Watching this series, it's easy to think the Lakers should just move on from Beasley and Bamba, but I would disagree.

You get a whole offseason to integrate the two into your offense and defense more and rehabilitate their value, in case of trade opportunities.

It's also much easier to see Bamba being more effective during a regular season where teams can't be hyper-focused on a single matchup.

I would LOVE to see what the current entire team could do, if they get to play together from Training camp onward.!

You are correct this is a great team, capable of winning it all...!

Sadly the weakest link is the COACH...!

We aren't but we might not have a choice but to hope for it. It may come down to Dennis vs. Troy and Ham seems to rely on Dennis more.

Me either…Mo should be though…but that would also probably mean that Ham isn’t included as coach, which would be ok.

Here’s the 8:
AD Mo
LBJ Rui
Vando
Reaves
Dlo Schro

Is Dennis still a core player? His performance this postseason has also been uneven. Are we better off using the MLE on someone like Jevon Carter? His postseason was disappointing as well but he shoots much better from 3 and is a plus defender. Though he isn't the ball-handler that Dennis is he's a few years younger. Milwaukee has a lot of mouths to feed; I imagine he won't be a high priority.

It could be theorized that MaxC could replace TBjr…but not so to assume a figure that hasn’t even been identified, with no experience, could be a reasonable replacement for Schor. Sure it’s possible, but more of a gamble as opposed to a realistic attempt at winning…something other franchise may embrace but it should NOT be a strategy for our historic franchise.

Bring back Schro with the tpMLE, Reaves with the Arenas rule and Mo at a lower price. Use Bird rights for Dlo, make the qualifying (at least) offer for Rui and guarantee Vando so that the 8 are: AD/Mo/LBJ/Rui/Vando/Reaves/Schro/Dlo.

This season was the tale of two halves

The team after the trade deadline is not a plane team they had the best record in the league after the trade deadline

Now they just squashed the number two seed by 40 points. The biggest beat down in NBA history by a seventh seed.

Write those checks, Jeanie! This is without training camp. This is with DLO & LeBron missing a lot of those games post-ASB.

Yep do whatever it takes to keep LBJ, AD, DLO, Reaves, Vandy, Schroeder, and Rui in Laker unis next year. Particularly DLO, Reaves, Vanderbilt to compliment LBJ, AD.

1. LeBron
2. AD
3. Reaves
4. Hachimura
5. Vando
6. Schröder but likely getting paid elsewhere
7. Dlo because Lakers can’t just let him walk
8. Tristan since he’s cheap and did ok against Jokic

The rookies aren’t likely to replace Schroeder who started most of the season. TBjr wasn’t part of the discussion tho I’d like him back at vet min for roster continuity.

Mo didn’t get a chance to show us what he could do and I think his potential would be hard to replace with the assets we have. Sure, the Lakers got where they did without him but the goal is to get farther…to a championship win…had Minny and Memphis been full strength at C the Lakers likely would have needed Mo to beat them and perhaps would have beaten Denver.

Also, LWIV stepped up and won a playoff game for the Lakers this season as well as several regular season games. He also played in the last game while Vandi/Mo got DNP CD.

I like the assessment but think it needs to include Mo and LWIV to be complete. If we aren’t going to upgrade the team can we at least not downgrade it?
AD/Mo
Rui
LBJ/Vandi
AR/LWIV
Dlo/Schro

This team has a better reg season but loses 1st 2nd round assuming guys are healthy enough to even make it.

Add Schro too or it’s a downgraded roster. We would be missing defensive poa capabilities in the backcourt. Said it before…if we aren’t gonna upgrade can we at least not downgrade?

The only players the Lakers could realistically move on from without negatively impacting the team by replacing with vet mins are:
ShaqH/Beasley/MaxC/TBjr/Gabe/TT

If the Lakers lose anyone else and try to replace them with a vet min without additional changes then it would likely result in a downgrade. The plan should not be to replace any of the following with vet mins if we expect to maintain the same level of competitiveness. We’d have strike good unexpectedly to win at the same rate if we lose any of: Dlo/Schro/AR/LWIV/Vandi/Rui/LBJ/Mo/AD

I just want to keep the big 4:
LBJ Davis Rui AR

and the young guns:
JHS, Max, Maxwell

While I want to keep: DLO, Vando, and DS; I realize there is a hard cap, just don't lose Rui and Reaves

It's doubtful we could keep Schröder anyway. He's getting way more than a vet min from some team out there, and we don't have Bird Rights.

We really can't afford to lose Russell and Vando's contract is cheap. There's plenty there to keep LeBron, AD, Reaves, Rui, Russell, and Vanderbilt if we don't exercise Beasley's option. Russell isn't likely getting more than $20 million from anyone, so that's another $11 million saved.

Kept 6 and upgraded the 7th, without Jeanie having to write that high of a check.

Just need another big.

Noooice.

This is the roster construction that would provide for the best production offensively and defensively plus insurance for AD and LBJ with optimum rotation coverage for all positions. If not Mo then find a back up center that can fill that role of being a part of the top 8 playoff rotation.

Plenty of people recognized Shro should have been part of the core 8 to return.

We’re not gonna have cap space to sign next summer, agree with keeping that core 7, so we need to parlay Max (maybe keep him too actually, for Reaves insurance), so Prince-Gabe-Wood-JHS-‘29FRP-SRPs/Pick swaps (might need Rui salary, ugh) for long termed contract big, this season before that whole apron thing kick in next season (Vas?)

The acquisition would have to be better than Wood/Rui if both dealt. It may be better off keeping the depth of those two as injury insurance for AD/LBJ. As time continues LBJ will likely be more and more a PF which makes AD the C. The big would then be a backup. Developing Wood/Rui for that is a plan I can stick with for now. A back up C that can play major minutes next to AD is a must tho.

Cam is likely gone like Monk/Shro/LW4 or else Wood. Don’t think the Lakers will be able to keep both. Hate to think about that now, wanna just enjoy the production and savor the here and now. Things could change, it’s still early so just speculation, not a definitive statement/conclusion.
