It pretty much is a must win. The first team that wins two games in a row wins the overwhelming majority of series.

The first game was there for the taking.

If I'm the coach I'm telling them, that even in the altitude, we won the last three quarters... so it's good news we came back on them.

Some missed free throws, a few careless turnovers... that one scramble for a loose ball where we just couldn't get the ball towards the end... all proved costly.

I said if all the guards played well we'd win. If two played well, we had a chance... only Reaves showed up and that's not enough against this team.

Frustrated because we should have won, but hopeful because we won the last three quarters in the altitude with most of our guards playing like sh*t

Last 2. They won the second quarter.

My worry was that we would play them even and then get winded from the altitude.

Maybe the fatigue played a part in LBJ's missed free throws and turnover... maybe it's why we didn't win that loose ball scramble.

But we were down by twenty in the first if I recall correctly... and then slowly grinded back within three.

Jokic had 17 boards in the first half and only 4 in the second. I legit thought he was going to get 40 rebounds like Wilt

So improvement in the altitude is my takeaway.

The guards gotta score. AD and Bron did their part... Rui got some bench points... but we can't have one guard showing up and expect to win.

It was a typical playoff game one win by the home team Nuggets.

They took care of their business. Lakers showed some fight to get back but going down 20 pts was just too much to overcome against a good team.

Lakers have some positives to build on. But they need to be more consistent with their energy and matchups. Lakers simply can’t settle or have the lapses on both ends they have had all season.

Beating the Nuggets will take an inspired overall team effort. Nuggets have shown what they are capable of doing. They made their statement that they are not the same old Nuggets.

Now the Lakers need to respond. Show us what they are capable of doing and who they are.

On to game 2. Go Lakers!

I am predicting another high scoring contest with the nuggets pulling away late.

Denver - 119
LAL - 110

Don't see how anyone on our team can stop Murray/Jokic

Denver got 9 offensive rebounds on their first 11 missed shots. If the Lakers can shift the rebound stats back in their favor, they should win. That was the stat of the game for me.

Don’t like the “Lakers found something in the 2nd half” talk. Like ok we learned some things but Denver also has the video too. They will adjust as well.

Whatever it takes, just get the split.

Ham plays Vandy/Rui more and avoids small ball I think we can take this.

The challenge will then be holding home court, but let's get this one first!

Yea I just posted in another thread that if you didn’t know outcome you would think the nuggets lost.

same for me. that was the game. It was promising that we still had a chance to steal it but can't allow those 2nd, 3rd, 4th opportunities.

Is an absolute must that Rui starts the rest of this series.... now do you guys think the Lakers should roll an even bigger lineup at times? Meaning... having both DLO, Schroeder come off the bench, have Vando in to be on Murray like a blanket defensively

Same as Bane hitting a buzz beater to beat us in game 6? How did that work out?

Yeah that hurt them big time in addition to the poor rebounding. I was surprised to see Denver running that much for a team that usually plays at a slow pace
