The promised Kobe Bryant statue outside LA’s Crypto.com Arena will incorporate his daughter Gigi and – in a nod to his jersey numbers, 8 and 24 – will be unveiled by the Lakers on August 8, 2024, an inside source has told DailyMail.com. Lakers owner Jeanie Buss previously revealed plans to erect a statue for Bryant after he, his 13-year-old daughter, Gigi, six friends and a pilot died in a helicopter crash in January of 2020.
The source tells DailyMail.com that Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, is involved with the plans, but cautioned that an artist for the piece has not yet been chosen. Team spokespeople did not immediately respond to Mail Sport’s request for confirmation. Lakers fans have grown impatient for a memorial in Bryant’s honor, although many have speculated that the team would wait until 2024 to unveil the statue. – via Russ Weakland, Alex Raskin Sports @ Daily Mail
FYI, this is Jeanie’s latest comments with Mark Medina on the matter.

Is there any update on when Kobe’s statue will be constructed and unveiled, or too premature?
It’s too premature. It’s not for public consumption yet. Rest assured, there will be an announcement when the time is right.

08/08/2024
couldn't thought of any better date. (08/24/2024 would be ok too)
Arash Markazi @ArashMarkazi
The Kobe & Gigi statue unveiling on 8/8/24 report is not true according to multiple people at the Lakers and AEG. Kobe is getting a statue one day. We all know that. There has been talk about including Gigi but a statue hasn’t been commissioned and a date has not been set yet. pic.twitter.com/l4zboVAM5U

Proof an individual can make a Huge Impact
There were other greats but media and digital life couldn't follow them the way we were able to follow Kobe
I can't stop telling people, like the "I walked 5 miles in the snow to school each way when I was a kid" --- Kobe received VHS tapes in the mail from Grandparents USA>Italy and he wore them out shadow practicing without a rim.
As a 22-year-old in the 2001 Playoffs,
Kobe Bryant averaged 29.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 6.1 APG, and 1.6 SPG as the Lakers went 15-1 and captured their second of three consecutive titles.
They swept the 50-win Blazers, the 55-win Kings (Kobe averaged 35-9-4), and the 58-win Spurs (33-7-7) before defeating the 56-win Sixers 4-1 in the Finals behind 35-16-5 averages from series MVP Shaq.
“I thought of doing this t-shirt eventually, if I get the chance to win the tournament, about seven days ago,” he said during the trophy ceremony on Sunday. “I didn’t share it with anyone until a few days ago when I asked my people to help me out to make this shirt. Kobe was a close friend, we chatted a lot about the winner’s mentality. When I was struggling with injury and trying to make my comeback, work my way back to the top of the game, he was one of the people I relied on the most. He was always there for any kind of council, advice, any kind of support in the most friendly way.”

That championship run went through four of the 24(!) fifty-plus-win squads Kobe’s teams would eliminate over the course of his career.
That 2001 playoff run is still to this day one of the most glorious runs I've had the pleasure of witnessing as a lifelong Lakers fan. And I've witnessed A LOT of glorious Laker playoff runs in my almost 50 years.
I miss Bean. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe.
