How do you like yours cooked? T-Bone Steak is amazing juicy good. Outback Steakhouse has some good ones.

I'll eat at Outback, but I wouldn't call their steaks "good ones".

How I like it cooked is just beyond rare. And how I eat it is exactly how it's cooked. If I need steak sauce, that means the steak sucks.

And for the record, putting ketchup on steak is grounds for a beating.

Save up some more allowance money, 2.0. You've got to go to Ruth's Chris.

But I guess I can't really talk too much, since I've never been to Lawry's. I'll be going for mine and my wife's anniversary this year, but as of now, I can only imagine what I'm missing.

A1 sauce is good for steaks, and not everyone agrees if you put sauce on a steak it mean its suck it just makes the steak a lot more better.

Heard about Ruth's steakhouse, never really thought about going there even though I have heard good reviews. I will try it out eventually.

Best steaks I can recall having are at a place called JD Hoyt's in Minneapolis, and Daniel's Broiler in Seattle. Both on the corporate dollar cuz I would never shell out that amount of cash on my own.

Not really steak, but the best Kobe beef I've had in the US was at a place called Mako in Beverly Hills. Amazing! Not quite true Japanese style, but still really good.

I gotta go with Exick on this one 2.0. You're right in that putting steak sauce on doesn't mean the meat sucks, but when you've got a really good hunk of steak there's just no reason to put anything else on it.

lol, made me think of what a friend shared. he is a civilian who volunteered for a tour in (iirc) Afghanistan.... anyway, he said that some nationals were contracted for the mess hall... he said that the food they served was so crappy... they boiled the steaks... seriously.

btw, i think that is good grounds for some steak sauce

You need to get out more and go to a REAL steakhouse.

Craft Steakhouse
Smith and Wollensky
Nick and Stef's
Morton's

Ruth Chris is pretty good, probably one of the better of the real "chains".

Best steak I have had was the Kobe steak at Craft Steakhouse in the MGM Grand . . . in fact was close to one of the best MEAL'S I have had. They just opened on in Century City and that is on my short "To Do List".

Lawry's is off the hook. I haven't been to Ruth Chris's yet. Houston's has a great prime rib. Outback is cool. Usually the best steaks are the ones you cook for yourself because you know the cut you're getting and you can jazz it up as you really like it.

If its substandard meat (i.e. Dennys, IHOP, black angus, etc.) I'll put A1 on it... because the meat alone needs more flavoring to mask its low quality. Ruth Chris sometimes doesn't get the best meat (better than Dennys or black angus of course, just not as good as the top steakhouses) for this very reason because they put so much butter on it, it doesn't matter.

As you get older and your taste-buds get more refined, it becomes harder and harder to cheapen a meal by over-flavoring it. You notice, for example, kids using ketchup like air, while adults tend to eat things much more plain or things which kids might consider more bland. It's also because adults are much more sensitive to tasting sweet than children are.

In any case, the best "steak chains" I know of are Morton's, Palm, Smith and Wollensky's, or Flemings. However, the best steak restaurants are usually more local establishments with a few exceptions like Gallaghers of New York/Las Vegas for example.

Everyone has their own favorites... some like a leaner steak like a New York strip while others like something more tender like a Filet and some (like myself) prefer something with a little more flavor, like a ribeye. Of course a porterhouse/t-bone is generally the best of both worlds. My favorite steak is a bone-in ribeye medium rare (towards the rare side).

On another note, Lawry's is probably my favorite MEAL of all time just because its such a complete and reliable (same every time you get it) meal. I love the cream of corn, workshire pudding, and the salad they make... that's not even to mention the prime rib (which isn't even my favorite part of the meal, I love the creamed corn). The best prime rib I have ever had though was at the Palm steakhouse at Ceasar's palace in Las Vegas.

Best steak in the world is at the cattle baron near Glacier National Park in Montana. The cow you eat is slaughtered the same day you eat it. Their cows roam around right behind the restaurant. Not only that the steaks are at least three times bigger than your average steak. You can almost hear the steak moo as you bite into it.

I had some steak tonight that I made at home. I cooked it the Alton Brown stovetop way since I don't have a grill.

Get the steaks out ahead of time (30 mins to 1 hour)
Heat a cast iron skillet on high heat
Preheat the oven to 500
Liberally salt and pepper both sides of the meat, then rub a spoonful of oil (canola or olive) on both sides.
When the skillet is hot, put the steak on and let it sit for 30 seconds. Flip it and don't touch it for another 30 seconds.
Then stick it in the oven for 2-4 minutes depending on thickness. Flip the steak and put it back for another 2-4 minutes.
Take it out, put it on a plate, cover it with foil and let sit for about 10 minutes.

Eat with a fork and a knife. No sauce needed.

Yeah that place has some pretty great steak. Filet Mignon and the Prime Rib are the only 2 things I tried there. Very good.

555 east steakhouse in long beach is really good

i had their porterhouse and loved it. ive always wanted to eat at ruth's chris though, how much is it there?

and for houstons i went there for my bday but it was packed and ended up eating at union cattle company across from twin palms and buca in pasadena.
