Why????? Huh?

Dude, I have been watching Lakers basketball for 45 years….this is the same preseason that the Lakers go through every year. That hasn’t changed.
Preseason is a feel out time…get players used to playing again, coaching evaluating rotations, etc.

This is what preseason is…

Do you remember the Shaq/Kobe/Phil Jackson Laker team preseasons? These games don’t mean sh*t…

Crazy if anyone panics. I actually think the team looks really good. I love what I am seeing in some players. It’s going to be great.

Sarcasm... someone had to start this thread.

I know others are master of panic. I could care less lol

It's "I could not care less." Someone on LG corrected me several years ago. I'm paying it forward. LOL!

You're welcome. Might not have been me, but my guess it was.

There is zero reason to panic, our star players haven't really play. The issue with the two preseason game is when both team didn't really have their star players playing major minutes, the field is leveled and there is no reason we get blown out like that.

I get it, the whole point of preseason is not winning, it's meant to be testing rotations, figuring out offense and defense set. But while we are doing that, at least put up a good fight. Our team feels like still in vacation mood just coming out of a championship. It's time to wake up and put some effort to play.

Panic would definitely be overreacting prematurely at this point but...

I think the coach said he wish they were farther along and...

So do I.

He and I have seen some things we’re not encouraged about but I’m hopefully optimistic that they will improve by time the other two stars join the party.

Concerned to this point. Will feel better when we start winning outright some quarters and some games.

No reason to panic. But obviously time to start getting the Big Three on the court together to build some type of chemistry together and with the other players.

Team chemistry on both ends looks like crap so far.

It seems like it's time to get the big 3 on the floor at the same time so they can get some game film with a few of the role players. I'm not sure we should throw away the first few real games gathering evidence for 3 or 4 competing theories of how this will work.

Not sure, but with 82 regular season games still left, I'm gonna hold off....

That's a no rebound lineup, that may work against the Warriors but not against most teams. AD is not a physical rebounder and LBJ and Westbrook will be asked to box out I don't see it. I eventually see Howard being in the starting lineup.

Dwight is - making his free throws at a fair clip- away from the closing lineup too. It's real enjoyable for me watching this team play when he & AD are anchoring our front line.

Glad we got Dwight back and I wish we could have gotten Javale too. They are both lengthy and quick running defenders. That was a magical championship lineup that should have been kept together longer. The old saying if it's working to try to fix it.

It’ll likely be a rough 15-20 games to start the season.

We'll start somewhere around 5-5 in our first 10 games. Maybe even 10-10 in our first 20 games.

But then we'll hit our stride. And the rest of the season we'll be constantly between 7-3 and 9-1 for our last 10 games. We're a lock for a 1 seed in the West. And I don't see any playoff series in the Western Conference going past 6 games.

Only variable is health (of course).

And I wouldn't mind grabbing a rotation level 3 and D guy with size. I love Trevor. Always have. And I hope he comes back healthy. But he's a little bit long in the tooth. Melo should be used as a 20-25 minute scoring punch off the bench. What we all wished Kuz would turn in to. His defense is sporadic at best and shouldn't be relied on. Particularly late in games.

Not sure Westbrook is capable of playing off ball in a supporting role.

If Carmelo is playing a big role on this team, then they aren’t a championship contender. He’s a fringe role player at this point in his career. Great to have on the bench and in the dressing room… but I have a feeling we are going to be seeing too many shots and too much one on one play from the both of them.

And that sounds like a disaster to me.

He was not brought in to play a supporting role off ball.

Melo has been a solid role player for the last two seasons. Better than fringe. His usage has been well below his career averages the last couple of years, so I'm not sure where you are getting this notion that he will get too many shots. He clearly signed on for a bench role. He can clearly average 13-16ppg in a bench role shooting 40% from 3. So yeah, I think the team can use Melo's offense off the bench and his floor spreading shooting. The idea that the team will default to a 37 year old Melo playing ISO ball while Lebron, AD and Russ stand around and watch is a bit of a stretch, no?
