Would league pass + a VPN allow me to watch Lakers games (since I'm in the local market)?
Yes, it works for me. Also watched Clippers game today with LP and VPN.
Thank you! Is there a free online college course you can recommend? I did a quick google search and don't know where to begin. Tia! _________________ KOBE

My friend gave me the internet league pass for free this season. It was so good (AirPlay from iPad to TV, seemingly no noticeable delay compared to television) that I thought about just cord cutting when I move to my next place.
But I’m back in Southern California for Thanksgiving and tried using it yesterday, and it didn’t let me because it was being broadcast locally. It still didn’t even work with VPN. So if someone is a cord cutter and lives in the same area as the team they are a fan of, what is the point of league pass? And what’s the point of this blackout? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

The whole point of cable TV companies making deals with the league and with individual teams is to get people to buy cable TV packages. So Spectrum's thinking when they made that $1B deal with the Lakers 10 years ago was "if you live in LA and want to watch Lakers games, you better buy Spectrum TV". With this new streaming service, they're just allowing people in LA to pay them $20/month just to watch the Lakers, rather than making them buy the whole TV package. But either way, you're still putting money in Spectrum's pocket.
The point of NBA league pass is to watch out of market games that aren't broadcasted in your local market. Because the NBA's thinking is, if the game is being broadcast in your local market, you should have the cable TV package to be able to watch it because these cable companies has paid the league and the teams billions of dollars.
It has nothing to do with fan experience and everything to do with broadcast rights.

lol, I didn’t realize that they weren’t giving an alternative to people who might just not want cable. Too generous of an interpretation from me.
I really only want cable news and sports from television. Everything else I can get through Netflix or YouTube. So why do I have to deal with paying for cable? It’s ridiculous. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
