Just review some of the recent opinions on the Irving negotiations. Lakers are now considered incompetent by many posters because they reportedly won’t include every FRP they have. Even though most agree it is an overpay.
Let’s be honest, imagine the response if the Lakers would have said “no” to the Westbrook trade last year. Most commented it was a bad fit, but media and fans alike would have roasted the FO if they had not given James what he wanted.
So professionals should make decisions based on what internet randos feel? Really?
And yes, let's imagine if the Lakers had said no to Westbrook last season. People online would complain. And? The sport's media might write some negative articles about the Lakers--what else is new? These two things happen regardless of any move the Lakers do or do not make.
But here you propose the odd hypothesis that the Lakers are controlled and beholden to Lebron, but also controlled and beholden to random people posting their emotions online. Which brings me back to my original point: are we to assume that the people who own and/or who are paid to run the Lakers have no agency of their own and no responsibility for any decisions because...Lebron and random posters? This is nonsense of the highest order.
You know what comes with the job? Ignoring what random people have to say online, ignoring idiot sport's media, and doing what is best for the franchise, not one player (if those things align, great, but they don't always).

I don't know if I would be shocked, maybe like the feeling of eating cold brussel sprouts for breakfast. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions!

Opens up a whole other side of the court for him.
He’s actually a really good finisher, but everyone plays him to go right.
If he can finish left and add a floater he should have a good season.

I thought the complaint was about not using his left for layups. Are you saying he can't go left off the dribble? _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!!

Yeah it’s both. He’s not comfortable at all driving left and when he does he tries to finish with his right.

Always finishes with right hand. To the point of having to contort his body in dangerous ways.

This man would straight up punch his mother in the face before using his left hand for a layup and I love him
That’s a lot of flashes. At some point with reps it will slow down and he will speed up, and look out. Praying he can work on a consistent set 3, not just the step back he likes to try.

It will be interesting to see which direction he takes this season:
- catch & shoot 3's and defense. This will radically improve his off-the-ball game and make him into more of a 3&D, such players are the most valued in the NBA right now and it will enable him to play starter minutes with Lebron.
- left-hand finishing and mid-range. It will make him into a more efficient offensive player but won't substantially improve his fit with Lebron.
- no improvement. This would be a huge pity, he really needs to show something this year, for both the Lakers sake as well as his next contract.

And become our third star, actualized. But it takes work, and I hope he's doing that kind of work right now.
THT been doing the Lebron workout. Looks strong for 21 compared to some of the 2022 Draft players.
Reminding me of that Bynum body transformation which I believe is the last player we probably drafted at such a young age and kept?
Dude is still growing into his body and heavily developing which I don't think many here really realize just how young and green he was when drafted. Last year was kind of just a horrible situation for a young player looking to mature and still develop his game since he was basically told to just stand around the perimeter much of the time not to mention his lingering injuries. You seen in the pre-season and late in the regular Season especially when he was actually given some access to play his full game and get to the basket and hit a few easy ones he got that confidence going and turned into a monster at times. He also became much more active defensively when his offense got going and he still has the potential to become a very legitimate 2 way role player imo.
Also, i'm not a fan of him being around Russ at all as that's one of the worst people i'd want any of my young players to take advice from personally.
I get why some are upset since he's making big $$$ now but with the way last Season unfolded i'm all for giving him another Season before I make any major opinions on him. He def. needs to show some clear improvement throughout this next Season regardless but I fully believe he will.

On the plus side, THT is a good free through shooter. For me, if he make progress in a facet of his offensive game; a teardrop, 35% or better Corner three shot, etc. That is what I need to see to change my mind about his Bart Simpson mentality. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions!
