Yeah, I don't think we'll re-sign Urias, nor should we. I think his stuff isn't elite. I think he'll lose velocity soon, and I think he's going to command a ton of money.

- Betts has been unclutch as a Dodger. For an elite hitter, he takes some really bad ABs.

- Outman already having a better AB than Bellinger.

- Vargas has outstanding patience at the plate

That would be a dream. Rookie Bellinger was a beast who lead us to the WS. Dude totally turned our season around after we called him up.

Yep the good times.

It would be great if Outman can be like rookie Belli but I'll take better than recent Belli.

Wow, Peralta got a hit vs. a lefty. It's a miracle.

He literally hits lefties like a pitcher:

Cheapest seat for the Yankees game in June is $70. Any decent seats are well over $100. I really wanted to go but just a bit too much money for me.

6 innings, no runs and 10K. Like clockwork, the Angels lose the lead once he's off the mound.

Come to LA.

Wouldn't worry too much about Julio's velocity early in the season. It was down considerably last year at the start of the season, remember. No reason for alarm, at least, not at this point.

I will have you all know that with my last Any Pitcher selection in my NL-only league this afternoon, for $1, I got Gavin Stone. It was right near the end of the auction, and everyone left was down to $1 players so nobody could bid. This is a keeper league where you can only remove a player from your roster if they go to the IL, and all player slots count towards your team stats. (So, no bench spots.) I could be getting nothing from Stone's slot for a while, but believe in the kid enough to where I thought it prudent to add him, particularly since I'll be able to retain him next year for $3. Then $5 the year after that. Then $8. You get the idea. Hoping this is the first year of a long-term deal for him on my squad!

Heck, if Pepiot is out long enough and if Grove gets hit around for 2-3 starts, maybe they'll even call him up before the end of the month. If there were no service time concerns, he'd already be in the rotation.

Yeah, the thing with Stone & Miller is, they're not on the 40 man roster yet. So, once we bring them up, we have to put them on the 40 man roster and kick someone off (or put someone on the IL). Here's the current 40 man:

Quote:
Active Roster:
1) Yency Almonte
2) Phil Bickford (5.5)

3) Caleb Ferguson
4) Brusdar Graterol
5) Michael Grove
6) Andre Jackson
7) Clayton Kershaw
8) Dustin May
9) Shelby Miller
10) Evan Phillips
11) Noah Syndergaard
12) Julio Urías
13) Alex Vesia

14) Austin Barnes
15) Will Smith
16) Freddie Freeman
17) Max Muncy
18) Miguel Rojas
19) Miguel Vargas
20) Mookie Betts
21) Jason Heyward (-0.6)
22) J.D. Martinez
23) James Outman
24) David Peralta
25) Chris Taylor
26) Trayce Thompson

Optioned to the Minors:
27) Justin Bruihl (0.7)
28) Victor González (0.6)
29) Yonny Hernandez (0.1)

30) Diego Cartaya (#1 prospect)
31) Michael Busch (#4 prospect)
32) Andy Pages (#7 prospect)
33) Eddys Leonard (#18 prospect)
34) Jorbit Vivas (#19 prospect)
35) Jonny DeLuca (#22 prospect)

Short term IL (expected back):
36) Tony Gonsolin
37) Daniel Hudson
38) Jimmy Nelson (0.3)
39) Ryan Pepiot
40) Alex Reyes

Long term IL (not expected back):
41) Blake Treinen (-8)
42) Walker Buehler
43) J.P. Feyereisen
44) Gavin Lux

Yeah, with the short term IL's expected back at some point, we have 40 players.

If we count Treinen who might come back, that's 41.

The ones in red (w/ trade values) are the ones who we might release (or trade) to make room when we bring up Stone or Miller:

Quote:
1) Bickford (5.5)
2) Bruihl (0.7)
3) Victor González (0.6)
4) Jimmy Nelson (0.3)

5) Hernandez (0.1)
6) Heyward (-0.6)

* Bickford - looks like he still has trade value, so we'll probably trade him if we need the room.

* Bruihl - is probably safe, due to being a lefty.

* Victor Gonzalez - is an interesting case. Haven't heard from him since 2020, so I don't know how we feel about him.

* Jimmy Nelson - I think we'll give Nelson another shot on the active roster before we release him.

* Yonny Hernandez - I think we'll keep Hernandez (for depth) in case Rojas gets injured.

* Jason Heyward - He's hard to guage. He could be short term if Outman continues to play well. But then, he could be a cheap insurance alternative so we might just keep him all year. I guess it all depends on how well they all play (Outman, Thompson, and Heyward). At some point, one of them has to go, and I don't think it's Outman.

So my prediction is, we're going to try to hold off bringing up Stone & Miller for awhile until all the above scenarios play out. I think we'll let it play out for 2 months and then we'll have a better idea on who we want to remove from the 40 man. I think for sure, we'll wait until: Gonsolin, Hudson, Nelson, and Pepiot come off the IL first.

But for sure at some point this season, Stone and Miller are coming up. I think Stone's going to be on the playoff roster as a reliever. I think Busch is coming up too, but he's already on the 40 man.

------------------------------

Here's another question:

All the short term IL's are pitchers. Only one of them have minor league options left: Pepiot. Who is taken off the active roster to make room for these pitchers coming off the IL?

Quote:
Starters:
36) Tony Gonsolin
37) Ryan Pepiot (2 options left)

Relievers:
38) Daniel Hudson
39) Jimmy Nelson
40) Alex Reyes

Let's take a look at the 13 pitchers on the active roster and who still has options left:

(information obtained from TrueBlueLA: https://www.truebluela.com/2022/11/6/23411900/dodgers-40-man-roster-offseason-start-2022)

Hopefully, it's accurate

Quote:
Starters:
1) Clayton Kershaw
2) Dustin May
3) Noah Syndergaard
4) Julio Urías
5) Michael Grove (2 left)

Relievers:
6) Evan Phillips
7) Alex Vesia

8) Phil Bickford (0 left)
9) Yency Almonte (0 left)
10) Shelby Miller (0 left)

11) Caleb Ferguson (2 left)
12) Brusdar Graterol (2 left)
13) Andre Jackson (1 left)

Well, Gonsolin is pretty easy. Once he comes back, I think we'll send down 3 pitchers: Pepiot, Jackson, and Grove.

But as far as Hudson, Nelson, and Reyes, I don't know who's going to get sent down / released / traded. For sure Bickford is one.
