Lost again in the championship game. Iowa is like the female CBB version of the Butler Bulldogs from a couple years back.

Woot Coach Staley!

But I see Caitlin still had herself a very serious game she is going to be a legit star in the WNBA to say the least.

IMO the remark was taken out of context. I understand the reasoning but I think that's being to sensitive.

Reporter Suspended After Uncomfortable Exchange with Caitlin Clark and Will Not Attend Fever Games

LINK

Quote:
The ordeal began when Doyel used his time during Clark's introductory presser to hold up his hands to form a heart towards the basketball star, a gesture Clark became known for doing with her family after every Iowa Hawkeyes game.

In a confused response to Doyel's hand gesture, Clark said, "You like that?", to which he replied: "I like that you're here."

Clark added, "Yeah, I do that at my family after every game." Doyel responded, "Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine."

Caitlin Clark has WNBA basketball on major stations. The Indiana Fever are playing the New York Liberty on ABC7 in Los Angeles. The Fever are getting spanked, AGAIN! Caitlin needs a lot of help.

Yeah, I noticed that when I turned on the TV this morning. The team stunk last season so thats why they had the number 1 pick. Its gonna take them a while to turn that team around.

Instagram fandom is the biggest threat to the league at the moment. The bump yesterday is the perfect example, anyone watching the game would have seen them both going at it across multiple plays. Carrer got carried away, and it should have been more than just a foul, but its fun to watch them go at it without the need to try and drag one of them over the coals. All the AI accounts picking it up and driving the ridiculous narrative that Clark was assaulted. Just get on with it.

Her, Brink, Jackson, Reese and Cardoso will all continue to get better, but they are already giving people an interest in the league. I'm enjoying it so far to be honest, it's not even been available before this season over here (UK). Clark's game intelligence and playmaking is already fun to watch, even if the finishing isn't consistent off of it. I'm sure her average PPG will rise over the season, wouldn't be surprised if she's just tired as there was next to no break for them out of the college finals.

Refs do need to step on some of the fouling though, she's going to end up injured if they let some of them go. The ones where people run across her trailing legs are the worrying ones. Just snide fouls that could take her out of games.

Didn't Carter get kicked off of other teams for roughing up her teammates? Seems dumb as a rock.

The jealousy for this player is insane. You can sense it from your TV screens. Angel Reese (if that's her name). LMAO. You are not the reason.

People like Clark, want to follow her. Instead the WNBA has all become one little petty jealous girls circle trying to show up, rough up Clark.

I actually didn't care either way about Clark. Now I'm rooting hard for her success. Go CC. Make those jealous (bleep) salty.

I agree with those who are wondering where are Clark's teammates when the physical play on Clark happens. When Carter did this, Boston who is right there inbounding the ball does nothing just keeps standing. Just run up and defend Clark by standing there to show disapproval, and help Clark get up. Other plays, which I admit I just have seen on highlights not in gameflow, same thing.

But I understand some of her teammates are getting ripped on social media in aggressive or racist ways. If true, Clark should say something in support of them to tone down her "fans" briefly at least (assuming she has not yet) if she wants to lead them or just be a good teammate. But the bigger failing is her teammates not protecting a rookie.

I am a fan of hers but Clark fans can't expect people whose money she wants to take to roll over for her just because she's bringing money and attention to the league. These are pros for limited spots for relatively low pay. Plus, just the spirit of competition. I wouldn't want that for Wemby either, nor did he get it. Clark herself doesn't seem to look for easy treatment at all, sees it as a way to get better, as it is. Gotta learn and fight for it. WNBA players are coming for her, get used to it. It's all good.

I think some of the rough play and lack of calls is part of a different problem, the overall bad reffing, which is part of a overall mixed quality product. Women are not finishing under the basket. e.g., the play looks awful at times, definitely the refs are relatively weak. This might all be just growing pains of a lower pay league though. I do not know since I just started watching WNBA. The league needs a significant step up in quality and these rooks Reese, Brink, Clark, Rickea Jackson, others, Paige Bueckers when she comes in will maybe produce a better polished product than what I have seen. And the league's refs just gotta step up, I thought NBA refs were lacking bigtime.

I think a good portion of this is growing pains in the evolution of a successful league, and probably the NBA looked pretty lame in the early days (or the ABA) from a consumer standpoint. Watching these players I mentioned for the first time in the NCAAW tourney and Paige Bueckers and Juju and others, there was some really good stuff for my new interest. Then I watched some highlights of the WNBA MVP last year and others, and it's a promising product I think maybe five years from now.

Reese is good and has a big fanbase herself. She is part of the growing interest. She's a college champ. You think jealousy doesn't exist in the NBA for rooks bringing in a lot of attention? Gotta test the rook and try to take them down a peg, right of passage. Blame the refs, blame the league, and especially blame her teammates for not being anywhere in the vicinity when she does get roughed up.

By the way, look at this for Angel Reese a couple weeks ago. Watch the whole under three minute video because it's multiple plays back and forth between her and Alyssa Thomas, but especially look at this at 1:40 slowmo replay and the live speed version of it before.
Angel Reese Alyssa Thomas rough plays

This is way harder treatment than I have seen given to Clark at any point. I think this play is absolutely terrible and should have suspended Thomas for weeks. These announcers during the replay seem like idiots too acting like it's routine ("she's going to be fine. she's tough." moron this is unacceptable) Maybe the WNBA is actually relatively rougher than the NBA allows these days.
But the point is Reese faced this and few casuals like myself know about this sequence but know the Clark highlights and are outraged or think Reese is evil. She's a kid learning her way too, like Clark. And this is her reaction (which is a little too generous in my view, but her view is clear)
Angel Reese reaction to Alyssa Thomas play

I am rooting for Clark too but would be a disservice to her game growth to treat her with kid gloves. And competitors would never do that.

This is the best thing that could happen for the league as well as Clark.

At least the Thomas one was actually dealt with though, the Carter one wasn't by the refs during the game. Anyway, as I say, they were both at it. Clark was baiting and Carter was Dillon Brooks dumb in response. Still should have been a flagrant 1 on the floor though.

Some of these rookies are going to get injured and it risks pouring water on the interest in the league imo. They need to get he refs on point and the rest will level off. Sure rookies always get harsh treatment, but it's not usually this noticeable because of the profile of those rookies and, usually you'd only have 1/2 capable of making an impact, but a lot of these kids are already better than the role players they're facing.

Reminds me of Tiger Woods turning Pro. All those other golfers and haters shut the F up real quick when the $ came pouring in and put bread in everyone's pockets.

Yeah, WNBA just got charter flights for the first time. Anyone think this happens for a sport that no one watches? These morons should be grateful for the new eyeballs.
