it seems this is a deep draft. This IMHO means FFRP will be attached to Russ

My prediction: the folks who are saying Westbrook won’t be traded are gonna end up being wrong as well.. it wouldn’t surprise me to see something go down today involving Westbrook

I'm with you IG...he's gone....but it wont be today...he will not be on the roster when the season begins.

If the Hornets are on the clock and are deciding what to do with Hayward and they have offers from the Pacers and Lakers.. just saying.. Westbrook opting in isn’t a big deal he has to either way

Can always agree in principal, worst thing can happen is we stuck with the draftee that Mitch picked but that means WB is traded somewhere else better

If Westbrook knew he was gonna get traded either way opting in today or June 29th doesn’t make a difference..

Either way, whether we draft someone at 35, or this is somehow considered enough to trade Russ (doubtful), it's a good thing for the Lakers.

He has 6 more days to (bleep) the Lakers
Charlotte has 7 days available that can put Russ on their roster
After July 1st their circumstances change, right?

Hopefully we draft a kid that Westbrook can take under his wings.

We better be getting someone really good if we are giving up a pick that can end up being a lottery pick depending on if we end up being bad in 2027

Russ is an asset, not a liability. We arent sending a FRP. If anything, we should get one depending on what we take back.

Not when you an equally onerous contract in Wall out there too. Russ's 47m expiring isn't unique.

I certainly do not want to attach a 1st to Russ to trade him. What's mind blowing to me is the report that Houston wants a 1st with Russ to trade for Wall. Russ for Wall is literally the most trash for trash trade there is, where you just hope one of them works better for each team...so why Houston things they are entitled for a 1st is unexplainable

Wizards:

2017 Lakers unprotected 1st
2018 Nets protected 1st
2019 Lakers unprotected 1st

Having Porzingis+Bamba as our two 5's that both can shoot 3s would be great!

IF Beal says he is walking would that make Wizards go ahead and take a huge expiring contract in Westbrook PLUS 3 1st rounders for Beal?

get additional 2nd rd picks from wizard and do it Rob!

I hope Lebron joins us in free agency.

Steph was never a liability on defense. That's a big myth. Who out there won't struggle against Lebron 1v1? Westbrook on the other hand is a massive liability.

Also, Kyrie didn't play because they wouldn't let him. He does have emotional issues though. He can't get past his own ego. I would still take him instead of Westbrook. Guy has all the offensive game.

Steph was and is their weak link on defense. Poole might actually be worst which is crazy to think. Curry is a liability against any aggressive guard. The Celtics were too shook to consistently punish him. He has showed really good improvement on defense, particularly help defense, but he gets targeted a lot. Kerr and the coaching staff don’t get enough credit for hiding Steph. Draymond too.

I think what he is trying to say is he can still get a max and enjoy it better winning, just saying.

Beal should demand that Russ be traded back for Kuz/KCP to restore their dynasty from 2021.

Right but they haven't so at this moment it's not an executable trade to begin with.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought you could have language in a trade where it essentially says "first pick available under the rules". In that scenario, Pelinka could execute a trade where the 1st went out as the '26 or '27, effectively at New Orleans' discretion. But the deal could be done now without yet knowing what New Orleans planned on doing.

As I read Larry's FAQ, you cannot do this. You can negotiate for a one-year deferral option (which is what New Orleans has), and you can negotiate for pick protection, but otherwise you must specify the year in which the pick conveys.

Happened to see an Emplay tweet on the subject today:

Quote:
I don't metnioned 2026 when I write on LA for B/R because it's too complex for a basic article. Lakers can technically trade 2026 w/2-years after language relative to the NOP obligation. I detail that logic in general here at @SportsBizClass https://www.sportsbusinessclassroom.com/how-teams-get-around-the-stepien-rule/

Do you think Myles re-signs with us?

I am as bad as IG when it comes to trades and what I think will happen. the 35th, because its apparently a deep draft gives me the impression that our FRP may be an easier pick to swallow in a trade and IMHO myles is the only real available difference maker unless Collins or Kyrie are available.

ESPN Sources: If Kyrie Irving can’t reach an agreement to stay with Brooklyn, he has a list of teams he’d like them to consider on sign-and-trades, including Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, Heat, Mavs and 76ers. None of those teams have cap space to sign him without Nets’ help.
