I actually checked this out and damn it's good (and this coming from a strictly hip hop fan).

As in Neutral Milk Hotel?

Yeh. Surprisingly good album.

I've become so numb
I can't feel you there
I've become so tired
So much more aware
I'm becoming this
All I want to do
Is be more like me
And be less like you
Can't you see that you're smothering me?
Holding too tightly, afraid to lose control.
Everything that you thought I would be
Is falling apart
Right in front of you (Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow)

I have always loved the second verse of Crosstown Traffic. Nice lyrics and Jimi sounds great here.

I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can see you had your fun
But darlin' can't you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead

A few songs that come to mind:

I got a bad disease,
Up from my brain is where I bleed.
In sanity it seems,
Is got me by my soul to squeeze.
Well all the love from me,
With all these dying trees I scream.
The Angels in my dreams,
have turned to demons of greed,
That's me.

Where I go I just don't know,
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

Something has to change.
Un-deniable dilemma.
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear.

Constant over stimu-lation numbs me
and I wouldn't have
It any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

This is the springtime of my loving-
the second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing-
so little warmth I felt before.
It isn't hard to feel me glowing-
I watched the fire that grew so low.
It is the summer of my smiles-
flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes
it is to you I give this tune.
It isn't hard to recognise-
these things are clear to all from
time to time.

Talk Talk-
I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us
but I know that I love you so
but I know that I love you so.

These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion-
I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient-
Upon us all a little rain
must fall.

I got a few, I'll drop a new one every day. Here's my first:

Inspectah Deck of Wu-Tang - Triumph

I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block

Two that come to mind immediately are rap verses.

"1988 Senior Year, Garvey High
Where all the guys were corny but the girls were mad fly
Loungin with the Tipster, Coolin with Sha
Scopin out the honeys - they know who they are
I was the b-ball playin fly rhyme sayin
Fly girl gettin but never was I sweatin
Cause when it came to honeys I would go on a stroll
Until I met my match - her name was Flo
Yeah - I messed around with the one called Flo
All the troopers round the way used to call her a ho
But deep down in my heart I knew that Flo was good to go
Cause I thought it was me - like Bell Biv Devoe
But little did I know that she was playin' with my mind
The only thing I learned is, good girls are hard to find
I feel like Heavy D I need somebody for me
Not someone who's mind is blank and tryin' to juice me for my bank
Swingin' with my main man Lucky behind my back
What type of crap is that - yo, hows about a smack?
Word life, I can't front - thought I was all that
But now it seems, I met my match
Was a stone cold lover, you couldn't tell me jack
Settlin' down with one girl, wasn't tryin' to hear that
I had Tonya, Tamika, Sharon, Karen
Tina, Stacy, Julie, Tracy
Used ta love 'em, leave 'em, skeeze 'em, tease 'em
Find 'em, lose 'em - also abuse 'em
My whole attitude was new day, next hon
And believe it or not, they all got done
Well here comes Flo, with the crazy whip appeal
And I'm all true man, like Alexander O'Neal
Is this really love, then again, how would I know
After all this time tryin' to be a superhoe
She finally played me, but yo, I'd find another
Cause I got the crazy game and yo, I'm smooth like butter"

And

I take a shot of Henessey now I'm strong enough to face the madness
Nickel bag full of sess weed laced with hash
Phone calls from my (bleep) on the, other side
Two childhood friends just died, I couldn't cry
A damn shame, when will we ever change
And what remains from a twelve gauge to the brain
Arguements with my Boo is true
I spend mo' time with my (bleep) than I do with you
But everywhere it's the same thang, that's the game
I'll be damned if a thang changed, (bleep) the fame
I'll be hustling to make a mill-ion, lord knows
Ain't no love for us ghetto children, so we cold
Rag top slowin down, time to stop for gas
Beep my horn for a hoochie with a proper ass, uhh
It ain't easy, that's my motto
Drinkin Tanqueray straight out the bottle
Everybody wanna know if I'm insane
My baby mama gotta mind full of silly games
And all the drama got me stressin like I'm hopeless, I can't cope
Me and the homies smokin roaches, cause we broke
Late night hangin out til the sunrise gettin high
Watchin the cops roll by
It ain't easy... that's right

He wears a mask just to cover the raw flesh
A rather ugly brother with flows that's gorgeous
Drop dead joints hit the whips like bird (bleep)
They need it like a hole in they head or a third (bleep)
Her bra smell, his card say: aw hell
Barred from all bars and kicked out the Carvel'
Keep a cooker where the jar fell
And keep a cheap hooker that's off the hook like Ma Bell
Top bleeding, maybe fella took the loaded rod gears
Stop feeding babies colored sugar-coated lard squares
The odd pairs swears and God fears
Even when it's rotten, we've gotten through the hard years
I wrote this note around New Year's
Off a couple a shots and a few beers, but who cares?
Enough about me, it's about the beats
Not about the streets and who food he about ta eat
A rhymin cannibal who's dressed to kill, it's cynical
Whether is it animal, vegetable, or mineral
It's a miracle how he get so lyrical
And proceed to move the crowd like a old Negro spiritual
For a mil' do a commercial for Mello Yello
Tell 'em devil's hell no, sell y'all own Jello
We hollow krills, she swallow pills
He follow flea collar three dollar bills
And squeal for halal veal, in y'all appeal
Dig the real, it's how the big ballers deal
Twirl a L after every meal (FOOD)

Best rhymes i've heard.

