Hayes is basically that for us this year.

Have you seen Lively? He is a good basketball player and playable in regular situations. Hayes sucks. Has no awareness.

Hating on a ‘prove it’ min contract player when your username is CamReddish is ironic

Cam can play. Hayes got 1 rebound last night on his put back free throw dunk in 20 minutes. He is 7 feet tall

There is no other choice especially because Wood signing has been looking really bad

Yah, he went total Lebron there for a second.

Jax has a 71% career FT average but is only shooting 55% so far for the Lakers. But, at least, he put forth a great effort when he was on the court.

Some switching and doubling that put Hayes on Luka early in the fourth defensively. That kept him in the game over Rui as we were more active defensively.
(Luka got a bogus foul against him when Hayes went vertical and Luka bounced off him.)
He had a big offensive board down three with 4:37 left for FTs, he’d miss both, however. Cut have cut it to 1. We needed those.
He and Bron left 4 points at the line in crunch time.

The Stats: He scored 2 points on 1-1 shooting (0-2 from the line) to go with 4 boards and 1 foul in 11 minutes. He was a +7.

No, he played great. His perimeter defense for a big was off the charts

Decent game against the Cavs, it’s good to see the lob threat materialized.

I hope the extra energy wasn’t because he went back to a place he’s familiar with, he probably payed friends to see him play, there is no reason why he can’t duplicate some of the McGee role on this team

Um, no, Lively is a much better rebounder and can actually put the ball on the floor a little. Hayes can only finish lobs and putbacks.

He fit good next to Davis in those brief periods, essentially playing the McGee role.

seemed more like a function of the way the Cavs were playing AD
which is actually pretty valuable, bc if Vando were in that position he wouldn't have been as successful at finishing hte play

Why was McGee a lot more involved in 2020? Better rebounder/defender? Rondo? more PG Bron?

Jaxon Hayes has played about as well as expected. He's a team-player who provides energy, hustle and athleticism.
Hayes needs to play with more discipline and control to cut down his fouls.
He has shot-blocking and lob abilities, he needs to be more aggressive on the defensive glass and REBOUND.
If he hones those skills he can become a solid back-up center.

FYI: Over the last three games Jax has made 10 shots in a row!

STATS:

PPG - 3.3, RPG - 1.7, BPG - 0.5, TS% - 72.5

Hayes has made 14 shots in a row from the field without a miss in the last 7 games lol!

The two bagel games with the other FT only 3pt game, Hayes didn’t shoot from the field hence didn’t miss! Misleading I know.
Still, Hayes has made all of his last 14 field goals!

He doesn’t take a lot of shots, but of the shots taken, he has only missed shots is two of the 15 games he’s played in this season

Hayes is worthless. He has to be the worst rebounder I've seen in my life. Players shoot over and around him with ease. He's athletic as hell and can dunk, but that's it. If Hayes gets both hands on a rebound, there's only a 10 percent chance he ends up with the ball and a 90 percent chance a guard takes it away from him with ease.

He seems to be rebounding well below his career average this season.
Rebounds per 36 minutes:
Hayes this season: 5.1
Hayes career: 8.4
AD this season: 12.8
AD career 10.9
Wood this season: 10.4
Wood career: 10.9

So Hayes' weaknesses in rebounding have been evident in his career, but are much more pronounced this season.

Is it just noise or do you think something is going on? Could part of it be that he shares minutes with guys that are better than him at rebounding?

He just isn’t that good. All of our signings are flawed that’s why retaining AR was crucial. Even wood who has been ok for us, can be seen frequently being lazy and not engaged. Hayes is a warm body.

Hayes is getting spot minutes and role minutes.

When the Lakers are able to get on fast breaks and attack the pick and roll for lobs, Hayes is invaluable.

When he's expected to defend without fouling that is the issue. He's also the only center on the team that another team does not have to worry about a jump shot from.

He can have great spot and momentum moments and high energy and hustle moments. But pulling him when things are stagnant offensively is a good idea because he's not the guy to get us out of it.
