Just his perimeter game in general. Anything jumpshot related is very sketchy. He's like a transition and garbage play guy around the basket, which is unfortunately a big handicap in the NBA. He needs to work on that a lot, and keep trying to drive the ball the basket.

Actually, he has a pretty good mid-range game, which will serve him and us well. It's from distance that he struggles.

Yes- he looked good on those FT line and elbow jumpers where he was curling into the lane or the elbow.

I don't know what some of you were seeing. But Jabber was killing me all night. Ill-advised shots, over dribbling, missing great passing opportunities. The kid could barely dribble the ball up the court without a struggle. Strawberry is much more likely to get a camp invite in my eye

I'm with you.

I thought Jabeer was forcing shots for a lot of the night and had some bad turnovers. (Like the carrying when no one was on him.)

Strawberry had some nice drives and some nice jumpers, plus nice D.

HE seems like a better fit based on this game at least.

Ban.

Not ban. Looked to be the case. Dude has no hands and limited athleticism.

Which game were you watching? Caracter has a nice low-post game.

Admittedly, i didn't watch the whole game.
But the few plays i saw weren't good. Need to see more of him obviously.

Probably because a third of the game got preempted for that Miami BS

So happy I dvr'd it and then cranked through that nonsense.

Caracter looked good offensively. Showing some really nice footwork and touch with both hands. Ebanks' mid range J looked nice.

I really like this Ebanks guy and Caracter, both of them are great defensively and they are only going to improve if the lakers sign them

They both looked pretty good to me from the various clips I saw.

If "Davis Jr". can control his fouls, I think he'll be in tip top shape to make the team.

I'm glad the Lakers might have gotten someone in the 2nd round who can produce. I'm sick of seeing teams like the Celtics and Spurs luck out on players late in the draft.

Ebanks would be a great addition if for no other reason than the fact that only Kobe and Steve Blake can drive to the basket on the team right now.

I'm really hoping Caracter turns into a Big Baby type hustle player. I miss Ronny.

Do you think they can make the team?

We tend to be very optimistic about summer league or draft players. Didn't even Kareem Rush, Brian Cook one day looked good? That Chinese guy, Sun Yue too...

I mean, is there anything fundamentally differente from Ebanks and Caracter that would justify more optimism than we had with former draftees?

Davis Jr. is wrong. Think Boozer Jr.

Caracter w/ Shoes: 6'9.5
Boozer w/ Shoes: 6'9.5

Caracter Weight: 270
Boozer Weight: 258

Caracter Wingspan: 7'0.25
Boozer Wingspan: 7'2.25

Caracter Standing Reach: 8'11.25
Boozer Standing Reach: 9'0.5

Max Vert: 25.0
Max Vert: 26.5

I think they both make the team. Usually our draft picks were shooters to fit the triangle and offered little outside of that.

I think Ebanks and Caracter can contribute the little things immediately. If anything, they both offer a great deal of size at their position. Caracter would be better suited playing minutes at PF but still outplayed the second center taken in the draft.

Ebanks showed how quick he is for his size and showed a nice ability to make mid range shots.

I guess what I am trying to say is that BOTH of these guys build their game around high percentage plays and not just perimeter shots.

Considering Kobe Bryant was the Lakers backup SF last year Ebanks is a lock. Luke is done and Morrison is worthless/gone. The Lakers essentially replace Ariza for 5 million dollars less.

Rush and Cook were 1st round busts. Lacked work ethic and athleticism. Those were Mitch's dark years and he has learned from his mistakes. Yue was nothing but hype and he even sucked in SPL. Was never NBA quality.

Thanks LS... numbers pretty darn close,

... The one BIG difference is Ariza Standing Vert: 29.5 versus
Ebanks Standing Vert: 23.5 where Ariza has huge advantage...

... frankly that Standing Vert of 23.5 is not that good for a player his size, this isn't a mistake is it?

... it is interesting that their "Max Vert." are exactly the same but that the "Standing Vert" is so different...

Caracter's wing span (7'0.25 ) is not as good as I would have expected for a player his height (6'9.5)...

However Max Vert of 25 is not that great either but Caracter has weighed more than 270 in the past... Caracter has just recently gotten down to this weight from a previous 300+ in the past... if that measurement of 25.0 was when he weighed 300+ then I'm more impressed and would be interested in another test now that he's lost the weight... I would hope at 270 he could be closer to 30...

^ LS - I decided to look Caracter up...

I'm coming up with a "Max Vert: 30.5" at a "Weight: 280"... on draftexpress...

NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!!!!

Your other numbers are the same (correct presumably), it looks like you've probably got a bad number on the "Max Vert".....

Edit: I just noticed, you were taking the "Standing Vert" of 25.0... but you posted "Max Vert" for the description....

On Thursday the Los Angeles Lakers inked Devin Ebanks to a minimum deal of $473,604 and there still remains the formality of training camp and officially making the team, overall things are looking great for Devin. Will it make any drastic change??
