My vote would go to ST TNG. It always had consistent acting/directing and writing.
But, depending on how this next season goes, Battlestar Galactica might just pass TNG. |

I've never been a ST fan so I can't vote that way.
The current BSG series however, beyond being one of the best sci-fi series of the past 25 years, is one of the best shows on TV. Period. |

The original Battlestar Galactica, hands down.PERIOD!
but maybe thats more than 25 years ago, I think its from the 70s. I just love the way everything worked together, the egyptian looking fighter helmets, the search for earth, the whole storyline was awesome! |

Haha! You serious? Maybe if you're rating based on cheese factor.
For real though, there were some good things about that series. The concept for example is great, but the acting is horrible and the storylines are pretty weak. Go back and re-watch some of that series. It's so campy I can't believe it. I'll always have a soft spot for that series, but man, it can't hold a candle to the current incarnation. |

you're right about going back and saying "wth"?? I rather not, I like to remember how it felt back in the day. I 've done it with other old series and got that same feeling of bad acting and cheesfactors LOL
Does the new one have the same story line and concept about looking for earth ? |

Same story line. But the series is less about the plot of getting there and more about the human condition. That's what makes it so good.
There have only been a few dud episodes in my opinion. |

^^^ Yes it does have the same basic premise, but I think it's more evolved.
Humans created cyclons. Cylons became self aware and evolved eventually breaking away from Humans who basically kept them as slaves. Cylons attacked the Humans basically wiping out their planet except for Galactica and a fleet of other non-war ships. Galactica now looking for earth - a planet of legend - where they can connect with other humans and hide from the Cylons.
I hear ya on not wanting to go back though. I just watched some old Voltron episodes recently.
So bad, yet I remember them being so much better. I wish I had never re-visited them. |

ill check it out! When is it on?
I remember watching the 1st episode when it fist came out.
What turned me off is how the cylons look human. FOr some reason I didn't really like that. Also the ships looked too computerized from what I remember, like a really good looking video game. I'll give it another try thought beause the reviews are all so good for it. |

Off-season right now, so not sure when the repeats are on. I recommend renting the mini-series, which is how the show started. That way you can see it from the beginning and judge as to whether it's interesting to you or not.
The cyclons are fascinating in this show. There are human versions, but also the traditional robotic looking ones that basically look the same as the first version of the show. There is an interesting dynamic between the 2 versions that I hear will be explored more fully in the next season. But I will agree with you, the effects aren't great on the show - like the CG of the ships. But the great acting and storylines really are what the show is about. |

Does SG stand for Stargate? The first few seasons were good. But it tailed off plenty in the last few seasons. |

It's somewhat borderline whether people consider it sci-fi or not, but The X-Files is in my top 5. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

I felt that way about so many things from my past.
I remember getting freaked out by "The Dark Crystal." Re-watched it with some friends in grad school and my youth died with that movie.
Old cartoons, old movies, that were once so wonderful now are so....disappointing. Sigh.

1) Firefly
2) SG
3) Babylon 5
4) Voyagers (The original Sliders)
BSG should have been on the WB. It's basically Dawson's Creek in space. |

Wow, good call on Voyagers! I used to love that show. But as has been discussed in this thread, I'm a little scared to think about how those episodes would hold up if I were to go back and watch them again now... |

The best Sci-Fi show ever and forever is...
The Twilight Zone.