Here are a few of mine, both from De La Soul's "The Bizness":

Dove's verse:

I speak divine of God theories, no need to be high
Always exhale the facts cause I don't inhale lie
Play the greater man's game to bounce off my losses
So I can earn the acres, the houses, the horses

Pos' verse:

I'm the most from the coast of the East, then flav
Droppin' more knowledge than litter on the New York pave
It's me, wonder why, in the place to be
Certified as superior MC

While others explore to make it hardcore
I make it hard for wack MCs to even step inside the door
Cause these kids is rhymy, sometimy
And when we get to racin' on the mic, they line up to see the lyrical killing
With stained egos on the ceiling

My rhymes escalate like black death rates
Over music plates
Being played as the rule
Kids thinking stepping to the Soul, you're labelled fools
Who claims to drop jewels
But for now, you do the catchin'

I don't worry on what crew you run or what section of Earth you reside
You're not even a man, so I don't deem it mandatory taking your pride
But I will, cause my man said soul for the life
You cried keepin' it real yet you should try keepin' it right

That's understanding microphone mathematics
Which leads to currency and temporary world status
And when one shows he posed threat to this one
This one will make that one into none
Simple equation - zero
You shouldn't play hero
If you can't stand strong like the island I'm from

Baby Professor of X-Clan on "Funkin' Lesson":

Abracadabra
Allah baby professor
All hail Funkin' Lesson
Sweet tongue, grand writer of scrolls
Now behold, let the legend unfold

Born in the cosmos
Where no time and space do exist
Vibe in the midst of the chaos
Mortals label me as illogical - mythological

They couldn't comprehend when I brought the word
A stick called verb, a black steel nerve
Teachin' those actors and actresses
Who write a couple of lines on what black is, really?

Then they label me a sin
When a brother just speaks what's within
I guess I'm blacker than the shadow in the darkest alley that they're always scared to go in - Boo!

I wear boots and beads, bags and braids, stick and scrolls, rings and
shades
Walk in the light of the moon but I never been a Batman
African - call it Blackman

Brother extracts your African steps in your movements
Enhance for improvements
Grand funk, a new home for the phrase
Funkin' Lesson the pathway

Let’s begin
Asalaam alaikum, people of good will
I offer you the greeting of thought manifested skill
To finally reveal the open-end chapter
As real as the flesh that you’re embodied in
To the skull cavity your mind is rotting in, I’ll be riding in
And there might have been a slight, rotation warp to curve
The course of course I’m cordial when I’m reportin
I won’t distort, I don’t contort
Connect conduct collect console or conceal
In full control of the roll of the wheel
My eyes are my appliance to decipher the science
Omitting defiance with the high-tech mic check
The buttons that flashed I pushed for absolute
Destruction your structure is lifted from the ground
The foundation mound is broke, so you float around
I’m embedded in what is known as beat
Let it be shown, every enzyme is complete
In time, you’ll see the pace of the pulse pump
Rapidly, heart rate, happily marched
I happen to be the dark man who holds the charts
I arch my horizontal line to make a rainbow
.. but it ain’t the same though, yo
The tried and true pros are chasing fool’s gold
Sliding through holes, like small rodents
It’s obviously, evident my embellishment
Peaks at two-ninety-two i.q.
Cause big ace is the spinner, in the, center
Inventor, and I plan to be a winner meaning
I’ll be in inner outer ovaries, overload, overboard
Overseas hearin oversees more, than the eye can
I stand, limited primative, sentimentalist, escapist
The way I shape this landscape, automatically makes this, vivid
I give it a rivet, hold it, stand at the pivot
I love it, learn to live it, then give you my exhibit
Not inhibited, not even a little bit, when I’m inclined
My attempts to redefine your hip-hop guidelines
And you can play the sidelines, ride rhymes in your spare time
My attempts to redefine your hip-hop guideline
You can play the sideline, ride rhymes in your spare time
Cause I’d rather stimulate your mind than emulate your purpose
And we have only touched on the surface of the serpent
Consider me part of the dust, in the dusk
I must collect the samples from the rust
Penetrate the crust then trust no living
Driven by the sonic, language passion
Your ashes spark the flashes, of the neon
From be-yond, what kind of planet could I be on?
I don’t know, but i’ma be on, for eons, and eons
While many think that they can never play out
Get trapped in a timeframe, and never find their way out
I stay off the dramatization, and I balance
Always seeking the challenge, to show the world
The incredible talents, I cut the corners, smooth out the surfaces
Worthlessness is just, half of the problem
I read the greek kid, I did every column
I note the animal kingdom, and the phylum
Whylum style em, until they get to hit the target
I mark it on the bullseye, of flies
And the buffalo wing in the sky
My architectnique sparks the dark streets of your resting ground
I suggest that you warn your town
I inhabit the oxygen, mark off the memory
You will never forget to remember the lone wolverine
Marine biologist machine with the verbal
Internal mind fertile, foot, over hurdle
Tight, like godel, and my word’ll be the last
I incubate, every other millineuim
I fast and I hibernate, to pass any of em
I am potent, untraceable
No color no odor no taste no replaceable parts
No heart, no head just a carcas
The darkest days come, right before the light
I watch my watch and stand right before the mic
By the powers, vested in me, I digested mc’s
Food for thought, caught on to the end of the rope and swung
Then stood stiff, as if, I was on a cliff
Not beneath sticks, my feet are made of bricks
When I walk my footprints end in cement
I am not practical, nor am I unusual
Nor am I oblivious to, hideous crimes
Every city is captured and trapped in my mind
Given the spinal tap, as the final rap climbs
My attempts to redefine your hip-hop guidelines
You can play the sidelines, ride rhymes in your spare time
My attempts to redefine your hip-hop guidelines
You can play the sidelines, ride rhymes in your spare time
Cause I have become the night owl on the prowl
Master of the freebin pile style
Cause i’m, om-nipotent
I’m, some, government experiment that is out of control
I’m from some big black hole
I square up, select, and rec’d, every tangle
I flare up, and you can try, any angle
Even bermuda, but I bury the barracuda
Then i’m, octa-gone in the wind with the pollen

