What The Lakers Are Getting In Jonathan Holmes

The Los Angeles Lakers made a relatively surprising move on Saturday, reportedly agreeing to a partially guaranteed contract with undrafted forward Jonathan Holmes from Texas. The Lakers already have 12 players under contract, as well as two players (J. Brown and T. Black) on non-guaranteed deals, and Robert Upshaw agreeing to a deal that has not yet been signed.

Holmes is another very intriguing prospect who rated as their 24th-best prospect. Though making the roster is far from a guarantee Holmes has a lot of tools to work with. For those not familiar with Holmes from his days with the Longhorns, lets take a look at exactly what the Lakers are getting.

Bobby Brown To Workout For L.A. On Monday

The Los Angeles Lakers are starting to put together a roster for training camp. Reportedly, Jonathan Holmes is rumored to have agreed to join the squad and another player may be on the verge of doing the same earlier next week.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jared Zwerling, veteran point guard Bobby Brown will workout for the team on Monday:

D'Angelo Russell Sinks Shot from 3-Quarter Court at Rookie Photo Shoot

Los Angeles Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell has range.

During the NBA rookie photo shoot Saturday, the lefty launched a bomb from the opposite foul line and the shot plopped right in.

Russell, ever the showman, barely even smirked. He’s already Hollywood.

But he wasn't done there. The 2015 No. 2 overall pick added a one-handed backward bomb from half court for good measure:

Kobe Bryant: Suiting Up For His Swan Song

It’s just after 11 p.m. on what couldn’t be more than an ordinary day. Kobe Bryant sits in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ locker room gently lacing up his signature shoes. Dressed in sweatpants and a Nike long sleeve T-shirt, Bryant walks into the weight room. Listening to nothing but silence, Bryant is alone, save for the camera crew. At this point, they’re invisible to him.

Leg presses, calf raises, weighted calf raises, Bryant mercilessly works his body at an hour where most are asleep or at home with their loved ones. Such was the life of rehabbing a torn Achilles.

Though this routine appears only once in his documentary Muse, it’s hard to imagine Bryant not doing this every night he could.

Lakers Expected To Workout 14 Players On Monday

The first game of the NBA preseason for the Los Angeles Lakers won’t take place until October 4 with the team set to face the Utah Jazz in Honolulu, Hawaii. Leading up to the first of two preseasons games against the Jazz in Hawaii, the team will bring in players to fill out the roster for training camp.

According to Sportando, the Lakers are expected to work out players on Monday:
