Still unable to cover the games.

Lakers should have targeted Luka a bit more in OT defensively but didn’t really pursue the foul trouble issue. LeBron three shooting was painful down the stretch. Also not sure why they didn’t take a foul up 3 in regulation.

Post your thoughts and post-game discussion here.

Lakers looked bad on both ends and somehow played 2 over times.

Don't know what I watched, don't ever want to watch it again. Onto the next one.

Bad roster and inexperience rookie coach has caused us a lot of games this year so far.

End of regulation was painful to watch... From not fouling, not doubling Luka, from Schro biting hard on a Luka fake drive step back 3. Bad recognition and execution on all phases there.

Dallas doesn't have a good half court offense, imo. The only reason it functions, is because of Luka, and just enough shooting around him. The Lakers are the same, when we're fully healthy. But, worse, when we're not. Which has been the case, recently, including this game.

Dallas was hot to start the game, which severely limited the Lakers fast break opportunities via defensive rebounds. This forced them to play at the Mavericks preferred pace. Thus, the big lead for Dallas in the first quarter. From the 2nd quarter on, the Lakers did what they've been doing. Srapping hard, and playing gutsy basketball. Ultimately, it came down to a combination of Dallas hitting timely shots, getting timely defensive stops, and LeBron having one of those cold shooting games. Too much for the shorthanded Lakers to overcome, leading to a loss in 2OT.

There were some bad (non) calls, but the Lakers only have themselves to blame.

They shot a bad percentage from the field while playing at the Mavs' slow-ass pace, they missed key free throws, their defensive rotations off passes from Luka were poor at times and LeBron played like he was in slow motion.

Lakers "tried" to double-team him but Luka was calling a screen to switch

That they could have denied the ball to Luka more would have been wise, especiall on Luka's last minute 3pt shots where they went one-on-one

Stan Van Gundy aske the same questions!

Schroeder had a bad shooting night, hence Mavs were packing the paint

Bryant was 5-10 shooting but couldn't find a way to get him the ball

38 years old LBJ must have been tired to go for 3pt shots that he has been missing instead of driving the paint to force the refs to make the play. Of course, Woods had blocked LBJ and Westbrook right at the basket - along with missed layups.

Maybe Walker/Reeves could have provided more firepower, in lieu of AD's absence.

Westbrook actually played some D on Luka - amazing.

Understand that they have to keep changing defensive schemes against Luka, something that these Lakers don't know how to do yet

Can’t believe what’s happened to Lebron’s 3 ball this year. That’s killing the team when he slows it down.

We've lost way too many of these types of games, where we were / are either up big, or even just up a moderate / small amount at the end of the game (i.e. 2 or 3 points with a few seconds left), and we let the other team back, and win. This team needs to learn how to execute late in the game. This season is pretty much in the garbage bin already, I just hope coaches/players can build something for the next few years.

It was stated in the media

-

Crew chief Josh Tiven, speaking to a pool reporter after the game, defended the no-call.

"Hardaway Jr. gets a piece of the ball on the closeout and then does make some high-five contact, which is legal and that play was correctly no-called," Tiven said.

Brown was asked about the no-call in the postgame locker room and offered a diplomatic response.

"It is what it is," Brown said. "That's not my job to ref, and I'm not gonna sit here and decide who should have did what."

When a reporter followed up to inform Brown of Tiven's explanation, James -- seated in front of his locker on the other side of the room -- chimed in from 20 feet away.

"No, it's a f---ing foul," James said strongly for everyone in the room to hear. "It's a foul. No matter what [Brown] says, it's a f---ing foul. That s--- is blatant, and they should have called it."

Fifteen minutes later, in his postgame news conference down the hall, James was more reserved in his answer. When asked if he disagreed with the referees' decision, he simply said, "Obviously."

NBA ref report says LBJ was fouled by Woods on that drive to the basket. FML.

Mavs let the Lakers back in the game

Sir Charles said that he would have automatically fouled Luka

Stan Van Gundy wondered why they didn't double-teamed Luke forcing somebody else make the shot

Is it better to have LBR handle the ball at the top of the key or have Westbrook get the ball to inbound to LBJ in the paint?

Would Schroeder or Bryant in the paint been a better option

Imagine if Reeves or LW4 were available for the game

Imagine if the refs had made the correct calls
