series.
We also have 5-6 guys that can get red hot in any game. Even though I do agree it would be nice to have at least one consistent pure 40+% shooter we're still in the drivers seat.

Agreed - if our defense is on, we'll manufacture the offense. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

It's a problem when the Warriors will be back at full strength next season.

You can't have everything. I'm not sure that there were any knockdown shooters that were available to us, and if they were we would have had to sacrifice and other areas to get them. I'm satisfied with the team composition
Well if there's no crowd maybe we should re-sign Sasha. He allegedly never missed in practice. Maybe we can hypnotize him into thinking it's practice. _________________ KOBE
Every champion in the last ten years has been top five in Total Shooting Percentage.
The last team to win the title without being top five?
Us in 2010.
The problem is that no one has done this since the three pointer became a focal point of the NBA offense.
We are currently top six at 57.7% The Clippers and the Raptors are at 57.4%
Since we are only a percentage point behind Miami the league leader at 58.7%, I still consider us one of the favorites... but shooting statistics are important predictors of a team success, if not the most important.
Our problem is that we rank 18th in 3 point% and 28th in FT% but we are 3rd in 2 point %. So if you take away the easy AD, JaVale, and Dwight buckets... you can neutralize our offensive efficiency.
This is another reason why we can't trade Danny Green until we find more players who can shoot threes at over 40% and FTs at over 80%
There is an article floating around that the Lakers led by their two leaders prefer not to have shoot arounds on game days.
After 10/40 3pts and 35% FG% for the game...
May want to re-think that strategy!
It’s worded as “No Shoot Around” to avoid having to speak with the press afterwards. It’s a relatively new work around which some teams use. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant
