My son (12 years old ) has a fencing tournament in Columbus Ohio next month. There will be a 3-day break between his age groups. We probably going to rent a car and travel to nearby town during those 3 days. Our choices are down to Cincinnati and Cleveland , both are about 2 hours of driving. Which city will you pick for a 2 day getaway trip? Any other suggestions within 2 hour driving from Columbus are also welcomed.

One of my favorite little trips around Columbus is to hop on the eastbound I-70. After a couple of miles, maybe 6 or 7, you'll see a sign that says "70 east". Keep going, it's a pleasant little drive. When you see the Arby's, keep going. There are dozens of them on this route and not much else. When you start to smell a reek like stolen nike slides with old pit bull feces and menthol butts stuck to their treads, ignore it and keep driving, that's just Cleveland wafting in from 100 miles to the north. After a few hours you'll hit the 76, then the 78, and you'll end up in New York City, congrats, for you are no longer in Ohio, and if you are smart, you didn't stop in Pennsylvania. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

oh trust me, if not for kid's tournament, vacationing in Ohio would never crossed our mind in a million years. but since we have to be there and with only 3 days of free time to work with, we're trying to make the most of this trip.
Born in Cleveland, lived there 15 years. Went to College just north of Cincinnati.
If your dates are July 24 or after, stay in CBus and go to the State Fair.
Otherwise, Cincy's probably the best spot. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

What's growing up there like, Cleveland?
Desperation, with a dollop of burning river. _________________ Hoy por ellos, mañana por nosotros

Yeah, I was a kid when the Cuyahoga River caught fire.
Growing up in Cleveland in the 70s was fun, but like many Midwestern cities, there's an ingrained inferiority complex with respect to sports, culture and quality of life compared to the "big cities."
In 1920, Cleveland was the 5th largest city in America, booming due to oil, steel and manufacturing.
In 2020, Cleveland was 53rd! If you count the metro area (suburbs, etc), it's 33rd - not even half the size of Riverside's metro area!.
People grow up in Cleveland and if they can - they leave. It's like the folks who stayed are second rate. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

There is this cool Airbnb someone built inside a cave in Rockbridge OH, 1 hour outside of Columbus:

Miami traffic can turn a simple drive into an epic saga, but with inDrive, you’re the director of your own blockbuster. Forget the boring predictability of other apps; this one gives you star power by letting you negotiate your fare. It’s like an episode of Shark Tank, except you’re not pitching a product—you’re just trying to get to South Beach without mortgaging your vacation. Drivers play along, countering with their offers, making every trip a mini adventure😊 Landing at Miami International Airport can feel like diving into a sea of stressed travelers, but inDrive cuts through the chaos like a speedboat. The app is faster than your Wi-Fi connection and light enough to fit alongside all your photos of empanadas and sunsets. With driver ratings, you can pick someone who’s more James Bond than Mr. Bean behind the wheel. It’s an experience that’s equal parts fun and functional, like Miami itself. Ready to see how a little haggling can take the sting out of commuting? Try it and feel the difference https://indrive.com/en-us/miami You’ve got nothing to lose except overpriced rides.