and.....

Intro:
Mr. Mix Mr. DJ play that beat.
Won't you play if for me. In the mix mister hop
forward hop back. Hop, hop hop.

Verse 1:
The second somebody dies somebody else is born
People are celebrating while other people mourn
Home may be home to you but to me it's foreign
Even the matador don't pull the bull by the horns
One man's enemy is another man's friend
One man's poisons is another man's medicine
So let us stand, let us sit and let us view
The changing of the guard oh it's so hard to keep it true
It's the balance of the scales it can't be challenged or expelled
Soon as somebody lost somebody else prevails
Some someone is quiet at the same time someone yells
Half full or half empty water in the well
It's the Half and Half Hypothesis the 50/50 theory
Eerie as it may seem check your balance beam
It's the Half and Half Hypothesis the 50/50 theory
Eerie as it may seem check your balance beam
Now check your Balance Beamer with a feather and a rock
Wheath or not you find the answer is really not the plot
See it's like Love and Hate (love...and hate)
The same emotion different weight
People Love to Hate so I know you know just how this all relates
It's the posa and the nega tive
Mini and mega live
Arm a leg a leg an arm headed by a (bleep)
Like big and small
Short and tall
Night and day and so on
Some people are bashfull
Some people just love to get their flow on (they flow on)
So here goes one to grow on
I'm a go on and on and on till the principles are laid out
The scales of justice weighed out
Till your memory starts to fade out and your game of life is played out
Got to balance out the power don't we?
Balance your emotions
Push and pull positions like the moon pulls on the ocean
Balance on one foot that's equilibrium
Opposites attract and retract that's a fact
I'm a Libra y'all!
180 degrees but not that hot
So whether or not you find the answer is really not the plot (really not the
plot)
Because giving is recieving (and) and seeing is believing (and)
And the solar system rotes so harmonious and even
It's perfectly balanced

Verse 2:
Some people say life is about taking chances choices and decisions
Voices and opinions, politics and religion
Clues the past and cash and keys to the future
It's a possibility and probability on who's gonna execute yo ass
Some slow and analytical
Some quick fast on the dash
Like heads or tails but the head usually leads the tail
So I tell my tales from the head
Cause they're embedded inside my cells
Real quick let me tell you about a fact I know things will even out
You can disbelieve or doubt or even shout or leave it in your mouth
Cause how you gone reason wit grand Mother Nature
Running mother Earth controlled by Father Time who's the chaser
It's living and dying homey
Laughing and crying dude
Trying or lying my brother
Walking or flying fool
Now half of you are gone find the time to shine
The other half gone find crime, money weed wine
Till it's to late in a disillusion state of mind
I just found my peace of mind
Now they want a piece of mine
To late in a disillusion of mind
The orthodox is the unorthodox they just got you on the names
The insane and the sane are the same
It's a damn shame so many people's aim is so lame
And their gain is so minimal
Caught up in the subliminal
It's pleasure and pain, water for the flames, the wild and the tame
The style still remains if you use the right side of your brain
Instead of going against the grain
You can penetrate the vein to the point where what remains is a stain
Of this universal thang
That we call Balance balance..
