If it is between the Lakers and Heat, the hold up is probably Dame trade and how much $ the Heat would be able to give Wood.
He’s all about the $. |

Dame situation may take a while. Might not be in Wood's interest to sit out too long, especially if this drags out through training camp. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Why not? If Miami gives more than the vet min, waiting is good.
If it's the same vet min as the Lakers maybe he gets more playing time in Miami than L.A.
Seems ok to wait. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |

Funny how excited people are here about this guy.
He’s 27 and has already been on 7 teams. Perhaps a sign that he’s not very good? Not sure he’s got a great track record. |

Not a very good defender or team player. Both Houston and Dallas needed bigs and let him go. There is a reason for that. _________________ Darvin Ham is an idiot! |

Main difference is Houston paid him a 3yr/$41M deal to get him. Dallas traded a 1st and 4 players for him. We are only investing a vet min. If he’s any kind of trouble or doesn’t work out he can be traded or waived. It’s pretty low risk and there’s not another great option out there. Expectations should definitely be tempered though. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Wood for the minimum is like a better version of Thomas Bryant for us from last season. _________________ Tacos |

For the minimum, no brainer to me. He's not a "center," but he does bring stretch big qualities alongside AD on offense. AD/LBJ will miss 20-25+ games each. Having Wood to fill in during those times on offense may be a big plus for the team.
But defensively, don't even get me started on him. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Buha’s article: https://t.co/p5QPeZCyAU
Quote: | Christian Wood and Bismack Biyombo are in consideration for that 14th roster spot, according to team sources not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
The Lakers had interest in Dario Saric before he signed with the Golden State Warriors earlier this week, those sources said. Pelinka clarified that Los Angeles is hoping to find a player that is different than Hayes from a skill-set perspective.
|
Sounds like Lakers could've gotten Saric.
Based on Rob’s quotes, Lakers preference was probably: 1) Wood, 2) Saric, 3) Biyombo. _________________ Tacos |

The main pro is that he and Hayes would make a fine enough big combo, if AD were to miss games. We wouldn’t have to play someone that’s totally cooked at 80% of things 18-24 mins, like a Boogie or McGee
Obviously the con is defense, but you’re going to get guys with warts, when you’re looking for min contract guys
I’d prefer Biyombo, but Wood would be okay, too _________________ #18 next... |

Wood's offensive upside IMO outweighs Biiyomo's defensive advantage. I mean, BB is far from some defensive anchor and will still get pushed around by Jokic and while Woods is even worse, how he can transform the offense and open up room for AD to operate in the paint is huge. |

Bingo. We need more offensive firepower when LeBron/AD misses their annual 20+ games.
Hope to find that post defender at the deadline or buyout market with the 15th spot. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

A long, long time ago, there was this C/PF who had a great jumpshot and a piss poor reputation, having played his way off of the Braves, Knicks, Celtics, Pistons & Nets. The Lakers picked him up for a song after Mitch Kupchak got hurt and the C/PF - Bob McAdoo - was a key piece on 2 World Championship teams (4 straight Finals) and made the Hall of Fame. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

Of the options out there, Wood seems like the best, but he's not exactly appealing since he's undersized and doesn't play defense.
I'd say sign him to maybe a non-guaranteed contract and see how it goes. It looks like we'll have to look to a midseason trade in order to get that rotational center we need to win it all this coming season.
Oh well. The Lakers did that in 1987 with Mychal Thompson and in '82 with Bob McAdoo, as Dr. Laker pointed out above. Maybe we can do just fine for a few months with Wood and Hayes at the 5 until we get someone better. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Yup. If all he's getting is vet minimum offers, there isn't any downside to waiting. He can always get that deal. With training camps still months away, he doesn't need to be in a hurry. |

That would certainly explain the delay as to why Wood still hasn't signed with anyone. |

Like I said, he's not exactly appealing, partly because he's an undersized C. But so is Biyombo, and one of them would be better than none of them. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

He's less of a negative on D than Bismack is a negative on O so I'm on board with him. He was actually a significant positive on D per RAPTOR 3 and 4 seasons ago and may especially motivated this year to rediscover that. He's the clear choice if we have one. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

Well, 2020 had a lot of weird characters as well. Dwight Howard being the prime example, JaVale McGee being a knucklehead himself, Markieff Morris wasn’t without baggage, KCP playing while literally being in prison, etc.
If their is any place, any team to rebuild your image, it would be the Lakers. And if you can’t, then you never will. _________________ Lakers Offseason Goal:
- Draft Edey or Ware (Another guard)
- Sign Jonas or Claxton (NOBODY)
- sign and trade DLO (nobody wants him LMAO!)
- sign a coach that’s not an idiot (JJ: LeBron Bestie/might be a racist)
Call it an offseason (ROFL) |

im not sure how anyone can argue with a straight face this Wood at the minimum is not worth it.
I'd be very disappointed in anyone who would take McGee over him at the minimum. stop it. |

You think Wood would sign with a team that offered him a non-guaranteed contract at the veteran's minimum? |
