I talked mad sh*t about Dennis when I was irritated at his demand for a big contract during his first go round, but he earned my respect playing hard for peanuts the past few years.
Good luck Dennis... maybe one day you will return again.
I feel like Dennis did last season, what Dwight did in 2020. Minus the championship, of course. But after Dwight left the first time, he was really hated by Lakers fans. Dennis had a similar feeling, because fans felt he made unrealistic contract demands, and that led to the Westbrook disaster.
In both cases, their time away was not kind to them. Dwight had bounced around from team to team, and his last team traded for him as a salary dump just to cut him. He had pretty much played himself out of the league.
Dennis meanwhile turned down a large offer to sign a tiny one. Then got jetissoned from the Celtics mid-season, didn't play particularly well in Houston after that trade. Wound up signing back in L.A. for the league minimum.
In both cases, they came in and redeemed themselves. Dwight was a better teammate than he had been on previous stops, and accepted a reduced bench role. He was crucial to them in the Nuggets series en route for a championship, and that kept him in the league for a couple more seasons.
Dennis got a decent new contract based on last years performance. He accepted a reduced role, but he was an important player in the Lakers run last year. That restored his value.
They also both went from players hated by a large portion of the fanbase, into fan favorites in their return. I wish them nothing but the best.
Great that Dennis got Major Cheddar from Toronto who needed a PG when VanVleet left for Houston.
Hard to pay $13M for a PG that is not the starting PG, though he wasn an invaluable piece to the Lakers last year. With 6'1" DS replacing 6"0" VanVleet, Toronoto will have the employ defensive schemes where their lack of height won't be always taken advantaged of
DS will have a chance to be in the starting lineup away from the constant glare and scrutiny of LaLaLand. Hopefully his offensive woes in clutch games (his defensive prowess was always there) will not be as big an issue in Toronto and Eastern Conference
Dennis made $77M in career earnings before his $25,430,250 he will make in next contract. He cannot refuse this contract and the Lakers couldn't afford him - good for all sides.
As I watched a lot of FIBA games the NBA guys at team GER made the diference for them. Even Bonga played fantastic games with intensive defense.
Daniel Theis was ultra competitive and Franz Wagner is a superstar talent
Title is very well deserved for the team and Dennis

He was a leader out there and played with heart. He deserved this and I think played himself into the greatest European players ever stratosphere _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

Nothing but love and respect for Dennis the menace.
He's tuff as it gets. We'll definitely miss his blazing dribble penetration,
stellar POA defense against speedy pgs, hustle, clutch ft shooting, but most
of all, we will his heart and grit more than anything. Even playing through
multiple injuries and what not, he was a true warrior for us.
So happy that DS is getting the respect he deserves from all around the world.

Pretty crazy to think a bench player was the best player on a world championship team. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
