Pels probably will take the 2025 pick with how weak of a draft this year will be.

Also they can see how this team unfolds in the offseason. Chances that Lebron can just optout and leave.

He’s guaranteed to opt out especially with his love for NY, another thing is that if he opts out the Lakers need to find a way to get something back don’t make the same mistake they did with Randle when he signed with New Orleans and we didn’t even get a asset out of it

Don't they have to decide before the draft? if they waited for next year then lakers could dramatically get better in free agency and the pick could be worthless for pelicans. It's a gamble.

Yea I dont think it works that way once he opts out. Knowing Lebron once he opts out and decides to leave. Most likely there’s already some issues between him and the FO… Heat and Cavs didn’t get anything back once he left.

Or the Lakers can get worst with the possibility of both Lebron and DLO opting out and leaving. Yes it’s a gamble but next years draft I think might be also better than this year.

Not that it has anything to do with the article but Lebron will likely opt out and re-sign for for a couple of more years. As for the article it’s the supply and demand. If you are a seller you have the right to ask for what you want. If other teams don’t want to meet the asking price then no deal is made. The article is kind of lazy, the Lakers weren’t asked for more then the other team settled for less. Atlanta seemed to have a price for Murray and no one paid it.

Thats why I dont buy the “You can’t buy a house that is not for sale” excuse.

Because there are always houses for sale. It’s either, it’s not worth the asking price or it’s out of your price range.

Agreed. Pelicans wouldn't pay either because they wanted picks plus Herb Jones.

It'll be hilarious if Atlanta crash and burn for the rest of the year, and the start of the next, and they have to burn it all down with Trae walking

This is probably why there was a little bit of talk of possibly trading LeBron, I think there was some thought a couple of weeks ago but the Lakers and the Organization decided against it, now if he opts out and leaves on his own that will make it worse

Lakers would never trade LeBron unless he asked for it.

If you price a house so high you know it won't sell, then it's really not for sale.

Pelinka simply needs to step up his game, Leon Rose level

Pelinka needs to personally go and pay some of these other GMs a visit and hold them at gunpoint, dude CLEARLY doesn’t want it bad enough.

It’s the Lakers tax. It’s also probably why we have hit home runs in the buyout market.

The Lakers got all kinds of players for free last year. I don’t believe in a lakers tax. The hawks didn’t give Murray to the Lakers for cheap but they didn’t give him to anyone else either.

That's the whole Laker Tax content. No examples. No names. No consequences.

Pretty weak.

Well it is Buha. Gotta write something to get clicks.

Spoken as truthfully as I’ve heard!!! I don’t give Pelinka a pass because “it was too hard”. Do your job Rob, step up your game, just like the players we expect the GM to overcome challenges and perform at a championship level.

Atlanta said what they wanted, Kuminga or Reaves. GSW & Lakers didn’t include that so the Hawks went on their way. We don’t know what else it would have taken if the deal included the player they wanted. Perhaps Reaves/Prince/1stSwap/2ndRp? Maybe, maybe not but the house was for sale, Rob is deceptive about it not, he just didn’t want to pay because he is comfortable with the neighborhood he’s in, which in a play-in position with potential long shot odds at a title instead of upgrading to a better location.

Memphis, Sacremento, Utah, Atlanta, Phoenix, have all been among the top seeds in the not too distant past as well as cannon fodder botten dwellers. It’s common routine in the NBA and several teams switch between those positions over the years and the Lakers would be likely do the common thing if future assets were used. The not so common routine is to win a ship so if that rare opportunity is possible then you go for it using future prospects. I can’t understand why Jeanie/Rob aren’t doing it. Seems like they are half-a$$ing the attempt, (dollar sign pun intended). The effort has been Unsuitable for a historic flagship franchise in position to challenge for a tie-breaker for most championships in history.

I’m frustrated as a fan and certainly understand how LBJ could be too. Kobe (RIP Mamba, you’re #1 to me), requested a trade when he found out the org wasn’t pursuing a title. Durant, Kyrie, Harden, Kawhi, and others showed us how a star behaving badly looks when the FO is full of shi$ and LBJ hasn’t shown any of that. If he opts out and leaves, because the FO isn’t actively gunning for a ship then wins with another team, (or let’s the Leprechauns get it before us), then more shamely ineptitude on the Lakers FO.

Yep, but confirming people’s biases gets clicks so they keep doing it.
