I really like this series so far. It's not up to par with The Mandalorian but it is a lot better than Obi-Wan Kenobi. |
I am, but I'm not a die hard Star Wars fan. So for someone that has never watched the animated series Rebels or Clone Wars, the storylines seem super convoluted to me. I think to fully appreciate this series, you have to watch those animated series first to understand the characters and mythology. Whereas the Mandalorian didn't require that prerequisite viewing since Din Djarin and Grogu were brand new characters that had never been seen before.
My favorite Star Wars Disney+ series has been Andor actually. This was a surprise for me because I didn't care for Rogue One at all. Maybe I would have if I understood the Andor character more if this show came out first. But I think I liked Andor because the characters have no relation to Jedis, The Force, or the Skywalker family at all. No one has any special powers so they can't rely on that to make the story interesting. It relies purely on character development and writing. That was refreshing.
I like the Mandalorian too, but the last season was very uneven for me. At times it was pretty bad. Obi-Wan series was very forgettable.
First season of Mandalorian and Andor are the best IMO.

I agree with you 100%. If you didn't watch the animated series then I can see why this series wouldn't be too good. Fortunately I did watch all of the animated series so thats why I am enjoying the series. I'm not a die hard Star Wars fan but a decent fan. LOL.
I completely forgot about Andor. Thanks for reminding me. Found my next binge series when I have some free time.
As for Madalorian, the first season was the best.

Andor is fantastic, but it is definitely slower than other Star Wars stuff. It's the most mature SW property in that the story is more drama/sci-fi and less action/sci-fi. But for me, that made the moments hit harder because you are more invested in the characters and what happens to them.
It's still hard for me to believe it's the same writer as Rogue One because I didn't care about any of the characters in that movie at all. |

Thanks for the tip. I know what to expect when I start watching it. I actually enjoy good drama. Since it's a series made for streaming, I don't expect too much action compared to the movies. |

What Dave Filoni is doing with Ahsoka is special. He's going to turn this Mandolorian/Ahsoka universe into the next Marvel Cinematic Universe Endgame/Game of Thrones.
That's why episode 5 of Ahsoka was screened in select theaters. People who watched the animated series Star Wars Rebels and/or read the Thrawn Trilogy books are already seeing what's happening. But these live action shows are going to pull everyone else there. And in some ways it is better to be ignorant of the prerequisites. Makes the journey there exciting in a different way.
We are traveling galaxies now. Something only really covered in the books.
I'm pretty sure this is all leading to the Grysk. And it's gonna be all hands on deck to deal with it. Including Luke.

Wish it was playing in my area. Those Clone Wars scenes alone would have been worth it to see them on the big screen. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Couldn't watch the final episode. I'm a sucker for rooting for anti-heroes. And even though they are horrible people morally, I don't want to see them get their comeuppance. _________________ When the world grows. Grow with it. |

Does it remind you of the wire (blasphemy, I Know)? _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“ |

Yes and the earlier summerhouse seasons are even more similar. Obviously isn’t in the same realm but they use the same ideas as The Wire. Also the show is very very authentic to the London drug game.
All in all it is an extremely impressive show. One of the best crime/drug shows to come out in recent memory IMO. |

I'm still trying to label innit. The only thing I've found is it's slang for, isn't it. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Finally started watching the critically acclaimed The Bear. I stopped after a few episodes because I don't want it to be over. So damn good. Funny, intense. Love it. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

I started Watching SUITS. Im up to season 2. I see the formula developing, that they repeat each episode or cycle every few episodes, but the characters are good, the acting is decent, and the pace is good. I think I will be able to stick with it til the end over the next couple months. |

The wife started again as our throw-on. It’s always playing in the background. I got up to s5 last time until I couldn’t bear it.
We are up to 8 now. I don’t follow along closely but sometimes I get into it. Love Louis Litt.
The one liners are so bad I love them.
Apparently they say “gdamn” 549 times in the whole show.

Finished Top Boy. I watched it with English subtitles. The terminology is broken English. Terms like wagwan is a greeting for what's going on. Say no more means, I understand. Bell me means, call me. Food means drugs. There are many more terms I had to google to get a meaning. The outcome was partially expected. 1 to 10 scale I give it 7.5. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I watch it with subs too. I love the British slang.
Have to stay educated. Don't want to be a "wasteman". While I'm making my "P"s. "Swear down" "bruv".
Did you watch every season? 5 in total. On Netflix it is Top Boy: Summerhouse (2 seasons). Than Top Boy (3 seasons).
I give it an 8.5. _________________ When the world grows. Grow with it. |

Yep. Watch Summerhouse and Top Boy. Took me a minute to figure out what was going on to make 5 seasons. Glad Jaq made it. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Ya she was my favorite. Close 2nd is Sully.
I'm the type of guy who loves rooting for anti-heroes too. And despite all the crap Dushane and Sully did. I empathized and rooted for them from start to finish.
What did you think of Jamie? My coworker was upset with how things ended up for him. _________________ When the world grows. Grow with it. |

In the drug world territory is motive to kill. Jamie went behind Sully and Dushane's backs to make a deal with Juan. Loyalty is important. That's why I was surprised Jaq was allowed to live.
Sully's death begs the question, "Who Dunnit?" Was it Seth? Did he change his mind? Was it Jaq to assure the safety of her family? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Very true. I think my coworker just had a soft spot for Jamie since he was raising his brothers.
Maybe they'll do a spinoff that tells us who got Sully. _________________ When the world grows. Grow with it. |
