the controversy was why they didn't call the foul on Booker and the foul on KD (lebron layup) |

In some of the soccer cups, the champion from the previous year gets an automatic bid to the knock out round. They could try something like that in the future so Denver and Miami would’ve been automatic this year. That helps ensure a certain talent level is in the knock out round. |

Soccer leagues also demote and elevate. Should the NBA give an automatic bid to the NCAA or WNBA champs? The morbid curiosity would likely bring in ratings too. But is that really what we want?
Sorry. I am the wrong demographic and generation. What interests me is the competition. I prefer the ebbs and flows of a long season. The clarity of the importance of each game over a long 82 game season. The accomplishment of making that defined 1-8 seed and let the best team win.
The hype and marketing being forced upon to glorify the IST annoy me. Just as the play-in tournament did a couple years ago.
I’m an old grump and these forced new formats to bring in the casual fan and increase ratings detracts from the NBA product for me. I do acknowledge that for many casual and hardcore fans it is entertaining though. Enjoy as you will. |

I like the tournament... wouldn't mind seeing even one more added in the middle of the season.
Breaks up the long season and keeps the intensity up all the way.
Whenever they start a new award nobody cares about it.
Think of the World Baseball Classic.
After the Trout/Ohtani showdown, there will be a lot more interest by the next one.
If the finals are epic, it will build up momentum for next season.
In European soccer, the big teams all list their various accomplishments... Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, etc.
I'm sure that's the model the NBA is following.
Right now I just want the Lakers to win. If they don't, no big deal, but I think over time it will become something bigger if they market it properly. |

Can I relegate the Clippers in your scenario? |

Funny. When Booker got his 5th, I told my son there was no possible way they would call a sixth foul on him. I was right. So much right that they made up a time out call to make it so they didn't have to call the 6th. |

In that case it was smart of LeBron to call the timeout as soon as he saw the ref STANDING RIGHT THERE wasn't going to call anything. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

its over -- the narrative is set for that game that the Lakers got a favorable call and thats why they won.
no one cares it not a favorable call and the ref missed an obvious foul on booker.
Reggie Miller certainly did his part stating over and over again on a national broadcast that a TO should not have been given. God forbid he mentions booker got away with an obvious bump.
oh well. lets win this thing! |

Is the court in Vegas going to be black? I can’t find a photo of it. |

Does that mean we play more 3 more games than the rest of the teams?
And how does that count in the standings for the win- loss columns? |

We only got an 80 game schedule to start the year. The Phoenix game on Tuesday was game 81, tomorrow is game 82, and if we win, we play an 83rd game that doesn’t count towards win loss record nor do individual player stats count towards season totals/averages. |

The only thing with that is how would it be fair for the teams that didnt play in the tournament? they played less games in the standings while the teams in the tournament got 2 extra games to get ahead of them in the standings |

The NBA games tonight and Friday night are all games that were added in the last few weeks for teams who didn’t make it. All games are within conference except for one each night due to the odd numbers of teams in each conference. But the NBA chose teams at the bottom of the standings to play the cross-conference games, so for everybody who will be in the playoff hunt, they all have the same amount of conference/non-conference games. |

The teams not in the tournament play two extra unscheduled games determined after they miss the knock out round. Only 80 games are scheduled ahead of time but all teams will still play 82 regular season games. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. All these games for non tournament teams that were previously unscheduled are being played in the next week?
Also, kind of stupid how the final game doesn’t count towards the record / stats….theres gotta be a way for maybe the semis to not count mathematically and have the later rounds count. That means more teams playing “ghost” games but for a “meaningful” final not to count toward stats is weird
I’m not a math major, but there’s gotta be a Better way to have done this so all games count _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

And how about flagrant foul points and technical fouls for the 83rd game? Will those not count towards season totals as far as suspension thresholds? They shouldn’t. |

Interesting question. If we had MWP and he knocked out someone in the tourney finals, will he still face suspension? I assume so since Rick fox got into the tunnel fight in the preseason and still got suspended _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

Seems so obvious that the winner of the ISP should get any record tie breaker (e.g. for seeding) |

They used the play in concept where the stats don’t count but game matter. |

Well for a fight I think they would be suspended, but each year you only get 16 technicals and 3 or 4 flagrant foul points. Once you go over it’s a suspension for each additional offense. Those are the ones that I wouldn’t accumulate. |
