RIP. Should have been a Laker in 1985-86.

I saw Bill at many Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia and now Dead and Company shows over the years.

Always had a big smile on his face and extremely down to earth and approachable.

Just a cool guy with a good heart, not to mention one of the greatest college basketball players of all time and a two-time NBA Champion.

Man, terrible news. I loved Bill Walton. Loved the way he projected happiness at all times.

Western civilization lost a good person. RIP.

I used to watch the Clippers broadcasts because of his commentary, even though I never liked the Clippers. RIP

Big bummer.

Even my wife was really bummed out by the news. We used to crack up when he would wind up Steve "Snapper" Jones by simply being happy and talkative.

I think I'll post this comment over here rather than on the Lounge side. Here we have two dead-heads, one a great US Senator who got "Franken'ed" out (while the scumbag on the other side who is an adjudicated rapist...and not only NOTHING, but stands a real chance of being reelected), and the other, Mr. Walton just being Bill.

The gentle giant is celebrated here (starting around 5:18), in The Sphere, by the group (sort of) he so celebrated. Though the hole can't ever be filled by Jerry's passing, this version of Fire on the Mountain, is pretty darn fine. (I'm glad I never sat behind him.)
