We need an outlets that speak to the majority (independent) giving us honest feedback on what’s happening.

On the list of issues our country is facing.

Getting "the whole story" by factoring in right wing garbage is pretty low on my list.

These posts are coming off a little too "both sides-y" for my personal taste. And it's this kind of thinking that has our country's Overton window too far right compared to countries higher up in terms of quality of life. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/rankings/quality-of-life

Exactly. Halflife’s falls into the intellectual fallacy that “both sides are the same” and that they carry equal weight and credibility. Engaging right wing lies and conspiracies is not “getting the whole story”. It’s elevating falsities to the level of truth. The only that matters to the story is the facts. Including falsities into the story is not being objective, it’s being a party to allowing the real story to be manipulated.

stop. No one said both sides are the same.

We all know you have said as much both directly and indirectly multiple times here.

"we all know". Lol. No, I haven't.

Although we may disagree on various matters, it doesn't necessarily prove that either one of our points of view is right. In fact, we all concur that individuals who only subscribe to a single perspective and reject the application of critical thinking pose a significant problem, irrespective of their political alignment or preferred message board.

I definitely agree that critical thinking is a crucial skill, but I do feel I should point out to you that intellectual dishonesty doesn't equate to critical thinking. So yes, it does pose a significant problem when people do things like ignore all of the societal and logistical factors in an issue like homelessness in order to blame it all on an elected official they have personal contempt for. Or, when someone dismisses the obvious inherent dangers involved with platforming hate speech under the guise of supporting "free speech" . . .

Ron DeSatan tried to officially announce he was running for president today on some sort of a call on Twitter with chief twit Elon Musk, but lots went wrong with the call.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ron-desantis-elon-musk-twitter_n_646e8e12e4b0a7554f3c95d4

Quote:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis officially unveiled his long-awaited Republican bid for the presidency on Wednesday in a bungled announcement on Twitter that was plagued by glitches and saw hundreds of thousands of viewers booted from the event.

Elon Musk, Twitter’s owner and former CEO, had teased the announcement for days, but things quickly went awry as audio feeds cut out and Twitter staff could be heard cutting in to try and fix the situation. At one point, more than 500,000 people seemed to be tuned in to the Twitter Spaces event before it suddenly went offline. Musk was able to launch a new online venue, but only about half of the original viewers were able to join.

These conservatives keep finding new ways to embarrass themselves.

Also, isn't it weird that the "announcement" was just an audio call with no video and definitely nothing in person?

It doesn't really matter in the long run what any of Trump's opponents do as long as Trump is alive and breathing. Indictments, trials, and other potential scandals won't change the dynamics of the race. If he's there in 2024, he will be the nominee. Some of them are running to be Trump's VP (Scott, Haley), others are hoping he's either ill or not among the living next year (mainly DeSantis).

If Democrats would just be half as mean and ugly as Republicans we could start winning.

Republicans are actual real life terrorists.. fighting drag queens and abortions while destroying the financial future of our Democracy

DeStain is stealing billions and billions from Florida retirement investments not because of his policies but because he gave the reins over to "friends".
Damage to one of the 50 States is damage to all of them and we ALL will have to pay
financially when he and others force the Federal Government to declare the next FEMA Billion Dollar Aid package after Hurricane Season kicks in

The Whole Republican party and its followers were searching the Internet for pictures of Biden's sons phallus while yelling at us about morals and trying to Christianize our nation.. just terrorists.. pure and simple

Accountability? They have no morals
Look at how we treated Al Franken? Look at how they treat Clarence Thomas
Should we get some Sexual Abuse allegations against Clarence

You are either a registered Democrat or a registered Terrorist supporter - I personally so distrust Republicans I am afraid to put Democrat in the Registration database. I am not lying.
I was in little Loveland, CO the night Obama was elected. Right after the results were finalized two giant 4x4 Trucks with young men in the back of each roll through shouting (bleep) and waving confederate flags..
and the Insurrection and frightening unhinged unconscious Trump supporters has made afraid of all of them

Which party was dumb enough to be manipulated to physically attack the Federal Government and beat bloody federal police?
If Timothy McVeigh would have been free Trump might have used him eh? Doubt that guy was a Democrat?

FWIW - If Hillary was elected the war in Ukraine would not have happened!
How much has that war cost Humanity and the USA? - Republicans are responsible for it.

Indeed. Trump is the leader of their cult. You can't just replace the leader of a cult. Besides, DeSatan has been accused of lacking people skills. He's that stereotypical stiff, uptight and overly professional conservative. Trump, on the other hand, is considered charming and attractive by his cult followers.

After dropping atomic bombs on Japan USA forced Hirohito to tell the people to welcome us iirc
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirohito_surrender_broadcast

Maybe Jack Smith and Garland make a deal to force Trump to drop politics or face real prosecution
Maybe we send him to Siberia
I still think we should carpet bomb Mar a Lago and lock him up until he dies.

And if they help get past the default they are planning to force 3.5 trillion in tax cuts for the already wealthy

The next recession is guaranteed to draw blood

Billionaires watching children starve and suffer so they can have a 2nd yacht or 10th home
America is bad for evolution. Billionaires really shouldn't be allowed to exist yet we have a political party that prays for their chance to help a billionaire rather than the needy

If you have student loan debt, you should know this:

Every single House Republican just voted to overturn President Biden’s student debt forgiveness plan AND retroactively charge you interest on your paused payments.

It's pretty remarkable how much Republicans hate young people. Stuff like this is so short-sided. It's dooming the GOP's future. And I'm okay with that.

the GOP have a habit of still getting those they dump on to vote for them.

If women take their rights serious and young people want a manageable future they would vote them out of office. Those 2 demos alone could do it.

Unfortunately, we are in a space where trump or Desantis could be our next pres.

When the party that put you in power are terrorists then the judges are too

https://www.npr.org/2023/05/25/1178150234/supreme-court-epa-clean-water-act
Supreme Court going full on terrorist mode against the Federal Government and our planet

The U.S. Supreme Court Court on Thursday significantly curtailed the power of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate the nation's wetlands and waterways. It was the court's second decision in a year limiting the ability of the agency to enact anti-pollution regulations and combat climate change.

Quote:
The challenge to the regulations was brought by Michael and Chantell Sackett, who bought property to build their dream house about 500 feet away from Idaho's Scenic Priest Lake, a 19-mile stretch of clear water that is fed by mountain streams and bordered by state and national parkland. Three days after the Sacketts started excavating their property, the EPA stopped work on the project because the couple had failed to get a permit for disturbing the wetlands on their land.

Now a conservative Supreme Court majority has used the Sacketts' case to roll back longstanding rules adopted to carry out the 51-year-old Clean Water Act.

While the nine justices agreed that the Sacketts should prevail, they divided 5-to-4 as to how far to go in limiting the EPA's authority.

If the Sackett family or anyone associated with them paid the justices then put them and the justices in jail

After we now know Clarence Thomas is owned by a white man and doesn't recuse himself from cases involving his business interests.. maybe?? Just maybe all the Republican justices are paid

Yep - I saw this yesterday.

Quote:
While all nine justices agreed that the case should be overturned, they differed as to what the standard should be for protecting wetlands moving forward.

In two separate concurring opinions, one from conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh and another authored by liberal justice Elena Kagan, who was joined by Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson, the four argued that protected waters should also include those that are separated from protected water by something like a man-made barrier.

Mark Ryan, a former Clean Water Act litigation specialist at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), told The Hill that the ruling could result in some of the nation’s wetlands being filled out of existence.

Of course Alito authored the 5-4 majority opinion. The guy is determined to destroy every bit of authority the government has before he's gone.

I agree 100%. I've been skeptical when people say the younger generations will be the demise of the GOP.

But a party choosing to enslave 10s of millions of people to a lifelong debt they'll never be able to repay. I think that's enough of a tipping point. We'll see.

Just another example of GOP hypocrisy. The party that rails against "cancel culture" gets another thing canceled:

TARGET PRIDE COLLECTION
BRAND SAYS ITEMS YANKED FROM STORES
... 'Due To Threats From Domestic Terrorists'

Purchased liquor for my girlfriend last night and remembered the bud light controversy and almost couldn't keep myself from laughing out loud in front of the beer case...

I apologize for not knowing but when I looked at my calendar this morning I saw next month is
LGBTQ+ Pride Month
Quote:

From the Library of Congress:
https://www.census.gov/newsroom/stories/lgbt-pride-month.html#:~:text=From%20the%20Library%20of%20Congress,1969%20Stonewall%20Uprising%20in%20Manhattan.
“Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan

^This made me concerned for our fellow citizens. Will @RepublicanInspiredterroristattacks occur more during this month than others?
